Good Luck to all of you. I am a patient there but not in the trial. I hope to keep up with all of you and share with you when I return (after short break) around April. This is terrific to connect with a few people going to New Hope in NYC in Manhattan. I am doing it from out of state also.

SO IM IN!!!! I got accepted..yay! My appointment was yesterday Mar 3rd. I had took a private taxi service (not the yellow cabs that charge by the running meter, the private taxi charges a flat rate of 40 dollars). I took the taxi because I was afraid of getting lost and being late for the appointment. When I got there it wasnt busy at all, only two girls in the waiting room, the receptionist called Matt who came out of his office, introduced himself, took me to give blood, and then brought me and my husband into his office to go over consent forms for us to sign and to answer any questions. Then the nurse gave me a vaginal ultrasound, and my husband gave a "sample", and he hated every min of that (he's shy lol). We than waited in the waiting room for 10 mins and Matt brought us back to his office again and went of the results, husband's sperm is normal, my FSH was a 9 (he said that would have been a good number but im only 23 and it should like 6 or under for my age), and I have 5 follicals on the left and 8 on the right. When he said that I was thinking OMG!!! ....because the requirements for the study in the email said 7 on each side, BUT, he then proceeded to say thats ok and if i agree he would llike us a clinical trial patient! the only other thing is he wants me back Mar 20th to start yaz and they do another test to see if I ovulated or not, which I do every month and I know because when I was trying to get preggo on my own I took ovulation tests, but if I dont ovualte then Matt said then I cant start birth control and I cant be in the study, I"m not worried about that though. Me and the hubby are so excited, and NY was fun, we went to times square today and walked around. anyways, like I said my next appointment is Mar 20th to start yaz. oh and also at that apointment I find out what IVF i'll be recieving! If anyone wants to ask me anything about my appointment or about NY i'll be happy to answer any questions for you if I can. and good luck to everyone!!

Awesome news!!! Congrats. I am really getting excited for my appointment now. Where did you get the private taxi service? Which airport did you fly into? I will be flying into Newark.

I go this Tuesday for all my bloodwork/pap updates. Hope this does not fill up before the end of March. Did Matt mention how long you would be on birth control before starting stims?

Well I flew into Laguardia and stayed at the Laguardia airport hotel because they offer free shuttle to and from the airport where you can then get on bus M60 that takes you right to the subway, and the subay drops you off 2 blocks from NH which is like a 2min walk. But im not sure of the taxi i used because the hotel actually called them for us and had them pick us up at the hotel. good luck with all the test and your first appointment!!!

oh and he said birth control would be taken for 10 to 14 days, and there would be another appointment like a week after I start the pills which would help them determine how long i'll be taking them, then from there i'm not sure whats next.

I was accepted onto Arm B (Coventional IVF) and am now on Visit 3. Did anyone else join in the trial?

Would you girls give me an idea of how much your FDA screening has been running you? Dh is still concerned with putting too much into it beforehand and I have no idea how much the prescreening will cost us.

Hi LAdies, I hope you all have great outcomes with this study. I had posted earlier, that I was not gonna continue with this study, because of the male factor. My DH has azoospermia, and therefore I would either have to arrange tese there or use donor sperm in order to participate in the study. Im going to continue working with Cornell and drS, and just pray for a miracle.

I am going to my doctor tomorrow. I kinda just assumed it would be covered by insurance (after deductible). I will let you know

It seems like others are going in for first appoinment without having everything complete. I think Matt said if you were accepted, you would have 20 days to get all info to them. Maybe you can go see if you would qualify first, then have the testing done?

Keep us posted. What is appointment 3? Have you started BC pills? Just curious.

I am already on stimulants. As far as I can tell, they use the Lupron Flare Protocol. To see what I mean, see here: Advanced Reproductive Care Center, IVF and Fertility Clinic in Irving, Texas serving Dallas and Fort Worth, Dr. Sy Q Le

So, I did 2 weeks of BC, then 3 days nothing, then 3 days microdose lupron, and then added menopur plus the lupron. So now I am on day 4 of stimulants (menopur). I went in 2 days after starting stims and they upped my dose of menopur.

And regarding the pre-FDA approval screening, my insurance covered everything. You really have to have all the paperwork done before starting. It's the same paperwork any RE would have you do, except the male paperwork also includes a blood test. It didn't cost us anything.

Just note that they will "highly recommend" you get a hysteroscopy before implantation. This is not something that everyone does, and I wanted to do a fresh cycle so I opted to do the procedure before starting lupron, which gave me a week to have surgery. I ended up paying out of pocket $1200 because they didn't take my insurance. However, I am glad I did it for several reasons. First, I got to do a "test run" of having myself under general anesthesia in their facility, which will be the same thing when I get the retrieval done. So I won't be as nervous the second time around. Second, it is a good diagnostic tool to see what's going on in your womb.

I also wanted to just mention that my insurance covered the testing as well. Just go to your regular gyn or RE to have them done. Take the list with you. I had showed the list to my RE at Cornell, and they just checked off all the tests Id need and sent me to have blood drawn.
