I love RMA, they are recognized as a "Center of Excellent". I did most of my monitoring in White Plains w/Dr. Klein, he's a doll. He did my IUI's. I only had to go to Manhattan for f/u w/Dr Copperman, or any monitoring that had to be done on Wednesdays or weekends, and of course for the retrieval and the transfer, which was done by 2 other doctors, in fact I never saw Dr. Copperman at all, but he was the one that made all the decisions regarding the treatment. The anethesiologist was a doll, she put me out completely since I was a wreck for the retreival.
You could get a 3rd opinion, why not?
If you look up RMA's results, they are pretty good, but I want to be part of the good statistics, hopefully next IVF, I will.

I think I should be starting my BCP's maybe around September 25 or so. That would give me a ER/ET the end of October I think.

We will definetly have a lot of news to keep up on in the next few months since we are all starting at different times.

One question about this thread. I can't find it on any forum. I had to add it to my subscriptions, because it does not show anywere else. Did anyone else have that problem?

Hooray I finally found you guys. I couldn't figure out which board to start in to find the thread. It just took me a 1/2 hour to read through all the posts to catch up with everyone.

It's hard for me to check in during the day since I just started my extreme busy season at work so don't really get a chance for any down time. I'm also going to be working late a lot of nights so may not be able to get on when I get home but I'll try to keep up.

I got today. I was actually surprised I had no cramps at all. Just a splitting headache. And boy they weren't kidding when they said it was going to be heavy. I usually only get it for 2 days. I wonder if it will stay longer this time. I hope not.

I have a follow-up with my RE on Thursday. I guess I have to wait another month before I can start again since is already here. I'm actually anxious to start again. I asked my DH tonight if we should do FET or just do IVF again to see if we could get more eggs. His look said it all. We are going to do FET. He said he doesn't want to keep the blasts frozen for too long. I tend to agree.

Kennedysmom....how's the hair. I can't wait to get mine done. I'm going to make an apt. for next weekend. I have too much going on this weekend.

Journey I hear you about bedrest after ET. I keep thinking what did I do wrong? Was I not cautious enough. Did I take it for granted. I mean I rested but didn't stay totally off my feet. I only walked around a bit but nothing strenuous most of the weekend. When I went back to work I think maybe I walked too fast, too many stairs. I work in the city so have no choice but to go up and down stairs all day on the subway. Should I have slowed down my pace. I just keep thinking that I did something wrong.

Well now that I've ranted I just want to say I'm REALLY REALLY glad to have all you wonderful ladies to talk to. I have to go walk to dog so will sign off for now.

We will have to do that, get together before the injections, how's that sound? How did you estimate when the BCPs start? I got AF full yesterday so I figured if the protocol is the same and I have a normal cycle this month I should get AF again around 8/31, if normal cycle, get day 3 bloods around 9/2, start pill same day hopefully and he kept me on them for 3 full weeks last time, which would end around 9/22, last time I got blood check 4 days later and started injectibles which would put me starting them about 9/26. If 11 days later is retrieval that would be about 10/7 for retrieval so we would only be a few weeks apart!!!!!!!! But I don't know how long he will want to wait to start, I will find out on Friday. I will press for ASAP!!!!!! So how did you get your estimated dates?
The thread is hard to find, I go to search and put in the word either support or discussion and then I usually find it if it's not in new posts. I don't know why it's so hard to find, maybe I didn't set it up properly. You're not the only one that had trouble.

Anyway, DM is working on Friday so I'm dragging my mom into the city, she loves NYC. I just booked a room 2 miles from the RE, I had points and got the room for free!!! We are going to do a mom/daughter night and next day in the city. I could use the pick me up.

You know, I've been thinking the same thing about whether or not my BFN was because of something I did wrong. I remember the day I came home, I had to go #2 really bad. And when I went, it was hard to go because I was so constipated. (I'm sorry this is TMI, but I know you ladies can relate.) I feel like I should have never attempted to go & just kept myself stopped up.

