AFM, I had my ET today... we only fertilized 3 eggs on Friday and we had 3 embryos today (3dt)!! We had a:
- Grade A 6-cell
- Grade A 8-cell
- 16 cell morula (which I guess is the stage right before the blast... this can be a good or a bad thing. The embryo could just be strong or there could be something wrong with it)

We transferred all of them. With my age, we have a 10% chance of seeing triplets on the first sonogram. If this happens, there's a 50% chance we'll actually deliver triplets in the end. We're nervous... but also excited that 3/3 embryos developed well.

So, I guess I'm officially PUPO and in the 2ww. Come on embies- stick!!!!!
so excited for you!!! 3 transferred!!!!!! Can't wait for your beta!!!!

Hi Everyone

It is so great to read here about everyone moving forward! It really makes me excited.

Erin - thanks for the kind lotto thoughts! I am so excited for this opportunity and mostly I just feel blessed to have a friend who is willing to be a GC for me and I mostly just feel extremely grateful, but sometimes the cost thing is just so overwhelming, especially when I have to fork out the $. LOL

Heather - how goes things with your GC? Any advice for me?

IglooChic - you are right, I am so lucky to have a friend who is willing to be my GC. And without her, none of this would even be possible. I am sorry to hear that your friends have abandoned you. That's just terrible. I know people don't know how to deal with sickness or illness in our culture. I know to many people with cancer who's friends stop coming around because they don't want to "bother" them, when what they really need and want is some company.

MaggsFinn - good luck on your ER!!!

Amy - congrats on your ER!!!!

MLM - your BIL's comment is sooo insensitive!

Bridget - congrats on the 7 embies!!!

Brooklyn - my trigger shot is also sub-Q. And at my clinic ER is considered day 0.

Baby4Gerbee and April - I am doing 2 shots (3 different meds) 2 times a day, each shot 12 hours apart. So I will be doing 10 of lupron morning and night, and 225 of Follistim and 75 of Menopur mixed together in one shot also morning and night when I start my stims. This means 4 shots a day, which is freaking me out a bit. I am a diabetic, so I already have an insulin pump infusion set I wear for 3 days at a time, and a continuous glucose monitor sensor that I wear for 7 days at a time, so I am getting worried about having enough real estate for all of this!

QUESTION for everyone - my Dr. has me starting on the Lupron twice a day on 6/8 and then I add the stims twice a day on 6/10, but they aren't scheduling me for any blood work or ultrasounds until day 9 (6/18). I have never used these meds before and have no idea how I will react. They have told me that they are putting me on REALLY high dose of meds, just because I am 39 and I only showed 6 follies in my ultrasound. Is is normal to just have me take the meds and not check how I am doing for 9 days???????

ALSO - they are just having me start the meds on a schedule, no checking of my E2 or anything. Is this normal?????

Today was my last day of BCP!!! Yeehaw!

-Honey

Honey, I am by no means a IVF Vet or expert but 9 days of stims with no monitoring seems crazy. I was on fairly low doses and had an ultrasound and bloodwork (for E2) on day 3, 5, 6, and 9. on days 3 and 5 they increased my dosages because I was under responding and I only stimmed for 9 days total. But It seems that everybodies RE does things a little different so I don't know?

Carla, My RE shoots for a 3 day transfer but if they have to let it cook and extra day they will.

Bridget, Your our ER and Fertilization went awesome. I hope I have some surprises!

Brooklyn, Here’s my follie growth chart:
Baseline: 10 Anterial Follies
After 3 Days of stims: 4 follies, not measureable; Increased Follistim 150-200
After 5 Days: 4 on one side measuring 8-10, 2 unmeasurable; Increased Menopur 75-150
After 6 Days: 4 Measuring 11-14; 3 measuring 6-7
After 9 Days: 6-7 measuring 17-20; 1 a little smaller (14 I think), Dr does not expect it will be mature egg. With 10 Anterial Follies he didn’t expect me to have a lot of follicles. We are doing ICSI so I’m really hoping that gives us a good shot of all of them fertilizing. I was really bummed with such a small number but I’ve been trying to look at is from a quality vs. quantity standpoint. My trigger is an IM I wish it was a SubQ in the belly, seems like a piece of cake at this point! I think that the day after is when you start counting; My ER is Wed so Sat will be 3 day transfer, Mon 5 day transfer. I’m hope they can do it Sat. so I don’t have to take off from work.

Amy, Wow 3 embies transferred!

My Dr’s office gives fertilization reports the day after retrieval. Is this standard or do any of your Doc’s give it same day?

