Hello.
I am brand new to this site after suffering a recent loss at 11w 5d on 05/21/09. It was my first pregnancy after trying for only a few short months. There was no medical reason for the loss but the m/c was incomplete and I had to have a D&C.
The loss was/is heartbreaking. The baby was planned for over 2 years, but we only tried to conceive after our wedding early this year.
Following the loss my support has been soo wonderful. I feel beyond lucky to have married such an amazing man and have such supportive friends and family, as many people knew of our little one on the way.
My question is, both my husband and I are ready to exersice the idea of trying again soon. My question is from everyone's experience, how soon is it "ok" physically to try again.
The reason for my confusion is that my husband and I have asked 4 doctors and got different responses (3 while at the hospital and my family doctor at my check up last week)
Two of the 4 doctors told me I can try again right away, that we are at no more risk conceiving right away then waiting a cycle or two. One of them said 3 months and the other said one full cycle.
My problem is that we feel three months to be "too long" for lack of a better way to say it. And the one cycle answer is fine with us, but in the same breath the fact we were told twice "right away" has the thoughts in our minds why wait if we dont have to? I am wondering is that safe? Or do I risk another m/c? Also has anyone conceived that early and what was the result of that pregnancy?
Any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated.

i'm sorry about ur loss. i have the same quesiton in my mind also. i googled around and people said you can try right away when ur bleeding stop. i know 3 cycles is way to long.but it better to wait than sorry.

my dr. recom me to wait 1 cycle, and i'm planning to do that, cuz it better for my body to have time recover, plus good for my next baby. i want to have a better place to my next baby , what if my body not heal completely...i don't want to have another MC

Sorry to hear of your loss as well. As it stands we are waiting the one cycle. I agree with the fact it seems to be at least a bit more comfort to wait to be sure you are fine. Its been a month tomorrow since our loss and no period yet but I know it can sometimes take awhile.
I feel like I would try again right now if I was sure it was safe. Which is why I ask if anyone has tried before a cycle, what was the result.
Both myself and my husband feel ready to TTC. I know it may sound crazy as it hasnt been long at all since we lost our little one.. but these things happen and its very common from what we have been told and what I have read so we have not been detoured from the baby track just yet.
Thank you for your response. Its comforting to know I am not alone in feeling like the 3 cycle wait is "too long".

sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. I had to wait two cycles. The reason explained to me was if your HCG is still above 5 (which mine was FOREVER) the pregnancy might not take as when HCG falls from pregnancy one the body might dispell pregnancy #2. I was still 27 HCG in April on my first "period" after the mc. By May 1st, we did IUI #2 and so far so good.

I would wait one, but make sure your levels are good.

First off I'm so sorry for your loss, it is nothing a person should ever have to go through.

After our first m/c we waited a full cycle per our dr.s instructions. It seems the only real reason they want you to wait is so that they can determine a correct gestational age which is hard to do if you haven't had a period between the two pregnanices. My 2nd pregnancy was a chemical one and I was worried that it was because we didn't wait long enough. However, we still tried a cycle later and are now 20 weeks pregnanct with triplets.

Goodluck to you and from all the research I did it seems 1 cycle is the norm.

Well thank you very much for weighing in ladies! It makes me feel better to have some insight on whats felt to be "right" which in all honesty is hard to tell with all the internet and doctor opinions!
On a happy note I got AF today so other then feeling awful we are soooo exicted that everything is going back on track! So we will wait for this cycle to complete and then we will start to try again! We will take it day by day and just hope for the very best for our next pregnancy!! I am very nervous but also excited. I am just praying for a healthy pregnancy!!

Hello I am new to this whole thing and I am sorry for everyones loss.I myself just lost my baby last week I was 18 weeks and found out I have an incompetent cervix I am still traumatized by the whole thing and dont know if I will ever get over it.My husband and I have been together for over 8 years and never used protection and I dont get my period so we decided to see a fertility specialist last Aug.I never thought I would get pregnant and when I did we were so happy.I feel so guilty b/c its only been a week since we lost our son but all I can think about is getting pregnant I am going to make an appt with my fertilty Dr in Aug to discuss our options and to see when we can try again.My OB Dr had said if I get pregnant again they would do a cerclage.My biggest fear is getting pregnant with multiples b/c of the fertility drugs and if my cervix couldnt hold 1 baby I am scared it wont hold 2 or more even with a cerclage.Has anyone else had this experience and is it wrong of me to want to get pregnant again so soon? I know nothing will ever replace my son and he will be our little angel forever.

I just recently suffered a loss too..6/16 my doctor told me that love making could resume when ever I felt comfortable..and we did this morning. I never even asked the likely hood of conceiving..as I saw an ER doc. So I have the same questions. Good luck honey!

I am sorry for all your losses as well! I had a d&c 3 1/2 weeks ago. My doctor said to wait until I have 2 periods, but I just feel like I don't want to wait. I have read many stories and talked to people who have gotten pregnant right away and have healthy babies. So I am not actively trying right now, but I am also not preventing it. So I guess I will just leave it up to it happens when it happens.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know how you feel in that I've had 3 m/c's in the the last 12 months! In March 2009 I had a d&e then I had 1 period. I had bloodwork to make sure my hcg was zero (which it was) & then in May I found out I was pregnant (natural cycle). My dh & I were not even really trying so it was a complete surprise. Unfortunately I also m/c again so that was hard. I do think waiting at least 2 cycles is good. My RE even told me 2-3 cycles was good.

I waited only 12 days after d and c b4 I tried agin. I had my d and c on the 29th jun n got script for clomid on 8th july. My dr had no prob wit me nt waitn a mth since my body naturaly heal VERY quik. Hence the face I only bled 2 n half days after d and c.