You know what else has been upsetting me? I've read where you ladies are getting follow up appts. My RE's office did not schedule one for me! When the delivered the news that my beta was negative, all they said was, "When you want to transfer the frozen embryos, give us a call!". Uuuuugggghhhhhh!
That just really pisses me off.

I also had a hard time finding this thread. What forum category is it under?

I think the one bad thing about not getting the phone call with my results was that I didn't speak with my RE directly. My DH took the call. When I asked what he said he said I'll get my period and should call to schedule a follow-up. I probably should have called him back the next day after I calmed down to find out if I could have just started right away for the FET. I could have at least started the process and then sat down with him to discuss protocol, options and what possibly went wrong. In a way I think you are lucky they just had you start up right away.

This thread is not easy to find. It's under Ovulation Testing & Tracking and then under another sub forum called Two Week Wait although if you click on the link for Ovulation Testing & Tracking, you can't find the sub forum. It's very strange. I think the best thing to do is put it in your subscriptions so you can always find it.

I CANT BELIEVE you were constipated too. I was never more constipated, this might be TMI, but I HAVE TO, sorry guys, the morning after, I was in the bathroom crying because it took me ONE PAINFUL HOUR to crap, I had to push so hard, it was the worst and I swore that I probably ruined everything, and the day after, the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 days in a row of horrible, brutal constipation, and what are you supposed to do? I HAD TO GO.
As far as the doctors office, that was strange. When I got the dreaded call on Friday, they told me to call back on Monday to schedule the f/u. I rushed the appt and was lucky to get a cancellation because my doctor is BOOKED! I'm sorry it is so hard to find this thread. I don't think I started it right, I think it's linked to the 2WW, but when I can't find it I go to the search button and put in either support or discussion, and then I find it, or you can type in your screen name and all of the posts you have typed in will pop up.

Joanna, our f/u appts are one day apart, but you lucky girl, you have icebabies waitin for you, so our cycles w/be much different. I want to be seeing your when I'm gearing up through my cycle to motivate me. I can't wait to hear your schedule!

Journey, I think that I didn't rest enough. We went to lunch after the retrieval and I stayed on the couch the rest of the day. I only slept about 3 hours and that had the bad potty incident after picking up my 12 lb cat, like an idiot. Then I rested day 2 until the next days bad potty incident. On day 3, I was stupid enough to go grocery shopping, shmuck! Than I went out for lunch, had my hair done, and my nails, sitting through most of it, and went to work for a full day 4.
Maybe next round I'll take off a week, what do you think? Not that I have much more time left to take from work.

Rosie, we should be starting BCP's right around the same time, I should start pill's about the 27th/28th How exciting !!! I remeber last cycle we started pill's right around the same time but I was on them longer than you .... I think that's one of the thing's they are changing with my cycle ... I won't be on them as long.

I know that I definitly let stress get the best of me at work during my 2ww. I have a supervisor that is just HORRIBLE. She would give me crap about leaving early for test's - I have FMLA so actually it was probably illegal of her to do that. I will go through HR with my next cycle.

I am so glad that we have this thread - yes it was hard to find but once I found it I had to subscribe (Kelli - sorry can't remember).

I think we could all sit here and try our best to figure out why things didn't work out and find something that we could have changed, but the truth is we will never know. If we followed our instructions we aren't to blame, and even if we followed our instructions we still aren't to blaim because most of the instructions are general for those 1st timers.

I started my shots last night and it was much easier this time. I told my DH that we are not stressing, we are not counting #'s nor days, I will not POAS, and if it's to be (which I know it is) it will be when the time is right.

The only reason why we didn't do a FET is because my insurance will only pay for 3 attempts per lifetime and if it doesn't work this time we will have to start all over anyway, but we'll have more to work with for Cycle #3 IF it doesn't work. The other thing is my RE explained that it only cost $3k to do a FET instead of the crazy amount being spent when doing a fresh cycle, so I figured we will milk the insurance all we can. Although I'm for a this time.

Anywho - I'm thinking of taking a trip to NY this month to go shopping for my children for school. Every year I tell them I'm going to take them and then something comes up - I will stick to it this year!

