Unhappy 1 day periods?? PLEASE READ! Need insight!

I have a question for anybody who might have some insight: About 5 years ago I was put on the bc patch which caused my periods to go from 5-6days to 3 days in length. I was only on it for a few months before stopping. But, my periods never went back to normal. Infact, they have continued to get shorter and lighter. These days my period is about a day long and what I used to consider medium flow. I believe I O every month(OPKs always + and past progesterone test +) and I have my period every month. MY QUESTION IS: Has ANYBODY every heard of anyone in this situation? We have been ttc for 4 yrs and I've never had a BFP. I feel like it has to be related, but my RE isn't really concerned. Any info will help. Thanks!

I've never been through this myself, but I have heard that short periods are not particularly good for your lining. What have they had to say about your lining? How long have you been seeing this RE? I think if it's been awhile, it's always worth exploring a second opinion.

I am sorry to hear you have been trying for so long, it has been almost 5 years for us. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Jess! We've been with our RE for about a year but have only been active for about 6 months or so. I had an endo biopsy a few months ago that showed a borderline problem. My RE said that using Femara would help build my lining or using progesterone sups after ovulating. At my last few u/s appoinments the tech said my lining looks perfect(it builds up to where it should and thins out like it should). So, I don't know. Everyone keeps telling me I'm "just lucky" and I keep telling them "not if I cant get pregnant!"

inspired - I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE!!! My periods got very light after starting nuvaring and stayed that way after stopping it to TTC. All the docs say I'm just lucky and there seem to be no lining issues. For all of my IUIs, I had between 7-8mm lining 2-3 days before the IUI, which they said was good. I have seen women with better on these boards, but I think 8mm is OK.

I have been on femara and asked for prometrium. My endometrial biopsy was normal.

I have to believe what the doctors say, but yes, I have always wondered too!!!

Bistro~ Its so frustrating isnt it?! I sure dont feel lucky!! To me it seems like its the only consistent "problem" I have, so it must be SOMETHING!

Good luck with your upcoming IVF process. We're considering moving to IVF quicker than we first thought. The statistics for IUI and unexplained IF are just SOOOOO poor we aren't sure if we're just spinning our wheels or not.

I would definatley get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion. I actually had one RE tell me I could not get pregnant and that I should seek a surrogate, he said if I happened to accidentally become pregnant it could lead to me or the baby not surviving! I would get some sort of a period every 28 days but it was so light I only needed a panty liner for a day or two. They were extremely painful as well. I was devasted and cried for days which almost ended my marriage. After that I searched online and found new doctors which lead me to where I am today. I am not pregnant but I have had a few surgerys and I now have a full period flow and was told I would be able to carry a baby. I would have never of made it this far if I hadn't went out and looked for other doctors.
