I recently completed my first IVF cycle. Everything seemed like it was going well: 12 eggs retrieved, 9 fertilized with ICSI, 2 transferred on day 5 and 6 frozen on day 6. However, this ended in a chemical pregnancy.
I've lurked on this board for the last three weeks, looking for inspiration as I went through the process (love hearing the success stories!)...but not posting. Now I just want to know--after you've suffered a loss, what do you do to prepare yourself emotionally to try again? We will probably not attempt a FET for a couple months, but that is fine with me. I am too scared of going through the same thing again. I want my head to be in the right place when we give it another go...what did you do to prepare after a first failed IVF attempt? Any advice appreciated.

Thank you. I think I'll post in the FET board...I hadn't looked there but after I read your reply I checked it out...it looks like there are a lot of women who have gone through the same thing and had successful frozen cycles.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Going On 2nd det...soon
We too just had a chemical-pregnancy after a 5db det on October 17th. We are waiting for my period to cease, then we will both have bt to see what is going on with me and why I didn't accept the det. Doc will then medicate me, thus giving us an 80%-75% implantation on the next try. I also post on/at: home pregnancy test after ivf possibly correct? - Fertility - MedHelp We need all the support, prayers, and answers we can get. Overall, this has been very stressful and we both know that we should be hopeful, positive, and happy. We both pray for everyone to acheive their miracles, Amen. Thanks for all of you being there for us. We felt so alone, scared, and helpless. ![]() Last edited by ttcangel : 11-02-2008 at 08:31 PM. |
