anyone have a succesful pg immediately after miscarriage?

Hi I am looking for some reassurance. I had a miscarriage about 6 weeks ago and got pregnant immediately after the miscarriage. We did not wait the recommended cycle before trying again. Truthfully I never thought it would happen it was a natural cycle and I never really ovulated well without help before. We only had sex once during our fertile time and I even jumped up to the bathroom immediately following the sex!! (Just like the good old days before ttc! he he).

My hope is that someone on this board can give me good news about themselves or someone they know who succesfully carried a pregnacy soon after a m/c. I felt like my miscarriage was rather early (5 weeks!) and we have to pay for all our fertility treatments ourselves that it was well worth any slight increased risk of m/c. I tell myself that in my head but my heart will be crushed if I lose this one too. I will blame myself even more than I did with the last one. Still I feel like we saved at least 1 -2,000 dollars and with me getting older and older some time. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!!

Dear Carrie,

I first want to say congratulation on your BFP, your beta number is awesome.
I don’t have any experience with getting pregnant right after a mc but can tell you are off to a good start.

I don’t know what the risks are after an early mc, but I hope that you are comfortable to talk to your RE or Ob/gyn for some solid advice. I am sure they see this happen, and will be on the cautious side to make sure and baby are progressing well.

Have you been able to get any suggestions from the doctors?
When is your next beta?

I am praying for your progress and healthy 9 months!!!

Again, congratulations to you and DH.

Hanan

thanks for the reply, my next beta is tomorrow so I hope to stop worrrying as much soon. I haven't really talked in depth to the RE's office yet.. they are very familiar with me and my history. I also have an identical twin sister who had some major endo problems so they are very very good about monitoring. My last pregnancy that ended in miscarriage was monitored very closely so I knew I was going to miscarry at least a week before I did which I think made it easier (if that can be true!).

I will be sure to post my beta numbers when I find them out. Good luck to you!

My sister got pregnant immediately following a miscarriage and she has a very healthy 7 1/2 year old son! I don't know if that is always the case, but for her she never even got a period in between her m/c and her pregnancy. So good luck and I pray all goes well for you.

I miscarried our first in December 2007. My husband was so adamant about waiting at least 2 cycles before trying again (b/c he heard dr recommend that). I have heard of people getting pregnant right after a miscarriage and going on to have a healthy baby. Hearing your story makes me think I missed my chance of having a natural pregnancy! I hope your beta keeps soaring and that you have a wonderful and event-free pregnancy. Anyone who has gone through a miscarriage, especially with their first baby deserves to breeze through pregnancy! Best wishes!

thanks for the sweet words, we are keeping our fingers crossed but it is definitely not the same happy carefree feeling I had in my first pregnancy. All I seem to live for is my next doctors appointment and before my second beta (which was 4 long days after my first).. I didn't sleep at all! It is a little better now and I have my first ultrasound tomorrow to check for a sac (too early for a heartbeat!).

We didn't actively try to get pregnant so this was a surprise (I knew it was possible, I just thought after a year and half we would not be able to get pregnant on our own). We are happy though cause my biological clock is ticking and we saved at least $1500-$2000 not having to do injectables, IUI, etc!

Hang in there I hope you get your own BFP again soon. I know my miscarriage was a lot harder than i thought it would be ... but I have heard that for most people once you have a pregnancy it is easier to do it biologically again! When I read your bio it made me so sad, I don't know how people who have already heard the heartbeat can be so strong when a miscarriage occurs. We knew pretty early on it was not viable but it still broke my heart. Good luck!

I had to wait 3 months after my miscarriage due to the methotrexate injection but I did conceive the first available cycle we could try and my son is happy, healthy and going on 3 months old.

After our pregnancy loss, my OB wanted us to wait at least 3 months before trying anything (naturally or IVF). I believe the reason is that it allows your body to heal and recover, and gives you some time to emotionally recover, as well. I don't think getting pregnant right away increases your odds of another miscarriage.

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy!!

A close friend miscarried at six weeks last fall. She's one of those lucky women who got pregnant the first month of trying. Their dr told them to wait a full cycle before trying again, which they did, and then got pregnant the following month. She's now at about 22 weeks and all is well.

Good luck!

I want to say thank you for all of you who have given advice. It is helpful to me also since I will be starting my FET transfer on thursday and wondered if I pushed it too soon.
