It just takes one!

I am looking for experiences on transferrring one embryo. It doesn't matter if it was from a fresh or frozen cycle.
I had 3 eggs retrieved, all mature
2 fertilized
2 day report was 1-4 cell grade A- and 1-1 cell grade C-.
So, it looks like I will have only one to transfer tomorrow. I am trying really hard to keep my hopes up. To feel positive about it but, I am struggling.

This is my first and only IVF. We just can't afford another cycle. Everything just feels so final.

Anyone out there in the same boat?

Hey. I only had one transfer this last time, too. Mine did implant, but didn't continue to develop. I hope all goes well with you tomorrow. I really does take only one.

I only had 2 survive to day 5, and one was a pretty crappy one. They did transfer both, but we pretty much figured one was a lost cause as it wasn't really maturing well. The other one did take though. I have friends that have only had 1 transferred where it worked.

Hi there! It really does only take one! I had 3 mature eggs retrieved, and 2 fertilized. My RE only does 5 day transfers so I wasn't sure I'd even make it to transfer. Anyway, the morning of my transfer I found out that one embryo had arrested and the other one was still going but slowing down (was a Morula and not a blast). Like you, this was my one and only shot so I was scared beyond belief. But my lil girl is growing and kicking inside of me as I type this! She is measuring ahead of schedule! Do not give up hope, it can happen!

I don't have an experience to share, but do know that there are lots of REs out there who will only transfer one and have great success with it.

you are right, it only does take one. in Europe where the have state covered health care, they usually only do one because they do not want the threat of multiples. i wouldn't worry because you are on your way to a BFP!!!

I wanted to wish you luck. During my first IVF I had 13 eggs retrieved but only 3 fertilized. By my day 3 transfer I only had one embryo. But it only takes one! I have a beautiful little girl. So please don't give up hope.

Deanna (dlrust1) - Thank you so much for starting this thread! I am preparing for an est. ER Aug. 12th and had my 2nd U/S today and she only saw 3 good eggs. It really freaked me out since I had 6-8 on my left & 4-6 on my right ovary before beginning this IVF protocol. However, I am in a study so we didn't have a choice.

Ladies - YOU are ALL so WONDERFUL!!! You just don't know how much better you made me feel to hear your stories! Thank you so very much!!!
