Help! - Progesterone from shot made me swell!

I have been taking the shots for 5 weeks now and this has never happened. I did open a new bottle tonight however. We just did the shot and within a few minutes after having done it, there was a raised patch of skin about 3 inches below the shot - like a giant welt and it seems to be filled with fluid.

I am pregnant and initially my progesterone was very low (which is why I was kept on the shots) and they added suppositories. However, they just took me off the suppositories - and now this - I don't know if the progesterone has gone into the muscle. I'm afraid that if I don't get the necessary progesterone that something horrible could happen. Does anyone have experience with this or any advice? Should we redo the shot? Do you think I should use a suppository tonight? I can't seem to get in touch w/any on call nurse or pharmacy. I'm very worried!

No need for a response - but thanks to anyone who was considering offering one. I finally got a hold of the on call nurse and she said it seemed to be an allergic reaction but that the progesterone should sink in just fine. So, I'm at ease now. Thank you

Happened to me several times, my progesterone was also a little low to start out. Try a warm compress and massaging the area after the shot to move the progesterone around.

Congrats! Isn't it a thrill to be able to say "I'm pregnant" ?

Maggie - I'm glad the nurse eased your worries. It also happened to me several times, I think it also has to do because the area is so bruised, because I remember it happened once I'd done like 5 shots so it could be do to that.

Congrats on your pregnancy
