Hey ladies. I'm brand new to this forum but I'd love to join you. My DH and I are hoping to do our second IVF/ICSI cycle in July. We'll know for sure if the RE can get us in after our consult on the 18th. We have no insurance coverage like most of you which is kind of why it will have taken us nearly 3 years to get to our second cycle. I'm not letting things drag on after this cycle though, if it doesn't work we'll probably look into other options and find our path to parenthood before another 3 years go by!

Look forward to getting to know you all better during this journey.

to the party JeepGirl!!!

So I went for my HSG today. My husband and my doctor told me to stay off of the internet because I would psych myself out, and sure enough I did. I was taking every type of pain medication I could get my hands on because I had read so many horror stories. So I don't know if it was the drugs or what but my menstrual cramps were worse than the procedure and they even let me keep the socks that they gave me with the rubber on the bottom to keep from sliding all over the place. I watched the whole thing and everything looked pretty normal to me but then again I am just an Internet MD. I had my bloodwork drawn on Sunday and Monday and so far, so good. I am just waiting on a call from the RE now to schedule the next step in this whole process.

It is so funny though because my older sister called to check on me after the procedure because she knows how much of a weirdo I am and she says to me, "You know maybe if you and your hubby just did the 'DO' you would have a baby instead of having to go through all of this." This coming from a woman with 3 kids and no problems conceiving to speak of. It is just amazing how some people will never fully understand what we go through and how emotionally, physically, financially, and mentally taxing this whole process is. Even those that are closest to us really have no clue. It is sad but true...

Alli~ Yay to your HSG being over with. I'm glad it went well. And good job scoring some new socks! Atleast you got something out of the deal. I absolutely hated my hsg and I hope I don't have to repeat it, but it was 3 years ago so I probably will. Maybe I'll take something stronger ahead of time to help with the pain. I think the RE said I have a twisted cervix or something so anything being inserted into it hurts like heck.

Oh jeez, silly sisters. My older sis also has 3 kids and a couple years into our struggles she invited me along to the u/s where they found out the sex of their baby. Of course I went. They were disappointed in the sex and she actually cried after the appointment in front of me. I was thinking "Are you serious right now! Did you forget I'd give my right arm to have any healthy baby and your standing here crying about it not being the right sex!" Unbelievable how people just don't get it. She's really supportive but I just dont think people not going thru this can even begin to grasp it.

Anyways...hope everyone has a great Friday!

Hi All

Hi to all!! Is is July yet:-) Alli I am glad to hear your HSG is over with. No fun!!! I am happy because I went to my new RE last week and he is not going to make me repeat a bunch of tests I just had a few months ago. I hate being poked and prodded and I once passed out at GYN office after a pap!! Yeah I'm a wimp!!

Who has their estimated calendars already? I will be doing the long lupron protocol and since AF is pretty reliable I should be starting the Lupron around June 14th. If all goes well I will be looking at around the 25th to start stims and July 6th or so for ER.

I will be doing the long lupron protocol as well. If AF comes as planned I should be starting Lupron early June and ER late June/early July. I'm hoping we'll be able to work around July 4th weekend (we'd like to spend the weekend with fam at the cottage) but of course we're willing to do whatever we have to do. I'm trying to tie up some loose ends-getting insurance figured out (what little it will help), thinking about ordering meds, and planning for testing and whatnot. Once AF starts this time then we start the counting. I'm eager to start but nervous too. It will be an interesting summer to say the least.
What's everyone else up to? I'm sure this thread will start to get busier in the next month or so

Oh yeah that's rightI'm happy with them too. Have you been seeing them for a while? I've been seeing them since last October and I've been very happy with them...although I had a bad experience with the first RE (somewhere else) so they've really been great. I have to go in for testing starting my next cycle (around May 18ish). I don't have my meds yet but I will be on the Gonal-f and Repronex (Menopur isn't covered by my insurance).

My first appointment was last Monday and I was so happy with the office that I put my deposit down on the spot and had my mock on Wed and met with the nurse to sign consents etc. When I started a cycle in December the Lupron didn't supress me and I have been nervous to start another cycle because I don't want it to happen again but I feel so much better after talking to Dr. Young about it! Hopefully we can both add to their great stats!

Wow, sounds like a productive visit. You live out of town, right? So you would want to get everything in at once. I will probably go in for my mock next week and move on from there. I hope we can add to their great stats too.

Hi Ladies!

I'd love to join you. My DH and I live in Northwest Arkansas (home of WalMart) and will be cycling (with any luck) at the end of July. It will be our first go at IVF and we are very excited!

I have started on the Nuva Ring and am waiting for to visit late next week so I can schedule my HSG. 2 questions for you all:

1) Looks like my Day 10 is going to fall on a weekend. I can have an HSG on the weekend only if I sit in the ER all day and wait until they have time for me (it's not a full moon so I might be okay) or if my Day 10 were to fall on a weekday, I could schedule it (so much more convenient). I'm considering leaving the Nuva Ring in for an extra day and a half so that my Day 10 falls on a Monday...What do you think? I just can't imagine sitting in the ER waiting all day for the dreaded test, not knowing when to take pain meds, etc.

2) What pain meds did you take? How bad was the test? I know it's not supposed to be pleasant at all!

Thanks Ladies!

MPisready!! I am not sure about the Nuvaring business. I have absolutely no experience with that, however, I do have first hand knowledge of the HSG and how (now) to conduct myself. First, stay off of the HSG boards that say that this pain is similar to natural childbirth or that you are a cramp away from dying. About an hour before I went I took a Tramadol (I take these for muscle spasms in my back) and 4 Advil. I am pretty sure it was the drugs that had me feeling like Superwoman but there was no cause for alarm. It is a lot like a pap smear. A LOT! And that is just discomfort and slight cramping. So, don't get all worked up about it. I had actually went to the Redbox and rented some DVD's, I had my bed all nice and comfy and my curtains drawn before I left because I just new that I was going to be bedridden for the rest of the day...PUH-LEASE!!! I was up cleaning and cooking and even took my niece to the park. My menstrual cramps were much much worse than that HSG.

You will be just fine!

Welcome Maria~ Good luck with your HSG. I personally hated mine. Of course I was new to the poking and proding then, I'm more used to it now. I took ibuprofin ahead of time but my doc (not RE) forgot about the appointment so the hospital had to call her at home and have her come down. Needless to say any help the drugs may have provided wore off by then!

I'm jealous of you girls with your calendars. I hope I get mine next Monday at my appt.

AlliJ~ Yep, we share the exact same anniversary Too funny. Had to do a double take of your ticker. The years, months, weeks, and days looked a little familiar.
