Can't get pregnant after loss

I am 28, my husband 31. We got pregnant on our first try in August of last year. We misscarried at 9 weeks- we saw the heartbeat. My ob said she was unaware of the cause of the misscarriage. Since then we have been trying with no luck. August-Oct we used clomid with 2 natural cycles and one with IUI. ALL NO LUCK. It has been over a year and I have been to an infertility clinic. They say I may have endo but can't be sure unless they do a lapo. My insurance doesnt cover this and it is very expensive so instead of spending the money on the lapo we are thinking of IVF. The clinic said I would be a great canidate. I dont think I have endo because I have no symptoms but who knows. Also my husbands sperm is PERFECT! Has anyone ever heard of getting pregnant the first time then nothing?? Also do you think IVF is a good option? Thanks so much

I got pregnant naturally after 9 months of trying. I miscarried at 7 weeks after seeing the heartbeat. We tried for over a year after the m/c with no success. My RE suggested a lap for suspected endo. I too had no symptoms other than infertility. He did find a tender spot on my uterus which led him to suspect endo. He removed endo from my ovary, uterus and bladder. Our plan was to move on to medicated IUI but didn't have to. I got pregnant naturally a month after the lap. It's too bad the lap isn't covered by your insurance. I don't know how good chances are with IVF if you actually have endo. I think my endo was interfering with implantation. What does your RE think?

Kteach, I am very sorry for your loss. I don't have any experience with your situation, but I wanted to ask you if you have contacted your insurance company and maybe tried to appeal their decision not to cover your lap? I have had a lap as well as 3 other surgeries to treat uterine fibroids and this was not looked at as something that was related to infertility so it was paid just as any other surgery would be covered.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

I agree with peabody... call your insurance to see if the surgery can be covered. my OB simply asked me if I had cramps during my period... I said of course, and he said, well, then, we will report that this is necessary surgery for you (he did find a mild case... and I had regular periods, light cramps...)... and my insurance covered it. I would call your insurance company and ask how much they allow the dr to charge for it, too. Sometimes they have a limit to how much the dr. can charge and it may be less than you think.

My OB is an endo specialist and he feels that endo can cause implantation issues.... I would get another opinion before jumping into IVF... that is a big investment too.

Sorry for your loss.... this sucks no matter how you look at it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! Unfortunatley my insurance is horrible and will not cover any of the lapo even if my doctor says it not for infertility. I am at a loss. I am not sure how sucessfull ivf is if you have endo???
