Our insurance does not cover anything other than the initial consult so we have spent the last 6 months paying off both of our vehicles so we can use that money to save half of the cost by July then can just pay difference with a no interest for one year period on our creditcard and pay it off in 6 months. Luckily for us we did find a local re who is less expensive than most so total will be somewhere between 10,600 and 11,600 I am thinking even with icsi depending on meds. Our initial consult is scheduled for 5/06/09 to meet our RE and start knocking off any tests we will have to do prior to July. I am extremely nervous about our first ivf because I see alot that it takes 1-3 cycles to work but at the cost I can only think about 1 right now and hope it works out well for us since I am under 35.

Hi April ! I feel for you ! trying to pay things off just to make more bills we are in the same poshion ! But we have just opened or store about a year ago and neather of us work excepted with our store but it pays the bills and I don't want for any thing that is except a baby !!!

Sorry Cathie I have been working like crazy and haven't been online. I promise will be able to watch more closely when we get up to starting. We have been doing well had our first housewarming party since closing on our house back in August and everyone had a great time. It is finally getting warmer here in Texas so my husband got out today and put the weed-n-feed on the yard and watered it all in good. Our yard is greening up real nice and we can't wait for our baby red oak to get some new leaves and bring color back to the front yard.

Yes we are going to see Dr. Le in Irving, Texas. I am not sure what meds I will be on yet, my consult is scheduled for May 6th. I know personally of two women who are both older than I am and were lucky enough to get pregnant their first cycle with him and he is also the most affordable in my area. We have to pay a urologist to do tese for my dh the same day as my retrieval so cost is definitely important but I also checked his stats on the cdc website and they were the best for my age in my area so I am hopeful it will work for us as well.

I haven't gone in yet but it I called and it looks like will be $6400 for global fee, cryo storage, and icsi plus meds which they said would be 2-3k and then we have to pay the urologist 1800 so all together somewhere between 10,200 & 11,600. What did your clinic say?

that is some $$$$ Mine is around $6300 for meds and all and I cecked the cdc and my re is up there with sirm which is one of the best ! I have to trave about 3 hours one way but he will work with my obgyn. so maybe about 3 to 4 short trips if that. No insurance but I am going to Arizona any ways so it is out of state.. I have this one woman from this forum from CA that ask me info about my re and she is now going to see him she said that even with the travel she is saving $$$$.

Well I hope every one had a great monday see you all tomorrow !

Yay, a July IVF thread!! (good thing I was looking way back in the IVF boards). Just this week we decided to book our IVF for July. I'm anxious to do it (and freaked out) but we had to take some time to save some money first. Insurance covers half of the meds but that's it so we're trying to scrimp and save like crazy. So far we're doing better than I thought. It's amazing how much you can save when there's a clear goal in sight. I guess this time is also good to take a little break from treatment and get geared up for the big guns. Like some of you have said, actually setting a tentative date makes it all the more real. We have a consult in 2 weeks with the IVF nurse who will be assigned to us and go over everything. I'm looking forward to that to go over the details and to ask the million questions I have. Hopefully this time goes quickly.
Oh, about me....I'm 29, live in Michigan, and am a social worker. I have 2 furbabies, 2 pugs named Willie and Mabel whom I love dearly. I'm extremely excited that it's spring now which means this long bitter winter is almost over. I'm also stoked that it's almost summer which means camping, fishing, and being outside. Woo hoo! I have a feeling it's going to be quite the summer. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Welcome Mabelina that is exciting. I go on the 27th for my consult with the RE. My husband and I just got back Sunday from a road trip to North Carolina to see his family. It was so beautiful there I cannot wait for warmer weather so we can be out in the yard grilling dinner and tending everything. Are any of you guys trying to lose weight before your ivf? I am not way over weight now but I used to weigh 268 and had type 2 diabetes. I am now about 155 and have not had any sign of the diabetes in my blood tests but my obgyn recommended I try to get to 140 before we start the cycle so I would be less likely to develop gestational diabetes.

Hi Ladies!

I am relatively new to the site but not new to ttc. I have been lurking for a thread trying to figure out where I fit in. I will be starting my first round of IVF in July of 2009 in Atlanta and I can't wait! I am super excited. DH and I have been on this road for well over 2 years with no 's yet but we are praying that will change soon. Just wanted to say Hey and I hope you guys don't mind me joining in!!!

Hi All

Hi to all! After a cycle that was cancelled before I even started stims in January I decided I wasn't quite ready to go through with IVF. But I am back on the bandwagon and we are targeting July 2009 with a new RE. I am glad to see there is already a thread and look forward to getting to know all of you.

Mabelina I am in MI too! I have an appointment on May 4th in Grand Rapids to see if I will cycle there or back at the U where I started in January. The cost is less and the stats are slightly better in Grand Rapids so I want to check it out even if the drive from Brighton would be a pain! If you don't mind me asking, where are you cycling?
