! Good luck on your IVF. As for this statement-I have only heard the opposite. How can you fix what you don't know is broken? If you have PCOS, then can treat that with meds. If you have endometriosis, they can remove it. If you have thyroid issues, there is medication. But if you just can't get pregnant for some unknown reason, how do you fix that?

Hang on for the Ride

The journey of IF is frustrating, scarey, stressful and at times depressing! I myself have unexplained infertility. I had U/S, hysterosaplingogram, genetic testing, and many, many, many blood tests. My hubby is perfect and apparantly so am I.

TTC for over 2yrs, 1 Ectopic , 1 MC , 3 cycles of clomid .

Hang in there as this journey can take down many roads, through rough weather and days full of sunshine.

Unexplained Infertility -- who is out there??

I too have 'unexplained' infertility. One problem I do have is high prolactin levels, but that just begs the question: what causes those levels to be high?

I worry about being pushed into costly treatments if there's a problem that might be a little harder to figure out but ends up being cheaper and less invasive.

Dear Artlawprod - My husband and I also have "unexplained infertility." I have been diagnosed with a somewhat low follicle count, but what does that mean anyway? If I've had the drugs that produce more follicles, then why hasn't it happened? Husband has great sperm, periods are regular etc. We've been having unprotected sex for 2 years, trying aggressively for the past 1 year to get pregnant, fertility treatment for last 5 months - 2 failed Clomid/IUI attempts, 3 failed FSH/IUI attempts and looking forward (?) to IVF for next cycle. It's extremely frusterating - especially when everyone around me seems to get pregnant by snapping their fingers! And, not to mention that everyone thinks I am crazy because I am so emotional and have a very hard time being with my pregnant friends. Why is this so hard for them to understand?! Anyway, I see that you posted in November - I'm wondering if you've had any success?

It's frustrating not knowing. I do not have any children and conceived the first time we tried, but miscarried at 6weeks. Been trying ever since, had hormone levels checked normal, HSG normal; ovulation confirmed; husband normal. Did ultrasound with saline and found polyps and thickened endometrium but
RE said it would not affect my ability to get pregnant. Had D &C and hysterscopy. Hope this helps.

How did IVF go?
Iam doing IUI.....looks like we are in the same boat...nothing really wrong to fix but yet no baby. If you are 35 and have been trying...just keep bugging that dr...they just try to put you off by saying try a natural cycle this month.......come on we have been natural for a year. You just have to push the Drs. I am wondering why they didn't try IUI?

Most important test for anyone TTC

Unexplained infertility .. sounds like chromosomal anomalies.

All people TTC, both male and female partners should have a chromosome analysis.

I feel health insurance should cover it but they do not always and the cost is around $500 per person. The purpose is to determine if the parent's to be are chromosomally normal. This really affects not only the ability to have children but is also a large reason for unknown conditions that could affect the offspring. I am not talking about genetic testing for eye color, height, genetic diseases like cancer or such. I am speaking about chromosomal abnormalities that include balanced and unbalanced translocations. Some who will never be able to genetically have a child and then some who have a 16% chance of a normal offspring or 84% of multiple miscarriages. And in the 84% is the chance of: a child with an extra chromosome (trisomy) like a Down's syndrome child or for the chromosomes that are even less happy about having three, then having a severely deformed child that may survive past birth but would require extensive medical treatments and a poor quality of life for the child and family, for the child's lifetime, or having grief and loss of a full term stillborn.

I really think we should know what to expect. It's not that the information will or will not scare you, Because it will and the waiting will too. It is something that if we all knew then we would have the time to prepare ourselves.
-GracieB (thankful i know about me and trying to improve my chances) Much baby dust to all.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this site......I just joined today. I am starting my first IUI in August with Clomid + injections and am nervous and stressed out. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years. We finally started going to a fertility clinic in at the beginning of this year. I have been through bw, us hsg and my husband had semen analysis and everything was normal. So now I am diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I have been very depressed, stressed out and nervous throughtout this whole process. I have also been researching success rates for IUI and that has been bringing me down and making me not very optimistic about this process. This is all very new to me. I joined this because I think discussing these issues with other woman that are going through the same thing could help me. (I do not know anyone personally that has gone through this)

Question My Friend has no eggs at all.

We went to the same gynea. the gynea was supprise to see that she had no eggs at all. But, one thing unusual, she actually had a son 6 years before.
the gynea finds it a miracle.
