I gotta ask....what is ICSI / AH? Does it have to do with egg quality? I am 38 so might be interested in this. Would love some feedback. Thanks!

Laura- 38 - unexplained second fertility??? urgh DH- 37- perfect DS- 4 yr  "conceived naturally"1-4 rounds of Clomid-  Ist IUI with Follistim -October '08  November 4th- saw empty sac....blighted ovum...waiting to MC November 15th- D&C  IVF- Feburary 2009 12/21- start BCP 12/30- saline sonogram- All Good 1/24- Started Stims- 150 Menopur & 200 Follistim 2/6- ER retrieved 7 eggs.......2 fertilized.....praying for those babies!! 2/9- ET transfered 2 6 cell- grade 4 (Poor quality...5 is the worst) 2/20- Beta- 1502/24- 2nd beta- 1200 !!!!!!!! Yea! 3/9- First Sono....One healthy bean.  EDD- October 29th. A pumpkin baby!

We had a Day 5 transfer and just did the ICSI. I think my clinic really only recommends assisted hatching for Day 3 transfers.
Oocyte Insemination is $400. That price goes up to $1,000 if you do ICSI. Assisted hatching is another $290. I don't really know what AH is. I know with ICSI they actually insert a sperm into the egg, as opposed to just setting the eggs in a bunch of sperm and hoping that they connect.

AH is often done on older women because the zona on our eggs tends to be a bit thicker than that of younger women.
