Amh

Hi everyone,

Have any of you had your AMH levels tested? Mine were tested last week and came back lower than I want, but still within the range that the RE is happy to move forward with an IVF. However, I am now curious and very little is available online - particularly for women whose AMH has above 1 but below 2...anyone else have this happen? Did you get pregnant?

Thanks!

Amh

My RE had mine tested before I was accepted into the ivf shared risk bc my was fsh was slightly elevated (10), and she thought it could help my case. My results were a 2.1, and she seemed to be happy about that-they said they wanted it anywhere above .5. I guess it did help bc I was accepted into the shared risk program. She said bc of my age (31) they are optimistic....we'll see! Beta tomorrow for 1st ivf but I am sure it's negative-all of my POASs have been!

I noticed you have endo., me too, between stage 1 and 2 so quite mild, but I tend to think that this is all related....the endo affects egg quantity and quality which causes a high FSH/low AMH. My best guess!

I'd love to hear from those who did get pregnant and what your AMH was.

My AMH came back at 0.06. Pretty much undetectable. I'm currently pregnant from a natural cycle following a failed IVF. I don't know how reliable the AMH numbers are; It's not the end all, be all. I hear of plenty of women with low AMH's get BFP's while women with very high AMH's do not. Good luck!!

WOW, that is so inspirational! So you conceived naturally during the month you have to take off in between ivf cycles? Can I ask what your FSH is and is your infertility specified?

This gives us all so much hope, thank you so much for sharing!

Wow- thanks for the great responses! I am so happy to hear of the pregnancies! You know, you do this IF thing for a while and you start to think you know everything and then they shoot another test at you!

LGB- I had a lap done to rule out an ectopic in January and they found mild endo on my uterus which they removed. The endo is the only thing that I can't rule out as to why I've had problems conceiving. Everything else is A-ok. But, I also just changed RE's and found out that my prior protocols were really strange so I may have been doomed from the start -hoping this cycle will be different.

My AMH was 1.38, which they said was fine. They were wanting greater than a 1.5, a 2 would have been amazing!!! but, they told me they were happy with anything over a 1 and that the 1.38 corresponded to the 15 antral follicles they saw...so I guess I am okay, just not going to get tons and tons of eggs, it seems. (I was just hoping they'd come back with a higher number...I just can't seem to help focusing on the negative! )

LGB-
I'm currently 35. The last fsh/CCT I had tested was a year ago, and it was 9 on d3 and 7 on d10. My diagnosis was diminished ovarian reserve and poor egg quality. I also have endo. I have 2 failed IVF cycles; the 1st one cancelled due to poor response, the 2nd we made to ET with only 1 embryo. Because of the endo., poor response and low AMH, my RE said my chance of conceiving with my own eggs was very low. I also had 2 previous m/c before 7 weeks. My husband and I were really thinking it was a lost cause and were looking into ED. I got pregnant the cycle after my 2nd IVF and found out at my annual ob/gyn appt. I was shocked and scared to say the least. But, I'm at 8 weeks, and so far so good- healthy hb, measuring on track. I was prescribed a high dose of DHEA leading up to my 2nd cycle, took a ton of supplements, and had acupuncture 2/week for 2 months. I have to think that some of that helped me conceive.

I feel extremely lucky, and we're cautiously optomistic that now is our time. Good luck!

That is truly amazing! I am so happy for you, a huge congrats!!!!!!!!!

Did your RE prescribe the DHEA? I am going to ask mine about taking that. And which supplements did you take? Were they from your acupuncturist? I have been going once a week for the past couple of months.

I think my protocol was not right for me...I got 10 eggs but most of them immature and the mature ones were poor quality. We're jumping back into IVF #2 in September, after we meet with 2 other practices to get 2nd opinions and see which one we feel fits us best.

Thanks LGB,
Like I said, we're hopeful, but cautious.

My RE prescribed DHEA 75mg/day, 1/2 in am, 1/2 in pm. I think the pharmacy grade DHEA is better quality. He then upped it to 150/day after bloodwork showed my levels were not as high as he wanted. After hearing horror stories, I would be cautious to go higher than 75 without Dr. advice- hair loss being the biggest concern.

I also took L'Argenine, Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen, CoQ10, and baby aspirin, as well as a women's wellness pack with other vitamins, fish oil... I didn't do any herbs from my acupuncturist for the 2nd cycle, although I have taken them in the past. I really took anything and everything that is supposed to help egg quality.

This process is so frustrating, especially when your body doesn't respond the way you want. Best of luck with your 2nd opinions and I hope you find the right fit for your next cycle.

aj73-Thank you for the supplement info-this is great!
I hate to ask so many questions, but can you tell me where you bought them all, how you found out which ones to take, etc? Were they also by your REs recommendation? Did your RE say they all OK to take having endometriosis? I'd like to start some but don't know which ones to do...my acup. told me that royal jelly and bee pollen don't fit my case-I have no idea why. She said we're going to talk about it at my next session next week (she was waiting to see if my beta was positive or not before talking to me about things we can do to improve my egg quality).
Thank you!

No problem! I'm happy to answer any questions. I bought most of the supplements at Wild Oats (Whole Foods) or other natural grocers. I bought the wellness pack from my acupuncturist. They are by Metagenics and they aren't sold in stores. My acu. told me about L'Argenine- I think it helps with blood flow? and therefore is taken a lot during IVF cycles. I really just heard about them from researching ways to improve egg quality and from others' success stories. There are a lot of positive comments on this forum about Royal Jelly. I didn't discuss the supplements (aside from DHEA) with my RE, so I'm not sure how they interact with endo. My RE did recommend baby aspirin after my 2nd m/c. But, who knows whether any of it helped or if it was just a coincidence. I have to think something helped though!!
