I was crying while reading them - it's so great to have you all to listen and understand. Thank you!! DH loves me dearly, and I know he'd do anything for me that he can - I was crying in the car after having a discussion about this and he was so hurt and distraught that he couldn't say he's going to give me what I want that he said that I need a better husband. I definitely don't. I know if there's any way possible that he can make peace with it, he'll do it, and your comments helped open up communication about how others feel about the same issue. Now I just need to give him time to think about it.

He's got about 2 weeks and then I'm starting BCPs!

As for me being brave for telling my MIL about the situation, it was more out of desparation than anything. I'd told DH not to tell her anything about us trying, but when this IVF issue came up, he needed to talk to someone and I was sure that since she wanted grandkids, she'd be motivated to find a way to help him deal with it. Oops.

Anyway, I've decided that I'm just going to hope that I'm pregnant right now and then this won't be an issue. I'm also going to try to focus on work, which I've been ignoring for...oh...the last year or so. I better get to it, and I'll check back in in a little bit and get my head out of my arse and see what you all have been up to these last couple of days.

ANGEL :
Don't give up hope.. It sounds like you & dh are really communicating!! You are both strong and from what I have read,, you have a strong relationship. The next couple weeks are just what he needs to really think and finally REALIZE how important this is to you. It will work out! i know it. My advice is NOT to mention or bring up anything regarding fertility in the next couple weeks. Give him good space so he can really think. (this always works for me)

Thinking of you!!

Happy Monday ladies!

Hello, ladies!! Happy Monday to all!
I had a super busy weekend so I just got a chance to check in on all the posts this morning, when I got to my office. (Ummm, we won’t discuss how it is that I have more time to check out the TTC forums when I’m at work as opposed to when I’m on my own time…ahem. Let’s just pray my boss isn’t lurking on here!)

Anyway, I don’t have a whole lot to add, since I’m so far behind and won’t even get to my official Day 1 until sometime around the 19th or 20th of July. Gracious! That seems so far away!!

But I did want to say that after reading all the posts from the last few days, I think our group TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!! We are so supportive and thoughtful and smart and just a great bunch of women! I’m happy to “know” you all! You bring a lot to my days! I pray all of us will be richly blessed with babies galore -- just for being frikkin’ awesome!

AFM, I go to my ob/gyn on Wednesday for a colposcopy (remember I had the abnormal pap? Grrr.). Every one pray for me that it comes back normal, so I can start BCPs in July.
Also on Wednesday I have to go to the first of two diabetes classes that my ob/gyn is sending me to. Although I’m only pre-diabetic now, he and the team of doctors in his practice all agreed that I should start treating myself like I’m actually diabetic. So that’s where the classes come in. I’m going to learn how to eat properly and also how to use one of those darn blood glucose monitors. So while you guys are sticking yourselves in the bellies, I’ll be pricking my fingers. Wow, we are really making a killing for needle manufacturers.
Anyway, let’s also pray that all this will work out fine in the end and that the RE will give me the green light to get this party started!

Meanwhile, I am going to do just like TTCAngel. DH and I have a whole weekend planned of fireworks. No, not the 4th of July kind! The “I-will-probably-ovulate-on-Sunday-or-Monday-so-we-have-ONE-last-chance-to-do-this-for-free!” fireworks!!
So if you see sparks in the sky this weekend, it could be all the national celebrations, but…it might also be us, feverishly BD’ing!

Oh, P.S.: I have switched to decaf tea, but I had a few glasses of sangria this weekend (soo tasty). I'll stop completely with the alcohol when I start the Lupron. Grape juice is out for me, because it has too much sugar (like a whole meal's worth of carbs for me!!) but I have increased my fresh fruit intake. Pineapples, I hear, are good for improved uterine linings, right? So I guess I'll stockpile those in the kitchen a week or so before I start stimming.

I started royal jelly in honey by Y.S farms - it's delicious! I was worried about it tasting yucky but it just tastes like raw organic honey (that's the honey that is cloudy) it's the best medicine I ever tasted!

Hi. I'm completely new to this board but I'm going through IVF soon. I have a SIS tomorrow and my trial transfer on Wednesday. I'm on BCPs and have been for the last 3 weeks. I start Lupron on July 16th with a tentative retrieval and transfer the first week in August. This is all so new and confusing. I don't know where to begin.
Everyone seems so supportive and helpful here so I had to join.

Hi there Evan!
Is this your first IVF? Let us know what your journey has been so far.
I am having my transfer tomorrow afternoon and I'll have a chance to sit with the doctor for a few minutes and go over some questions I have about egg quantity and grading and how many embryos he's prepared to put back......questions about freezing .....stuff like that.
Hope everyone is feeling relaxed and hopeful!!!!!

