June 2009 Ivf
Ladies, I see a MAY and a JULY, but no JUNE. Maybe I missed it, but I'm going to start it because I am now solidly in June. My protocol and schedule is in my Signature. Why doesn't everyone start out stating their protocol and signature.
WELCOME EVERYONE

Hi Tap!
lol-I started the July thread-but I've been bumped up to June, so I'll post here. I'm a newbie at this-I don't know protocols, etc. All I know is that I start BCP in either April or May, and start my injections in June for a late June retrieval. We're also doing ICSI. Anyone else? Its not that far away...

I'm a teacher, so we're holding off until I'm out for summer. I start suppression next month, stim in May/June, and transfer late June.
This is our first IVF. Hopefully, it's our only one. Good luck to you ladies as well!

Well I got a call back today from the RE to set up our first appt. with them. It is April 20th. The nurse said that after the consulation we should be set to start again. So it looks like we are on for June if all goes well.

We are set up for our social work consult in April (mandatory in Canada). Aside from some measurements, that's all I have booked so far.
Did anyone else have mandatory counselling?

No, we haven't had to do kind of counseling. What exactly is it for? Have you even seen your RE yet or do you have to do the counseling first?

We've been seeing our RE since 2005-only now have we decided to persue IF treatment. Apparently, the counselling is mandatory in Canada. Its for coping with IVF stress on you, and you and partner as a couple. In a way, its kinda cool.
We have to do the counselling before we can even sign consent to do IVF!

Hi ladies,
I hope to be doing ER/ET in June as well. If we do, it will be done with the short protocal (I think). I will take BCP's, Puregon & Orgalutran. I have done 1 cycle of IVF before and we were very fortunate to conceived our DD from that cycle. . Trying - I live in Canada too. It was not mandatory for DH & I to do counselling for my first cycle or the next one. Are you sure it is mandatory in Canada or is that just your clinic's policy? Do you live in Ontario? Maybe it is just a province to province decision. Are they making you pay for the session? If they are, and they told you it was mandatory it kinda sounds suspicious. If you don't have to pay anything then that's great and a helpful added service. We had to go in for an initial consultation and an RE explained IVF to us but we never had to meet a professional counsellor. Sorry for all the questions, it just really bothers me that someone might be taking advantage of the situation. Hi to everyone else.

We haven't had to do any counseling either, but I've heard of couples being required to undergo some type of counseling before starting IVF.
I think it's a great idea to have some counseling. I've been trying to get my DH to go to some sessions with me, but he's not too enthused. When are you ladies starting your suppression cycle? I should be starting in about 1-2 weeks.

hoping-We do not have to pay for our session. Even if we did, mandatory or not, I'd still do it; I think its a fabulous idea. Our nurse told us that it was mandatory in Canada-I'm only reporting what she told us. We don't live in Ontario. Our clinic is the only one around for many, many miles, and therefore has limited competition. I see that you live in Ontario; perhaps reserving counselling for as a clinician sees fit is their way of staying competitive in the industry and in the area.
Welcome to you. The picture of your daughter is beautiful. I hope we will be as fortuante as you were the first time. Good luck to you this time around. ![]() I'll report back with how it went and if it was worthwhile when we go on April 17. ginalfish-I won't likely start my supression until late April. I'm due for AF next week-likely too early to start then, as much as I'd like to! I'm going to call the clinic and check, just in case. Otherwise, not until 3rd week of April. Has anyone met other couples in the same cycle as you at your clinic?

ginalfish - I think I will be starting the BCP's mid May. I will be doing the short protocal so I will only take BCP's for 2-3 weeks and then start stimms right away. At first it seemed so far away but everything is quickly approaching. I can't wait. You must be excited, it really is soon for you!
trying4 - I am so glad to hear that they aren't taking advantage! I have been hearing about too many horror stories lately. One of the girls that I cycled with when I did my first round was at a horrible clinic and they really took advantage of her. It breaks my heart that some places treat us as $ and not people. I think that the couselling is a great idea and DH & I spoke to one ourselves but it was not mandatory and it did cost $, so it sounds like your clinic provides an excellent service. I am sure it will be worthwhile, they ask some really great questions. Thanks for the comment about my DD, i think she is too, lol. I have met a few other women that were doing a cycle at the same time. Not so much when they were there with their DH's but when we were waiting for b/w and u/s's. I actually "met" them online first, lol. We discovered that 3 of us were going to the same place.

Hi, I would love to join. I just finished going through a fresh IVF cycle and had great results as far as egg production. Ended up with 2 really great blasts and 6 frosties. Unfortunately I got a
when I did my Beta on 3/23. I did a POAS on 3/20 and got a so I was farely prepared this Monday when I got the official results. But after some soul searching my DH and I decided to do a frozen transfer in June. And since I was in the March group and got so much comfort out of being in that group I am hoping to join this one. My hubbie and I did not have to do any counseling but our RE has been amazing so far by walking us through every option and scenario so for that I am really thankful. Also, we are part of a large hospital program that has 2 on-staff REI nurses that are always available to answer questions and lend insight and they do a pre-IVF seminar that was really good. Bottom line is that I think that counseling or a pre-IVF seminar or something along that line is a really good idea though as there are so many decisions to make along the way that's it's good to be informed way before you have to make them. Anyhow, just having gone through both the ER and ET process I hope I can lend some insight to those in the group that might have questions. Looking forward to a great start to the summer! Shari

may/june here as well
Hi,
Just saw our new RE today. We are set to start bcp and Lupron in May, as well as stims(follistim 300 iu and Menopur 150iu). Estimated ER is June 10 and Estimated ET is set for June 13th. This is our second attempt at ivf. My last RE was a real piece of work and hope everyone else who see's him, realizes like I have that he doesnt know what he is doing and that he is only interested in his statisitcs for the office, not the patients themselves. Anyway, I am thrilled to be joining you ladies in June. Good luck and many ![]()
