Thanks, Caty. There doesn't appear to be many people who have taken this drug so lets hope there are no major side effects. Even though this sucks right now, I know you are right... this is what is best in the long run.

I would suggest waiting for Aug or even sept for your body to get back to normal....I know thats not what you want to hear but it will be worth it in the long wrong.. the best of luck.

It's a pain that you have to wait till Monday to find out, but it's interesting that they think there's a change that the pregnancy is still viable. I hope that they are right, but if not, I know that you are strong enough to get through this and move on. Keep the faith: if it's not meant to be this time, then it will be the next!

Wannabe - congrats on the !! I know you're worried because your numbers were low, but I did A LOT of research on this in the last week, after mine came in at a lowly 5, and all the experts say that as long as it doubles every 48-72 hours, it doesn't really matter what the first number is. Every person is different, and every pregnancy is different, and nobody knows why one person's is 22 and the next's is 220...

Stay positive!

My update

We spoke to our Dr. this morning and have decided to try a 4th round. However, because of the chemical pregnancy, I have to wait at least a month before I even start the BCPs. So it looks like I'll be in the September or October group...

In the meantime, DH & I will be moving forward with adoption. Maybe we'll end up with twins (only one will be adopted!)

Update on me - moved up my 2nd BETA

Hey there -

So its been a rough night but today things are ok, as I am back at work and busy and somewhat distracted.

Last night I left a message on the IVF Nurse Line...and they called me back early this morning.

I told her my concerns and wanted a better understanding of why they want me to wait 4 days for the 2nd beta.

She said that bc the number is low -they don't really expect a huge increase right away - and by Monday - we would have a better idea of what is what and it would give my body more time to do what it needs to do.

BUT, if for peace of mind, I wanted to come in tomorrow- then I could. So I go back tomorrow at 7:15am.

I was crying - been doing that a lot. Am trying so hard to relish the fact that my test was a and that I am - but its just so hard bc this is the 2nd time I am being told that - Congrats you are pregnant - BUT......

She did tell me that she has seen numbers as low as mine turn into healthly viable pregnancies but that its not the norm. So again - being "cautiously optimistic" is the advice of the day.

So tomorrow, I guess if the number goes up - I will feel good - and if the number goes down - then at least I have the weekend to deal - and not have to be at work on Monday dealing with it.

I had that one bout of spotting brown on the TP last night, and this morning there was some light brown on my panty-liner. that its old blood from implantation. But before the witch shows her face, I always get the brown.
I am still cramping off and on - so hopefully these are all good signs.

Thanks again for all your support !!

Hi wannabe

I'm so sorry you're going through this torture. Keep believing that you are not "the norm" and that your little fighter will keep your numbers moving up! Maybe he/she just traveled around for a while before settling in... And now he/she is here to stay! Sending and

wannabeamomma, I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I'm glad that you called the RE and that they are letting you come in early. It is important that you try to keep your sanity at times like this. i will be praying for you.

Thanks for the well wishes Maren. I am happy as can be. Still a little nervous and I have to wait until next Friday to hear or see anything. Still, we are ecstatic.

And of course, I know exactly what you are going through. Listen, hang in there.. .Im glad you went and pushed for an earlier beta... cause I know how anxious it is to wait DAYS for a result.

Forget about the "norm"... averages are just averages. For every woman who has a super fast doubling rate, is another woman with an extra slow beta rate... and neither is a guarantee of a successful pregnancy. Even on these boards u see wonderful beta numbers, and then there's a m/c; and other times, women struggling from one beta to the next.. and they have a healthy baby.

Im sorry you are having to go thru this. Dont worry about crying... I have found it to be very cathartic and cleansing. Plus the hormones inside you are prob. driving u nuts too. Hang in there... try and be positive, but also know that this journey is serving to provide you with inner strength, and ultimately with qualities (such as patience, resilience, and positivity)that will make you a GREAT MOM!!

hugs,
Anj
