DH and I met with our RE today regarding new plans. Its been 2 months since the loss and I'm still bleeding so RE did a quick ultrasound to see if there are still left over tissues in the uterus.
We found that I have a cyst on my right ovary and some left over tissues in my uterus. RE also mentioned that the uterus looked abnormal. At this point, he doesn't know why and does not want to make any assumption. He put me on a birth control pill called Apri to bring on a period and hopefully clear out the tissues. If Apri does not help, then he consider doing D & C. Why not do a D & C instead of taking the pills? I'm afraid, I may never get pregnant from taking the pills. Any thoughts on this?

I don't know why he would leave products inside you. My feeling is that it puts you at risk for a pelvic infection. Is there someone you can seek a second opinion from before you start taking the pills?

Danielle - I am so sorry you are going through this.

Are your HCG levels back to normal yet?

The doctor may not want to do a D&C right now if your lining is thin if you are still bleeding this long. Perhaps the BCP will help to build up your lining, then he can reasses?? Before you got pregnant, did you have a HSG test or anything to check your uterine cavity?

I know for myself my RE wants to do a hysterosonogram after my second cycle in order to see my uterine cavity to make sure there isn't anything going on (I have fibroids), but I haven't even gotten my first period yet after 34 days. It feels like it will never end!

I am sure everything will be fine, but if you are not comfortable with your REs recommendation, it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion, or at least ask more questions if you have concerns. Hopefully someone on the forum may have some answers as well from their experience...

bunniswife, everything seemed fine after the loss. Although the ER doctor did see some left over tissues via u/s but mentioned that it'll eventually pass through, but I guess it didn't. GOSH, one thing after another. I'm so frustrated and angry.

I feel so much more relieved. HCG level is back to normal and Yes, I did get a HSG test before I got pregnant and its normal.
After the u/s, he also mentioned that the lining of my uterus doesn't look normal. I hope BCP will clean all that up so I can start a new cycle again, but now I'm concerned about the cyst on my right ovary. Has this happened to anyone after a loss?

Danielle - I know how frustrating this must be for you, because I feel the same way and I am not as far down the road as you.

So it sounds like the BCPs will help to get things regulated.

I am not taking anything to bring on a period. I think if I don't get it after 8 weeks, I will call my doctor. They told me it could take anywhere from 28 - 90 days, but I don't want to wait 3 months.

I am only at 5 weeks today, and it appears that the bleeding/spotting has stopped the last few days. I thought I ovulated the weekend of 10/24, so that would mean AF should come next week, so we'll see.

I just want to be ready to try again after the New Year, and if I don't get my cycle, I can't get that hysterosonogram done and it is just going to delay everything. I only hope and pray my fibroid shrunk during pregnancy and my RE thinks my uterus is good to go for another IUI cycle!!!

I still can't believe this happened to both of us. But I know that we will both get another BFP soon!!!

This BCP seems to help stop the bleeding, but I'm having the worse cramps.

YAY! So i see that AF popped her face. So glad for you hun! I'm still waiting for mines, but I don't think I'll get it anytime soon. I just started taking Apri (BCP) last week and its a total of 28 tablets. So I should expect to see AF sometime in December and should start Gonal-F (that's only if all the tissues pass through so I can start a fresh cycle) Gosh, its so frustrating. For the first time, I want AF to come soon.

I would never imagine this happening to us. We had such a wonderful small little group and BOOM.....it all fell apart so quick.

I'm thinking of you and know for sure that we'll get our BFP soon.

Danielle - I am glad the bleeding has stopped for you and you are on your way to having a regular cycle!!! The BCPs are doing the trick!

I was sort of surprised at getting AF myself, because I had been bleeding and spotting for so long. It's a regular, heavy period too which I never thought I would be happy for! LOL. So I will stay positive that next month will bring the same so we can move forward with the RE.

I know, our little group had so much heartache, but Jami is still going strong with her little girls. That makes me so happy and gives me hope. I know we will get our BFPs again soon...I think of you often, and always keep you in my good thoughts!!!!