Amy, that's fantastic! My doc won't do 3. He prefers one, 2 at the most ("quality over quantity", he says). Best of luck to you! I hope you have a !!

Side note, my nurse just called and said my E2 almost doubled overnight (1065+) and we should trigger either tomorrow or Wednesday depending on what my bloodwork/ultrasound reveal tomorrow morning. It's a good thing, because I'm running out of places for them to stick me! Anyone else bruising horribly where they draw blood? Stupid aspirin!

Ummm, I was just putting together a timeline of our Cycle and I noticed that we started testing last June (It took awhile to convince DH that maybe somethings not right). Anyway I started testing with my OBGYN right after my annual exam and I just realized its just about year later and I haven't been back to my GYN for a pap . I guess I'll just wait and see how this cycle goes, it's not like i'll be able to get an appointment for a month or so anyway? Has everyone else been seeing there Gyn throughout all this? I guess going to the RE's office so much over the past few months I forgot all about the GYN!!! Is it a big deal if I don't get a pap before I get ? I 've never had a abnormal pap. and I'm thinking that the RE's had a ton of BW, and dildo cam shots, if something came up on a pap (cyst infection, etc.) wouldn't they see something on the US?

Rachel- I'm so glad you are feeling much better this time around. Good luck with ER.

Amy- yay for your 3 embies-don't want to freak you out but have you seen Elsmile (from the may group) post. She had her U/S today and there are 3 babies

bridge2baby- 7 fertilized...That's great!!!!!

Brooklyn- day 1 is one day after transfer. So if you had ER on monday day 3 transfer would be thursday and day 5 would be saturday.

Lauren- my last cycle I had 20 eggs retrieved, 13 fertilized and only 2 survived to day 3 transfer. We got a BFP but at U/S saw sac but no baby. My E2 was 5300 at trigger so I over stimmed. So more eggs is not always better ,quality over quantity.

Honey- I have never heard of them not checking E2 levels. I would demand thay check your E2 levels at least a few times. Most stim cycles only last 10 days and since this is your 1st time how can they predict how you will respond. You are paying to much money for this to be that much of a crap shoot...not to mention your health.

AFM,
Went in for u/s and b/w today. E2# 334 for day 4 so I will remain on the same dose for now and then go back again wednesday for another check. my fingers E2 levels stay normal this go around.

Good Luck for all the ER and ET this week.

Sweetprincess - I too, am laughing at your dildocam comment - good stuff -

But to seriously answer your question - No, what they check in a PAP is not something that can be readily seen on an US. PAP's scrape the microscopic cells of your cervix to see if the cells have changed from normal to pre-cancerous, or GOD forbid...cancer. If something showed on an US, I am guessing things would be much more advanced and serious. Regardless, to me, its very very important to get your yearly PAP.

I say this after all my paps being normal every year.....last year, right after we did our IF work-up - and I had my required PAP - it came back abnormal. I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia (pre-cancerous cells) after a cone biopsy and underwent cryosurgery to kill those nasty buggers. I since, go for a pap every 3 months to be sure that all is still ok - and THANK GOD, they have all been normal since the cryosurgery.

So, I do not want to scary you in any way, shape or form, but I would say its best to know that your cervix is healthy prior to undergoing the physically, emotionally and financially stressful process of IVF. The upside is that PAP's can be performed when you are PG - but I would say its best to get one done before. I see your ER is in a few days - so I would say just see how this cycle turns out and go from there.

Hope this helped and again - I did not mean to scare you - but after all I went thru - if I can stop any other woman from going thru it - I would. Am a big proponent of the yearly pap !! It all but saved my life !!

Good Luck !!

Thanks-I'm doing pretty well on the Lupron but when I start the others I think I'll tell my DH to postpone any party hosting. It is tough to be socially engaging when really our lives are focused around shots and getting pregnant. Not great cocktail party conversation

I went for my day 3 of stimming bw today, & my e2 was only 258. Last cycle it was 319. I just don't understand how I am not responding with my dose so high. They are keeping me on the same dose because they don't want me to over stim. I have to go in again tomorrow for bw again and a scan. This kinda worries me because everyother time it was every two days. So I am praying that they don't cancel me already. I have been postponed and canceled to many times.

I am glad to see everyone moving on it is so wonderful reading all of your reports.

Really??? Novarel in the belly??? My needle is so long and they told me that it has to be intramuscular. I never heard about it in the belly?? I would love to be able to do that. Maybe I should ask the RE. He also hates Ovidrel because it is synthetic and does not think it works as well...who knows. I am SO asking about the shot
