Crinone Gel Anyone?
Has anybody here used Crinone gel ? My new RE uses Crinone gel instead of the PIO. I am little skeptical about the gel as it needs to be inserted vaginally and I have heard that its messy.
I would love to hear from those who have used it before. Thanks

Me 31 - Endo, slight PCOS, Unexplained Infertility DH- Slight morphology issues. 05/2005 -Laproscopy TTC normally since then.  10/07- First RE Consult Insulin Resistance and High TSH 05/08- Metabolic Clearance from RE for IVF IVF # 2 WITH NEW RE  came, Start BCP's on 10/19.11/12- Start Lupron 11/24- Start Stims 12/01- Trigger Shot 11.00 P.M 12/03- ER 9.00 A.M- 16 Eggs Retrived 12/08- 2 blasts transferred and 3 frozen 12/18- The Miracle test Beta 561- OMG I am  12/22- Beta # 2 - 1729- I doubt its 2 in there. 12/29-Ist U/S They saw 2 Sacs-Its twins  01/06- 2nd U/S- 2 strong heart beats. Both 136 Baby A measuring at 7w and Baby B at 6w5d. 01/20- First OBGYN appt.. Both babies look perfect  IVF # 1 07/11- Start Lupron 07/31- B/W and U/S 08/01- Started Stims 08/11- ER 13 Eggs Retrieved. 8 mature and 5 fertilized. 08/14- ET Transferred 3 Embies. 08/28- Beta -

My Re also uses Crinone gel instead of the PIO. I have not tried it yet but remember reading a post quite a while ago about it and if I can remember correctly it was not only messy but has to be cleaned out every couple of days (sorry if TMI) although for me I think it is still better than the PIO.
I would love to hear from others who have used it how their experience went. Alex

I used Crinone gel on my first IVF and another gel (prochieve, but just like crinone) for 2nd IVF. I also heard it was messy but I really didn't think it was that bad. I wore a small pantyliner and I would rather have done the gel anyday than the nasty shots!! I already have to do Lovenox shots so one less shot was always welcome...lol. I personally thought it was fine. GOOD LUCK!!

I use Crinone gel. It's gross, but beats intramuscular butt shots any day!

IVF #1.5 in August/September '08--Antagonist protocol 9/26 3dt of 2 embryos 10/03, 10/04 HPT 10/05 HPT  10/07 Beta but low at 2910/09 Beta 65 10/11 Beta 224! 10/29 Ultrasound a beating heart! 12/4 Attempted CVS--it looks like a girl! 12/29 Amnio--results normal! Same here. I used it and didn't have to clean out but it would discharge on its own so I wore the panty liner too. Most of it would come out in the shower...not lovely but I preferred it to the PIO shots. Those terrify me!

I used Crinone, it is a little messy but i'd rather a little discharge then the shots anyday. i stopped using the Crinone about 2 weeks ago, and now the residue and discharge is all gone. Dh and i are like rabbits now without the mess!! LOL.

I used the crinone too and it was gross, but worth it. I did not enjoy giving myself shots in the tummy and had someone else do the trigger im shot. ANYTHING beats having to do that everyday. Progesterone levels were fine too, even only doing crinone once a day. Good luck!
