I personally have not had this done with my embryos but DH and I did undergo chromosomal testing after our failed IVF. There are a few people on this forum who have done PGD and we've got great success. I believe that we have two women who had 100% implantation success. But I do know that we've had one failed cycle too. It's worth looking into and I'd say it's worth it.

We have friends who are both carriers for CF and for them to have a baby there is a 50 % chance it will be a carrier of CF 25% OK and 25% affected by CF. They will probably to PGD to avoid having a child with CF. It is a lot to think about because you have to understand what you want to do with the information. Just wanted to share what I know about the process. Ask your doctor what he thinks they testing could show for you as a couple.

Jen and Linea,
Thank you both for your information. The funny thing is that we would not be undergoing the testing to look for any specific genetic condition - neither of us have any problems in our families. The reason for the testing would strictly be to eliminate the chromosomally imperfect eggs and only use the eggs without a defect. She said this would improve our odds of success dramatically. Jen - how did you do the chromosomal testing without doing it during an IVF cycle? I would be very interested in this type of testing rather than having to mess with my embryos. I think it seems a little odd for our doctor to suggest that we do this testing when there is no family history of disorders for either of us- isn't that the reason that most people do this type of testing? Has anyone that you have heard of done this type of testing just to eliminate the defective eggs and have a better chance at success? Thank you again for your responses. This is all so confusing! Blessings, Cathy ![]()
