HI ladies. Went to see the RE yesterday. I am supposed to start the BCP on Wednesday. This is my first IVF. I will be doing Follistim (150) and Lupron (10iu) and an HCG injection. It looks like my ER will be around 6/18 and ET on 6/20 or 21. I am doing a lower dose because when I did IUI cycles, I used 75 IU's and got 10 follies on average each cycle. I hope that it works out because this is freakin' expensive!! I am so nervous that I could end up with OHSS and be hospitalized. I know that I shouldn't be, but I can't help it.

Hi Ladies,
I just wanted to share this information and maybe it will help someone like it helped me. Baby4gerbee was expressing how expensive IVF is...soooo true. Many of us pay out of pocket. A online friend told me to ask for donated drugs. I felt odd asking my IVF manager but i thought what the heck. She ended up saving me a lot of $$$$$. Also ask your Coordinator about paying cash. Sometimes they will give you a percent off for doing so...If you can afford it! Hope this helps!!

Borderline

to all the new ladies!! Here's to a bunch of this time around!!

So we met with our RE today for our follow-up after last months failed IVF cycle. I was a bit nervous about finding out bad news, but it all went well.

He said there is no specific reason why it didn't work, but that I was a right on the borderline for being a slow responder to the stims. This time he has me on BCP and no Lupron and he added Ganirelix.

We left feeling great about our chances, so it was a pretty good day!

We'll see how everything looks on the 17th and then hopefully start the stims soon after!

Happy Friday, Ladies and to all of the new people

Had my first acupuncture appointment today... I guess it went well; it's hard to tell. But, it wasn't too uncomfortable or invasive, which was a nice change from all of the testing we've had done with our RE.

Lupron arrives today (for a Tuesday start date). I am so excited to actually have the drugs as some sort of testimony to the fact that we are moving forward in our hopes to be !!!

On a sad note, our that we lost in the fall would have been due today. We our missing our baby, but thankful for the new beginnings to come.

for for everyone!!

Enjoy!

I wanted to quickly send a Happy Mother's Day wish to all of those who have been blessed with little ones and also tell those of you (including me) that haven't been as successful that I consider this Mother's Day a day for us too. Anyone that tries this hard to build a family deserves lots of and love as well! So I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and that you can relax and dream of the little baby that you'll hold in your arms very soon!

AFM - To be honest, at first I was dreading this weekend...of course celebrating with my own mother is always nice but it also seemed to remind me that I wasn't one yet. But then I had the thought that I mentioned above and I'm considering myself a member of the Mother's Day club now. It definitely makes me feel better.

From an IVF perspective - No news....still waiting on AF. I have my first acupuncture appointment next Tuesday so I'm looking forward to that and hopefully getting my protocol sometime next week. I'm so ready to get this party started!

Thebunn - I'm glad to hear that your acupuncture appt went well. That makes it easier to go in on Tuesday! I'm terribly sorry to hear what today represents for you. You are very strong and are balancing the sadness with great optimism about what's to come. Keep it up and good luck with the drugs!

Stay positive everyone! Our turn is very close!

Bunn,

I understand how you feel, I was preggers in September as well and lost it. I have a friend who found out she was pregnant around the same time I did (she remained pregnant) and she is about to give birth any day. I'm happy for her, but breaks my heart...

Hugs,
B.

Tabby I know some ladies start taking there BCP and skip Lupron but why I do not know I think its cuz of some women who over stimulate with Lupron.

my AF is suppose to be here on Sunay and im not having any symtoms thats it will be here on Sunay .. im normally never late and i usually have cramps and tender breast. I have been moody this week and my poor DH has had to pay for it.... I hope being stressed does not delay her.....

HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS & SOON TO BE MOTHERS (US)....

My RE changed our protocol and eliminated Lupron because it over-suppresses some women. Which means if you are a slow responder, like me, it helps because you might make more eggs without Lupron.

One is an agonist protocol and the other is an antagonist protocol. You can google it for more info. I get myself confused trying to explain it...it is all so complicated.

Hey baby4,

Don't worry about OHSS. based on your protocol, I don't think you are in any danger of over stimulation. My first cycle, I was on 375 Follistim and my ovaries cranked out 63 eggs! I did have moderate OHSS but it wasn't severe enough for hospitalization.

Hi Tabby,

If you had a cold ,d went to the drug store, think of all the choices you would have in a cold medicine - someth for fever, something else for aches and stuffiness and something else for cough. There are lots of approaches an RE can take to stims. What they choose generally depends on a combination of age, how your follies produce without stims, what yur specific issue is and their own personal experience. While the science is amazing, it isn't exact. Therefore, the first round of IVF tends to be diagnostic (if you haved done any other injectables/IUI, etc). While some very lucky ladies will get pregnant on the first try, there will be a fair number that won't because the protocol they were on wasn't right for their body. The RE can then make adjustments for the next time. (In some cases, the cycle is perfect but implantation does not occur, in that case, the protocol could remain the same). You should absolutely not worry about your protocol but feel free to ask your RE why he chose the one he did. I find it very helpful (and calming) to have everything explained to me.

I hope all our first time IVFers get lucky with this round and our repeat players find success!!

Bunn, my heart goes out to you. My due date was June 27th and I think about it all the time. If I am preggers by then (please, please G-d), it will be okay. If not, I can only imagine how sad it wil be. I hope this cycle is it and you get that baby soon.

AFM, AF should be here by midweek. I feel very ready to start again and so hopeful that this is our final round. I really think that DH won't want us to do more than 3 attempts before giving up so I am absoutely feeling the pressure of the sand running out of the hourglass but I'm trying not to think about it.

Thanks JustOneMore I needed to hear that. I think I am just honing in on one thing and obsessing about it. I am pretty worried about the whole process.

I know it's easy to say, don't worry about the process, but harder to do it. I have to say that I was soooo nervous when we did our first IVF, but once I started it -- I was surprised at how easy it really is. I honestly would do all the injectables and retrieval and transfer before I would EVER do clomid again...and that's just a little pill. It just made me nuts. The whole IVF process was so much easier than I expected.

The best advice that someone gave me is to put all your medication out of sight and only take out what you need for each day. That helped me to not be overwhelmed and to just take it one day at a time.

It will all be worth it!
