So today I had my informational meeting with the IVF nurse so she could go over everything with us about expectations. Oh my gosh is it overwhelming!!!!!! I almost started crying in the middle of it because it just seems like so much. Im sure I will be fine and it is all definately worth it in the long run.
At first when talking to the nurse she said that during my sept cycle I would have a test done then with my oct cycle I would start bcp's. I expressed my concern that i do not get regular periods on my own and AF is due 9/11 but if I dont get it, we are looking at about 2 weeks later before it starts which puts me the end of sept and the same situation would repeat for my oct cycle which would most likely mean that I wouldnt start bcp's until nov! The nurse said she would talk w/ the others to see if I could start bcp's with sept cycle. The test I have to have done with my sept cycle is a cervical culture and a uterine measurement. Does anyone know why they wouldnt want me to be on bcp's during the same cycle i have to have the test?? I just figured I could do them both at the same time. Sorry this is long but its all new to me. i figured you girls would probably have an answer.

Hi!
Had my appt yesterday to go over everything with th dr and to sign the consent forms - DH and I never discussed the FET and had to sign the forms about what happens if one of us bites the dust or we divorce. It was just another Oh! Never thought of that! Kind of funny. Anywho - no BCP for me!! Woohoo! I was really nervous about that since alot of you seem to be on it and they make me very very sick. But it was never brought up and my friend who went there didn't take them either so I think its not part of their protocol. So now, just waiting for CD1!

Hi everyone -
I have a weird question about protocols - for the last 5 cycles I've been on a microdose flare protocol. This cycle I am going to CCRM and they gave me my calendar, etc...but someone just asked me if I am doing microdose flare again and I'm not sure- the calendar doesn't look much different - I mean, I start lupron in September, get a period and then start stims (I've never started lupron in advance before - so is that what the difference between a regular cycle and a flare is?). If you don't know the difference either but you are a "normal" ivf cycle - does it sound like a regular cycle to you? (lupron 10 until AF, then lower to 5, I think, with starting stims after AF?). I know, 5 cycles sounds like a lot, but we've had the same RE and I've recently discovered that he had us on some really strange protocols so this time around, I have a better feeling. My new RE has decided to treat this cycle like IVF #1 considering our weird medicine history... Thanks.

Alsia - i am so happy that you appointment went well, and you are right when we got to that point in the conversation we weren't sure what to do... i think i get them. as for the BCPs, some clinics do and others don't. i know that my clinic likes to use them because they only do cycles every other month so that they can regulate us and they also said that it supresses your ovaries so that you produce more eggs, but in reality, i think a lot of this is a guessing game
Siren - i have no idea why you can't take the tests and BCPs at the same time it might have something to do with your hormone levels. and i know that it is a lot of information, so you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask, there are a lot of veterans on here. good luck sweets!! heather - thanks for your opinion, it seems like my embryos all go to crap after day 4, it is so heartbreaking to hear that all your embryos are doing great and they are the top level to go in for the day of the transfer to find out that only one is in good shape and there is one other that is ok... that is why i am on all the vitamins and stuff in hopes that we have a few more to choose from. i asked about a three day transfer but my RE still thinks i should be doing a 5 day... i guess i just have to trust him  rana and best of luck on your fresh cyclei counted... nine more weeks until my retrieval, can you tell i am not very patient?....hope that you have a wonderful weekend

sue - i wish i could answer your question but i have always done the lupron at 10 for a few days before AF and then went back to 5 when i was stimming... i don't konw what it is called but that is the way my last two cycles have gone and that is the way this one will be also. good luck

Hi Siren - same protocol here - Lupron 10, then AF, then down to 5 with stims...

I added myself to the list, I'm supposed to wait for my next
to start the b/w and baseline u/s. Meanwhile I am taking RJ/BP daily as is my DH. I was also taking prenatal vitamins but I'm so bad I keep forgeting them. I am also trying to eat healthier and not consuming any alcohol. Not that I drank every week, but if I go out I just have one beer if any at all or a glass of wine. I want to have my body are read as possible and I'm doing all I can to help produce good eggs  Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!!

Nese, I completely agree with you about just smelling wine. I haven't had a glass in over a year and I really miss it.
I've also given up caffiene- and I'm in Seattle so we're even more surrounded by Starbucks than everywhere else! I will let myself have a cup of decaf during AF, but that is it. I used to have a latte a day habit. Sigh, the things we have to give up.

Heather! VAL & SUE -- I wish I could answer your questions but I really not good with all the protocol stuff -- i'm just on ivf #2 and still learning. And I'm on BCP now per dr. orders while waiting for FET. I don't why you can't do your tests and still be on BCP... i'm NO help !!!ALISA -- when is CD1? It's so nice to have dates and a plan. You guys doing anything fun this weekend? Me and DH and friends are hanging by the pool. There will be 2 babies at our BBQ on Sunday so I can practice!! I've never been around babies much!! TC lg

Arrival of the Meds!
hi ladies~
well bright and early this morning our meds came. i was so excited.........and then....... i opened the box. wow! nerves kicked in. now i am freaking out! i happen to have a phobia of needles but have been getting used to them throughout this process, today my phobia was reaffirmed. i don't start injections until sept 9th, so maybe over the next two weeks i'll grow fond of that big box and all the pokey wonderful stuff inside hope everyone is doing well. great to see on the new ladies on the thread. what a great support! Thank you to everyone for trying to help me understand what the dr meant in my appt yesterday.
Just to update you, I talked to the nurse today and she said it was ok for me to start my bcp's with my sept cycle. I am actually now excited because I know we dont have to wait as long to get the ball rolling. YAY! I have to now change my status on the list!! I'm moving on up!!!! (or down the list, lol, however you look at it )
