Hi ladies,
I'm not completely ready to give up on the idea of an October IVF. I'm super tired of messing around with IUIs and being patient. I'm ready to get the show on the road.

I'm going to let my RE know how I'm feeling about it before our consult on 9/2 so she can gently discourage DH from wanting to continue with the IUIs. I am guessing she may already have figured that out because of the questions I was asking her while we were having our quality bonding time yesterday. Apparently the challenges we were having with the IUI made it more similar to an ET. Now I know what to expect!

Busy bee...

to our new folks! Is it silly that I'm kinda excited to have a guy in our group? I think that'll help me understand where my hubby is coming from. Praying...any advice on how to help him deal with this? He has a low count too and I'm afraid he feels guilty.

Lisag, I am extremely busy! I live a little south of Macon, but work in Macon every day. I'm a gastroenterology PA and I love my job! I work WAY too much though and need to find a way to release my stress. I got on the treadmill today, which I love when I have a chance. I'm thinking of doing acupuncture these next few weeks. Do you know if there's any benefit from acupuncture for low count? I was thinking DH could do it too! I love it, makes me feel so relaxed. I often fall asleep.

In other news, I've been on BCPs for 2 weeks now. My earlier headaches subsided, but I've been bleeding since Wednesday. It was spotting at first but now it's like . And I already had this once this month...ggrrrrr! The nurse has yet to write me back about it, but I'm being patient. I know that you have to prioritize and there are more emergent things than some breakthrough bleeding. Plus, she's my friend. I'm resisting the urge to call her at home.

Hope everyone had a great Monday! I'm on call tonight and it's nice to get the busiest part of my week over early.

Its official, I'm now an October IVF gal! I'm a little dissapointed to have to postpone, it feels this waiting will never end. But on the other hand I know this is the best thing to do and also it gives me more time to take the RJ/BP.

Lisag - Looks like we will be ET buddies and 2ww buddies afterall!!!! This is another positive thing for my October change.

Krista - Talk to your RE tell him/her how you really feel and ask him to make a recommendation, then do what you feel is right. Good Luck!

Jenlynn - I'm happy we have a guy among us too I'm with you, this will give us a man's perspective.

Prayingforjustone - You'll get lots of advice and support here. Good Luck on your appointment, keep us posted.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the welcome! My wife started BCP’s last night, so our first IVF cycle has officially started. We are scared and nervous, yet very excited to hopefully be parents soon! Being a Dad is going to be awesome!

Jenlynn,I completely understand how and why your husband feels guilty. We love our wives so much and want for nothing more than to give them the children that they’ve always wanted. Since we can’t (naturally), we feel awful that our wives have to go through the very tough and emotional process of IVF. If we could take all the shots, we would…if we could go under for ER, we would, but we can’t…even though we are causing the IF struggle. To be honest, it took me a while to get through this. Now, I have accepted what I can’t change, and am just trying to be the best and most supportive husband as I possibly can be throughout this whole process. Do you ladies have any tips or nice things your husbands have done for you that I could steal? J

I am probably more open than most guys, so if anyone has any questions or needs advice from a guys perspective, I will be here! Otherwise, I look forward to listening and sharing all of the experiences we have through IVF, and I am already looking forward to good news for everyone!

Jason, I think it's great that you're so supportive of your wife. I like your question about what our DHs can do to support us. I'll answer first.

I love that my Dh doesn't get upset when I have a mood swing and holds my hand through our appointments. Since I had a lousy IUI this week I don't think I could've made it without him!

So, I started lurking here b/c I wanted to see if I recognized anyone in the October group and because I really want to be part of a group again! (though DH has been trying to limit my online fertility community time when I am not exactly cycling- trying to get me to be "normal" for a while!). Anyway, I will be cycling early October with a new RE - very different odds for us (CCRM). I will be starting lupron in September though I am happily skipping the BCP phase (I get miserable and moody worse than the stims so the doc said if all looked good, I could skip them - boy was DH happy. Said he could put away the chains he anticipated needing!).

