Just threw that little bit of info out there. Take it as you want to. I'm opting to stay away from it due to the fact that DH had very severe asthma as a child, and I have it. DH is a scientist in the food industry so he gets all of these new studies, etc. all the time. I don't know how much stock I put in a lot of what these things say............to early most of the time to know.

Thanks Janice. I just looked up the article, and several others, and it looks like it is one of those 'bandwagon' things. I did find some other 'studies' saying that the link only exists if the parents have asthma/allergies, and not for the normal population.

Everything in moderation. I have asthma and allergies, although not to nuts. I like my occasional PB&J and I am not giving them up If my child is to develop asthma, it is because there is a hereditary link. Hopefully exposing the child to a variety of allergens in utero will help prevent allergies and asthma later on.

I think that given the variations in the population, and given the fact that almost ALL people eat peanuts or peanut products, (i.e. peanut butter), it's very likely that any number of studies could be conducted to point to something being caused by something.

So if they took 1000 children with asthma and tried to figure out what food/s their mothers had eaten in common... they might have come up with peanuts. (Again, since most everyone eats peanuts, that's sort of a "duh, no brainer" commonality). BUT, it's more than likely that it wasn't a true cause. I'm not a scientist, just a logical thinker.

I ate peanuts with all my kids, but there's no asthma in my family. None of my kids have it. In fact, they really don't have any allergies at all. (Except the oldest, who gets stuffed up when he drinks too much milk)

Moderation. Always moderation.

I think your oldest might be like me lactose intolerant. My nose itches so badly when I consume too much dairy. I did not find out that me, mom, and brother all have it. I also get terrible gas cramps from it.

As for the eating, I think u ladies are all right. I have been letting myself get hungry and not staying on top of having small meals.

I am thinking about being tested for gd b/c I have been getting light headed spells and stuff also. I have severe pcos and insulin resistance so I would rather find out now than later and take better care of the babies.

I found that I couldn't eat anything w/protein. Carbs were the only thing that would stay down. My OB wasn't concerned. Just eat whatever doesn't make you sick. Even if it is not the most well rounded meal/snack. I think the most important thing is to not get hungry. Although, nothing really helped w/my morning sickness. My OB gave me phenergen, it did help on really bad days. The only problem was that it made me drowsy. Which wasn't so bad. At least it helped me sleep through the misery. I know they say not to drink caffeine, but after a month of pure torture, I found that a little bit of diet coke helped somewhat. My OB said a soda or 2 a day is fine. Oh, I also tried the motion sickness bands. They helped for about an hour and then the nausea came back. Might be worth a shot. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. I tried it all!! btw-the b6 didn't work for me, but give it a try. My RE initially told me b6 and unisom, but the unisom made me feel way too loopy. They have lollipops that have b6, kinda like a preggie pop. B-natal.com These helped me for about 5 minutes. You can order them online or see if your pharmacy can get them. I was not kidding when I said I tried it all-LOL!

I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad. Just wanted to tell you that my gestational carrier was feeling VERY similar. Turns out she has twins in there AND has early gestational diabetes. She got hers around 5-6 weeks pregnant. Her OB thinks it is signs of type II coming on. She is now on medication, feeling a lot better with the dizzy spells, and is eating every two hours. It has really helped her. She is also constantly extremely hungry like she's never been before. Good luck to you and congratulations!!

Jen, I agree. It's like jumping on the bandwagon about eating organic or getting cancer from red meat.

same here, but I wonder if generations of people gave their kids this stuff and only recently have we had a spike in kids w/ these severe allergies.

it does make me wonder what to do about the parents who say that their kids have allergies and yet never tested. I have run into the same people who tell me their kids are strict vegetarians on soy supplements b/c they want to be and they are 2. Honestly, I have met kids who are vegans and the parents are not and Love them,,,they are so cool. but it is so strange to say your two year old who is just learning how to put together sentences can make that decison...i dunno maybe these are genius kids and I don't know it. Could be.
