Question

Have any of you ever done the IVF antagonist protocol. My RE has this as my game plan. I had the typical Lupron last time and only produced 9 eggs...they say the antagonist helps produce more eggs? We want some to freeze so I am trying to find out more about this.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Erin

I did the antagonist protocol on my 3rd and 4th IVF cycles and got pregnant both times! I actually hyperstimmed on the Lupron protocol for cycle #1 (lots of eggs but poor quality).

Our diagnosis was male-factor infertility, but it took 3 tries to get my side of the equation worked out as well. Additionally, my RE prescribed Metformin for me in cycles 3 and 4 (it's typically used with PCOS patients). He explained that the Met + antagonist protocol produced higher-quality eggs. I really didn't care *what* I had to take--both DH and I went through a lot to get pregnant, and it was completely worth it!

Best wishes to you!

IVF #4:
IVF/ICSI/TESE
8/5 -- anatomy scan; HB 149; weight 7 oz. We have a healthy tot! And no, we didn't peek at the gender--it's a surprise!
10/7 -- passed glucose screening! / HB 150 / measuring 1 week ahead / now taking daily iron supp.
11/17 -- HB 150s / measuring right on schedule / baby is vertex!

I just finished doing the antagonist protocol (I was on Gonal F at increasing dosages 150-450 throughout stimming. My E2 level only got up to 1300ish. They retrieved 23 eggs, 17 were mature, 12 fertilized, we transferred 2 and froze 3.

My first cycle I was on a Lupron flare protocol, my E2 went through the roof (4800 at retrieval) they retrieved 9 eggs, 8 fertilized, we transferred 2 blasts, froze 2 and I had an ectopic.

Hope this info is helpful. If you need any more info please feel free to PM me.

Thanks

We too are going through IVF due to male factor and I did get pregnant with my last cycle, but I had a bloos clot that was catastrophic! My RE seems to think that my reserve is low average and with this new protocol she can get more eggies to hopefully be mature and fertilize!

Thank you both for your thoughts!

Best Wishes,

Erin
