hi to everyone who's been on here and those that have joined in! i hope people are getting a chance to relax and have fun this summer as we're gearing up for august, which is just about a month away!! it will be here before we know it.

i had my shg done yesterday and everything went just fine. something that's sort of a problem is my fsh level is 9.7. my re said they like it less than 10 if ttc, which it is, but to qualify for the shared risk program they want it less than 8.0. grrrr.

so.....they called me today and said that because everything else looks great, seeing as how we have unexplained infertility, of course it looks great! ugh....they decided to let us do the shared risk, which is good, but if it doesn't work, instead of giving us all our money back, they'll keep 10%. it's sort of frustrating, another one of those annoying bumps in the road, but still totally worth it.

i'm more concerned with my fsh level. they said of course they've had people get pregnant with that number, but made it sound like it could be a sign that i have "bad eggs". what? i'm 29 freaking years old...how could i have bad eggs? i'm trying to not to stress, and we'll just wait and see what happens at the er, which got moved up to the 4th or 5th of august. they have a bunch of patients like myself who are teachers, and they figured it would be less stressful for us to have it done before school was starting up, which i appreciate. so what are some fsh levels out there? is mine totally high?

oh oh...and can i just tell you a HUGE blessing that happened to us yesterday? the pharmacy called to arrange to send me my meds. grand total......$96.00....that's it! my insurance covered over $7,000!! i was in complete shock. they covered all my meds for iui's too, but i never thought they'd do it again. wahoo!!!!!! after all this, please god just let it work!

so anyway, everyone have a great week, we're visiting with family and it's so NICE to be away from home with not a care in the world!!

Evan, if I recall correctly (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) ... the only reason why polyps lead to miscarriages is if the embryo attaches to one. It would provide a false blood supply, and an embryo can't grow or survive on that. I had a polyp that took up 90% of my uterus and they said each time I had my period it was like my body was trying to give birth to it, which is part of why I had such painful periods. They also mentioned that after years of that, childbirth would seem easy. Now I just need to get pregnant to find out!! Good luck with surgery tomorrow - don't they just go up there and snip snip! Anytime they take something out/off, they need to sent it for pathology. Don't worry about it and keep us posted!!!

Sorry everyone, I haven't been around much lately. I have been trying to work lots and mix that in with all my appointments. I went and had a lot of dental work done that I have been putting off, OUCH, but heard that it is better for ttc. I also have been in touch with our new RE and she is concerned that I still have my right tube since it is blocked and this can cause toxins to go into the uterus and prevent implantation and also increases miscarriage by 75%!! CRAZY that the other clinic never even asked about this or mentioned anything!! She said that it takes the chances from about 60% all the way down to 10% when you add in the two factors!!!
So, with much begging I have managed to get surgery scheduled for July 6th, which allows us to stay on the time line that we want!!! So there is some good fortune there. I am so not looking forward to this surgery it will be my third surgery in a year all relating to my tubes!!! My OB should be able to do it blindfolded now he has been in there so much! He actually said that maybe he should install a zipper so that he has easy access! Sure thinks he is funny! I will catch up on the posts as soon as I can and I will keep you all informed on things as they go. Oh did I mention that the surgery is 6 days before our first anniversary and so I will be absolutely no fun then and the first was the day of our wedding so I wasn't even fun then. I have decided that maybe July is not a good month for me to have fun! Oh well, gotta do what we gotta do! To Everyone!!

Greenmomma – welcome to August. What age are you?

Evan – sorry to hear that polyps have caused a delay – but look on the bright side, at least it’s totally fixable.

Amax – Hi! And happy first day of July.

Justwantababy – Those FSH numbers are mysterious – I heard they can fluctuate but that’s just typical isn’t it in regards to the shared risk program….still, at least you were granted it – that’s good. And even better about the med costs – you are so lucky.

My mock and SIS went very well – no polyps and the uterus looks great shape and size wise. As I said I was hoping to talk to the doctor about what is game plan was for me but he just lead me to the IVF coordinator. So I asked her some of my questions which turned out to be a bummer…..she made an insensitive comment and I started crying in my annoyance and frustration….anyways I don’t want to go into that right now. I am just really struggling to keep my hope alive right now.

My meds are going to run about $5,000 because they are going to mega dose me L the joys of being 40

I was reading about antral follicles – do you ladies know what your antral follicle count was on day 3?

IVF + Work

Hi Ladies,

A quick question for you all... How are you handling work/managers and IVF? Are you open about it? Are you asking for time off around ER/ET? How are you handling the stresses that work can bring AS WELL as the stress that IVF causes?

I have a meeting today at 1pm with my boss and am trying to decide whether or not to be open about my IVF schedule.

