Emergency Surgery!!

Alright ladies... a quick update!

Yesterday I went back to RE for beta to check levels after been given the Methotrexate last Thursday. Instead of my levels dropping they increased. I had been in significant pain on Wednesday so they did a u/s which showed a mass and fluid build up. Once the b/w came back I went back to the office to have an exam by my RE. Due to pain, new mass present of u/s, and level increase I was sent straight in for an emergency lap to remove ectopic and a d & c. They were unable to stop the bleeding so I had to have my left tube removed . I got home late last night and am recovering well thanks to vicadin (excuse spelling). Anyway, thought you guys would like to know the latest... I am sure am having fun here! Please I heal well and that there no future complications.

KelB- I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that. I'm glad to see you're on the mend though. Hopefully you can get some good rest this weekend. Sending you lots of hugs and get well wishes!!

Anj- I've done 4 ivf cycles. The thing that changed with them is that first, I changed dr's, and second my dr figured out a protocol that worked for me. I had the best results with the new protocol (more eggs that were more mature and even had blasts to transfer which I never got before). It's such an inexact science that small tweaks here and there really can make a difference. Wishin you lots of luck with your next cycle!

Erin- Sounds like things are going great with the adoption process! So exciting!

Indie- It sounds like a tough decision, but go with your gut. Mine always tends to lead me in the right direction. Good luck!!

Wishing all the ladies with upcoming cycles lots and lots of luck!!

You are all such an incredible group of women and so very supportive. You all deserve great things! And for those that haven't seen that yet I know great things are coming for you! Patience really is a virtue, isn't it?

KelB, gosh...what a whirlwind of pain you've been through. I'm so sorry.

I started bleeding about 3 days after I stopped Progesterone, and it was really heavy for that one day and then went to spotting, then back to bleeding, then spotting....I finally thought I'd stopped yesterday but sadly am back to spotting this morning...ugghhh. This stinks.

I was moving on though, you can't change anything and me dwelling on it wasn't helping anyone. I finally got around to taking some more stuff back that we'd bought for the baby and my poor husband said when I told him that I took back S's stuff it crushed his heart. He said I'm always the one to figure out how to make these things work out....so taking stuff back kind of made him feel like I was giving up. Ohhhhh, that just made me sad again.

As much as the surgery scares me I think I'm going to have it....I am going to schedule my follow up with my RE first in a week or so and see if she has any idea on why my babies aren't sticking around, but I don't think she'll really have an idea of why....I'm unexplained at this point I suppose.

So unless we get another GREAT deal on another IVF, we're going with the tubal surgery.....so maybe I'll come back and post next year if we get that miracle BFP

Update

hello ladies... just wanted to update you all. I didnt get after I stopped my meds... and since Im travelling out of the country next week, the doc gave me this med (Cytotec)... which basically induces uterine contractions.

Took it yesterday, and almost immediately started bleeding heavily ... sorta feeling relieved, like my body is re-setting now. I was told that I didnt need a D&C (cause it was an early m/c) so hoping everything comes out well... and no complications.

Heading off on vacation for 2 weeks, looking forward to it. Also starting adoption procedures ... as it takes time anyway. We had a good talk with the RE... next cycle (we will do another sometime in sept/oct) will be the antagonist protocol (Courtney, thanks for your words on changing protocol makng a difference for you).

Also pushed RE to do ICSI on all eggs; and possible PGD if I have > 5 embyros. Im keen on PGD... cause we seem to be stumbling only on account of possible chromosomol issues (just egg quality).. .and I rather they know beforehand than go through the transfer, wait it out, and then it fail ! RE thinks PGD sometimes threatens the mebyro... and so will do if only I have adequate number. And so we compromise...

In the meanwhile, have been imbibing lots of alcohol... just as a retaliation !! Plan to get my body back into some semblance of shape... so we'll see what works out. Whatever happens... I plan to be a mom by nex tyear this time ... by having a biological or adopted child. Just spoke to a cousin who adopted (after 3 failed IVFs... all BFN)... and then she got pregnant naturally 2 years later !! I will continue to hope that the right baby comes into my life soon....

wishing you all the very best on your journeys towards motherhood... and courage to face all the struggles tha twill invariably come at some point or another. And hope to catch some of you on a future board

Hi ladies

Mary Lee - I'm so glad you wrote in to give us an update. I was feeling so terrible after reading what had happened, and I wanted to make sure you're OK. You've been through a lot, but you seem to be rallying again, and are ready for a new cycle. Good for you! Depending on timing, I may see you on the October board too.

megz - I'm so happy for your success and that everything is progressing perfectly!

KelB - I can't believe you've had to go through all this! I am thinking about you and hoping that you're past the worst, that you'll heal quickly, and that everything going forward will be perfect!

Courtney - I'd love to hear exactly what your protocol was this time. I know everyone reacts differently, but I'm curious to know how it differed from mine.

Indie - good luck with the surgery and the possibility of a natural conception. I know you'll pull through this sad time.

anj - we've also decided to do PGD. Find out if your RE does CGH. This is the latest in PGD, and allows them to check all 23 pairs of chromosomes for abnormalities, and is apparently much more accurate than FISH, which is the traditional method. Good luck and stay in touch!

Good luck everyone! & kisses!

Leora