That is very upsetting that you had stress during the 2WW, not good, we can't let anyone get the best of us, we have to try and put all our positive energy into our future baby(s). I was upset alot too for a number of different reasons.
I didn't let work know anything. I did my tests in the am before work, I was late once and told them I was held up at the doctor. I had my retrieval thankfully on my day off, and I told my boss I was having surgery on the transfer day, and then called in sick on the following day. When the girls asked me at work what kind of surgery, I just said, female stuff, I don't really want to talk about it, and they dropped it.
NONE OF ANYONE'S BUSINESS.
Next cycle I will just do the same thing.
Good thing to go through HR I think, you DON'T have to tell them the exact. They DONT have to know. And then when you are pregnant , you could even say that you had corrective surgery if you want, it's up to you.
One of my DM best friends is dying of cancer, I didn't think he'd still be here as of today, poor guy, only 47, wife, 2 twin boys about 7, and that's something we have both been very upset about through the process. Its tough. We are going through one of the most emotional challenging situations of our lives, and life still happens, and we have to find a way to stay calm, not get upset, and be positive. A whole lot easier to say then do, right?

Hey Journey, You have started, I am sooooo excited for you, wow! I think you made a great decision, you have moved so quickly and take all of the insurance coverage you can, milk them, I REALLY think it's going to happen this time for you
You are very lucky to have the coverage through 3 cycles, GO GIRL, I'm hoping you won't need all 3, hehe.
How is the protocol different this time, did you do shots and BCP together?

So far the protocol looks the same just a different amount for the Menopur (less). Not sure what's going to happen after Saturday when I go in for my U/S & B/W.

We will be coming from Northern Virginia to NY - that may be a great idea to meet up and have lunch/dinner or something.

Mind if I join you? I got my BFN this morning on a HPT that was then confirmed a few hours later by the beta. I do so wish we were all getting together on the Due Date Buddies thread instead of here!

Thank you ladies for admitting you were also bitter and jealous about the BFP’s. I was starting to think I was the only one and then felt like a jerk besides. Everyone was always posting how happy they were for each other and I was like, “well I’m not happy, why can’t I get a BFP too?” I mean, it’s awesome for them and a long time coming for all of us, there were just SO many more feelings than only happiness.

8kitts – This is two days late, but there’s an entire thread about traveling with your injectibles and no one had any problems. They recommended taking your prescription along just in case, but they all had the needles & meds in their carry ons and no one said a word. As for the cooler, a friend just brought an individually wrapped veggie brat camping last weekend in an empty water bottle with a water bottle ice pack in next to it. Worked like a charm.

Journey – Oh my goodness, you’re really jumping right back on the horse! I can’t believe you’re starting your meds already and know when your ER will be. That’s wonderful! It must be exciting but nerve wracking too. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you, me, and everyone else here!

A word about the PIO shots, if you had bruising pain last time you might consider doing the shots in the morning. That’s what we did because it worked best with DH’s schedule and after the shots I’d make sure to either walk around or just stand on the other leg and swing the leg that got the shots back and forth for a few minutes. I think moving the muscle gets the oil moving, too, so it doesn’t sit there and hurt. It works much better than a heating pad. I also of course had DH do the shots in the upper half of the circle so it was well above the crack line, but as long as I moved it around the lower ones didn’t hurt either.

Kennedysmom – I won’t have a follow-up appt with the RE either unless I ask for one. The RN who called was really nice and walked me through the next steps, told me I could stop all my meds (and rip off those **** patches!). The only thing I’d ask is if he has any idea what went wrong. Other than that we’re pretty much locked into doing a FET next because of the shared risk plan we’re on. The RN said to call when my period starts if I want to do the FET the very next cycle.

Girls, PLEASE don’t beat yourselves up rehashing what you did wrong the last cycle. The post-ET instructions given by each RE are so different, they probably don’t even know what works best across the board but only what their own patients have had success with. There’s one woman who posted that her RE gave her no restrictions after any of her three cycles and she’s had three health pregnancies and three healthy children. It’s good to be careful, but please don’t add even more stress to yourselves by over-analyzing it!