Thanks!

PS - Happy July!

Wow, amax, what a dilema. Do you think your boss will be understanding and maintain your privacy? I have heard others say that onmce they opened up about ivf treatments, their boss asked about every gorry detail. If you do tell, maybe say that you don't want to have to divulge everything that's happening every day? I don't know. I told my manager that I was part ofan endometriosis clinical trial for an experimental drug. She was so taken aback that she's never said another word. We have voluntary meetings (they're boring and usually a waste of time for me). But she was curious why I wasn't attending and I thought my "fib" was better then telling her that her meetings stink!
Please tell us how it goes.

Work/IVF

HI PG FL -
My boss knows that we're trying. She doesn't know details, and I would like it to stay that way. However, a new project has come up that sounds like it will be quite intense and has deadlines that coincide with my ER/ET. I think I am just going to say that I have some personal stuff going on (she'll know what it is) and that I need to be able to scale back around the middle of August. DH and I had a long talk last night about it all and the bottom line is: trying to create a family is way more important than my job at this point. So I'm just going to put it to her that if she needs someone who can be more committed to this project I'm happy to step down. I'm going to be honest, just not detailed. And hopefully she'll have the sense not to ask. If she does, I'll just say I'm not going to go into details.

I'll let you know how it goes...

Smile stuff

My antral follicle count was about 30 (could be a little more my left ovary sits a little high so it's hard to get a count) i had 20 on my right and 12+ on my left.

My boss knows all about what is going on. I just figured it was easier to say this is what I am doing and I will be coming in late because of u/s, b/w and taking a couple of days off for ER and ET. Turns out, although she never had to go as far as IVF in fact she only had medication with timed BD, that she and I have the same RE. So she is VERY understanding of my situation and told me just to call in if I was ever going to be late and to make the time up at the end of the day.

This is the part I hate more than anything...waiting to start injections. I have to wait until 7/13 to start my lupron shots and 7/27 for stims. UGH headache and waiting... frustrating, but exciting. Think I'll go home and quilt to keep my mind off of things.

Hi Winniepoo,
That is so great about your boss. My boss is quite understanding too. I had lots of flexibility from her for the last cycle (working from home etc), but lately she has been under a lot of pressure. Pressure that I feel is trickling down to me. She said yesterday, "I want you to be in charge of this whole thing and just check in with me." That sounded an alarm for me, as originally I was just meant to be assisting in the project. I just need to remind her that there are "other things" going on in my life that take priority.

I know that waiting is so hard. Quilting sounds like a nice hands on thing to do. I noticed that you and I have very similar estimated dates! Best of luck to you!!!

Cool

Happy July!

I have been debating about whether or not to tell my boss about IVF as well. She is really nice and understanding AND she just got back from maternity leave about a month ago - so I think she would be understanding about it. I just don't know if I want anyone at work to know - just in case it doesn't work. (But it WILL WORK!!! I will be positive and prayerful!!!)

I kinda lucked out - I picked my RE based on recommendations from my GYN and friend of mine that used him and it turns out his office is literally across the street from my job and I didn't even realize it when I first decided to use him. So, I'm hopeful all the b/w, etc., won't cause me to miss much time at work. For ER, they are always performed on Saturdays - so by Monday, I should be fine to go back to work - I hope. For ET, I think I will take 2 days off work - and not tell them why. Hopefully no one asks.

I start Lupron on Sunday!! So excited and nervous. Still, my tentative ER is not until the middle of August - so I have a ways to go! I'm just glad Lupron has the little needles. Those other needles are freaking me out already!

i'm more concerned with my fsh level. they said of course they've had people get pregnant with that number, but made it sound like it could be a sign that i have "bad eggs". what? i'm 29 freaking years old...how could i have bad eggs? i'm trying to not to stress, and we'll just wait and see what happens at the er, which got moved up to the 4th or 5th of august. they have a bunch of patients like myself who are teachers, and they figured it would be less stressful for us to have it done before school was starting up, which i appreciate. so what are some fsh levels out there? is mine totally high?

oh oh...and can i just tell you a HUGE blessing that happened to us yesterday? the pharmacy called to arrange to send me my meds. grand total......$96.00....that's it! my insurance covered over $7,000!! i was in complete shock. they covered all my meds for iui's too, but i never thought they'd do it again. wahoo!!!!!! after all this, please god just let it work!

so anyway, everyone have a great week, we're visiting with family and it's so NICE to be away from home with not a care in the world!!
That is a HUGE blessing!!! Wow!!! I'm so happy for you -- and so totally jealous!! (But in a healthy, supportive way. hahaha)