I noticed one husband here- that is great! Don't worry about the male factor thing- we don't really care why we are here...we just want it to work! I had no noticeable problems when we started and DH felt awful, but I've come to find out that I'm now causing much of this delay (or so it seems) and he is as forgiving as I was...we are in it together. I wouldn't want to have kids with anyone but him. So, just be prepared to be patient as she gets moody...

Oh have to run...more later:-)

I will also tell you what I love more about my husband throughout this rollercoaster. He's so patient, I get moody, emotional and such a funk sometimes I don't know how he stands me. But he's so patient, he's always comforting and is always asking me what can he do to make me feel better. Just him asking is enough for me.

I can tell you I have felt the "guilt" you talked about too. I have felt I failed him as a wife because I couldn't give him children (naturally). But I guess that is something everyone who suffers from infertility feels at one point. With a lot of support and love you get over it and start focusing on working together to achieve the goal of becoming parents.

Interesting day...

Hey guys! It's been an interesting day. I got 2 job offers today. I haven't been looking for a job, these people sought me out. One of them is in a specialty that I know is the reason I was put on this earth. I'm listening to the ins and outs of the job. It would make me sad to leave my current physician and nurse though. Lots to think about.

In regards to our earlier convo about guilt. I get where DH is coming from. He's never said anything about feeling responsible, but I know him well. I've tried to understand it from his point of view. The thing is, he had cancer as a child. His treatment (3 years worth) most likely caused his current problem. I'm struggling to find a way to adequately tell him that I'm so thankful that he survived that. I'm thankful that he's my husband. I'm thankful that he was saved just to meet me. I wouldn't choose to be married to anyone else. I want to have children with him. I want children to learn from us, to see how strong our love is. I've told him all these things, but it doesn't seem enough. He hates watching me go through the injections and multiple ultrasounds. He thinks that he should have to go through more because he has the "problem". Well, we have the problem as a couple and I want him to know that. Suggestions?

Praying...it's not in the big things. It's lots of little things that make us know you're in it with us. DH is there for every one of my shots, holding my hand, offering to do it for me. I would never let him, btw. He came to all my u/s in the beginning, but I let him off the hook for that. He does call after each one to see how it went. And he's totally invested in what I'm saying. Nothing is distracting him. Sometimes he'll make me my favorite dinner or dessert if I'm having a particularly hard day (like when the follies aren't as mature as they should be). It's the little details that make it.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Fingers Crossed

Hello everybody...I am new here, but I was reading everyones replies and just had to join. It is great to know there are others out there that are going through the same things my husband and I are going through. We have been TTC for almost two years now and in May started going to a fertility doctor. We are up for our first IVF cycle in Oct and VERY nervous.

Feb.-April Chlomid

June-1st IUI (I had to take a few months off from testing, I was crushed when it didn't work)

Oct-Ist IVF

I am so glad I have found others to talk to about this...I feel really alone, noone I know has ever had to go through anything like this.

Hi girls!
JENNLYN -- It sounds like you're in demand. What is the specialty of your dream job ...the new offer...just curious. It sounds like everything is going great for you! it's going to be your month! About ACCP I think it would benefit you and DH but I i'm still a newbie at that so I might ask some of the other girls about your DH. Sorry to hear about your DH's cancer but i'm glad he's ok. Try not to be to stressed with all that work.
yogagrrl and linteach! Yogagrrl I noticed your sig ...this is #6 -- wow! How go you cope? Linteach the info on this forum is invaluable! We're for each other!
JASON - It is great to have a man's perspective. You are already being so supportive by being on this forum. Advice -- just ditto to what the other girls said.
ANABEL -- My buddy! You know we will be in our 2WW wait before you know it.... Have a great day everyone!

Room for 1 more???

Is there room for 1 more in here? As you can see by my sig we have just made the move to IVF. After our last BFN we went for a consult which resulted in sitting out Aug which was good for me b/c everything was getting so draining.
Since my RE visit, I have assummed I would be going through an Oct IVF so I started reading this thread, but I didn't want to post b/c I was unsure when everything would occur. I am starting my 1st round of IVF with my sept cycle which would put my ER/ET in Oct.
Tomorrow we have a consult visit about IVF at our RE and they will go over everything with us and I am assumming we will have a better idea of when all will occur.

Wishing everyone the best of luck with our OCT IVF's!!!!!!!