The more I read the more I am amazed at all the differing opinions of REs. I spoke to my nurse after my neg IUI b/c I was trying to get it all down so I could plan some trips. She said there was nothing wrong with swimming after the ET-just not hot tubs of course. Now I'm sure this is not for day 1 or 2 but during the 2ww in general. Didn't ask about bedrest but if I remember right they have you take it easy that day- but I have not heard about bed rest and when I told the nurse maybe we would get away to the beach during the 2ww you would think she would have mentioned.

Tanter- I'm right there with you and your timing so don't worry you won't be alone! If everyone else is done- we will still be around.

Can anyone tell me when you can test after ET?? Again I have heard so many things. If its a 5day transfer for example can you test 1 week after ET? Wouldn't that be 12 days? My office said you come in 2 weeks after ET but that seems like overkill to me- maybe they want to be sure? And my RE has not said to cut out caffeine or alcohol. Of course I don't drink during the 2ww (with IUI) but have had a few drinks in between. I have cut my caffeine at least in half so I am proud of that but have not eliminated- and in 2ww I cut even more- down to like 1 cup of coffee.

I was told that since they are putting a cathedar in and messing around with your cervix that it is possible things that involve sitting in water for extended periods of time bathtub/swimming/hot tub(this one is for the heat too) could potentially cause an infection. I'm sure many REs have different opinions, but I figure why risk it. I miss the pool during that time frame

Yes, first IVF for DH and I. We've been trying to conceive for a few years now but were having trouble. Went through tests to see what the problem was. DH is fine but I have a blocked tube. They think it's due to a ruptured appendix when I was 16 and that I have scar tissue that's causing some problems. So...after meeting with my specialist in May, IVF it is. Still don't know much about how all this works. I'm very nervous for my SIS tomorrow and trial transfer on Wednesday. DH isn't going with me and I'm planning on going back to work immediately after. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Evan--Good luck on Wednesday!!! Mock transfers usually go very good........

Smiley--After my last ET, I tested (+) 6dp5dt......I think it depends on if you do a 3dt or 5dt.

WinniePoo--Makes sense about the pool......thanks for the info, no pool for me after ET. You are right, why chance it.

1dayatatime--anxious to hear all the info you learn tomorrow......good luck!! If you think about it, ask him about bedrest!

Hello ladies! I've been on the road - which means I've been reading the posts, but haven't had a chance to respond yet. We're in New Mexico until Thursday... DH is doing something work related (sports related) and I'm here to watch. The good news, it's all going VERY well so far and we're already halfway through. (If the forum weren't open to public view I would tell you all about it - pm me for further details if you're curious and nosey, like me!!! ... it's on TV!).

I want to respond to everyone, but I'm so tired as we're in MT time but my brain is on EST time. DH told me I wasn't allowed to go to sleep when it was still light out. Now it looks dark enough, I'm SLEEPING!

EVAN - SIS & trial transfer are SIMPLE!!! Don't worry about it, the worst part will have to be going in with a full bladder, and many doctors don't even make you do that (but mine did). You'll be fine, it's actually very interesting. And write down any questions you have - I find that once the doctor is all set up "down there" my mind goes blank and I don't say anything!!! LOL

Ok girls, I'll catch up with everyone later!!! But I am reading all the posts, and I'll update our list at some point tomorrow (probably). Adios!

Thank you for saying that. They have to do the SIS today and the trial transfer tomorrow because insurance won't cover both on the same day or something like that. I am very nervous about it but it's good to hear that it's simple. I had a HSG test done in January that was a little painful since the Dr tried to unblock my one tube with the dye. I am hoping today's test is much easier.

Hi Kate94! You're in the right place... there are so many really terrific people on this thread.

Evan - SIS is nothing like the HSG. I had an HSG as well and it was terrible! So painful. But this is much less traumatic. How brutal that your dr tried to unblock a tube during your HSG. How would he like it if you stuck a hose up his "tube" and turned it on full blast - on a whim that it'll clean things up. Yikes. I felt that the HSG was like a major power washing of my uterus (it hurts just thinking about it!), but the SIS is like a little piece of angel hair pasta with about 1cc of liquid (which they do slowly). Not an entire garden hose turned on full pressure where they spew a gallon of dye! You'll be fine!!! But let us know that you're OK afterwards.

zozo - Some ladies aren't on any BCPs before their meds. So I wouldn't worryabout only 1 weeks worth. It's nice to have you back - hope AF starts soon so you can get started!

You guys were talking about bed-rest, activities, deit restrictions after ER & ET... I was under the impression that it had to do with how stimulated you were. If you have mild or any OHSS than you HAVE to take it easy (your body won't allow you to do much, you'll be so uncomfortable). The only "bed rest" I have ever heard of has to do with OHSS. Last IUI, I had mild OHSS and the dr said if I had any further pain, I would be on bed rest. Doh! What a kick in the butt to be on bed rest and NOT be pregnant! I have also heard of no major exersize for a few days after ET. Oh, and usually after ER you're groggy and they want you to take it really easy for the next day or two.
