Controlled Hypothyroidism not a problem

Good Morning Friends,

I haven't been on here in a while. We are in the middle of our waiting period to try IVF again (attempt #3). We recently met with our doctor and had a discusssion about Hypothyroidism. She told us that as long as I am taking my Synthroid and my blood tests come back controlled, then there is no evidence to prove that infertility is linked to Hypothyroidism. She said I would have to be having problems related to my thyroid gland, and that I'm not. It's under control. We didn't know that, as I have read many posts on here about the connection between Infertility and Hypothyroidism.

We are in Canada and she also told me that she sits on a Reproductive Technology Board with some U.S doctors, and that things are different in the U.S.

This was good news to us, but also doesn't explain why our IVF cycles are not working. At least I know that my Hypothyroidism isn't causing any further problems. I just thought I'd share this with you. I have read all the online links (that I could fine) about this issue and have also got my gp doing some research. At this point this is what we know.

Anyway, the good news is that our doctor said she can try some different options with IVF - different meds to increase the time period of follicle development, and also they want to try Blastocysts rather than 3 day transfers. I know this is more risky to lose embryos, but at this point it's our next step.

Thanks for listening to me. I'd be happy to hear from any of you. Smiles to you all.
