I think my antral follie count was 12; 6 on both sides.
I was hoping for more, but I am 36, so I guess that's good for 36.

AFM and my boss: I've told her every gory detail, but asked her to keep it to herself. I really had to be up front with her because I work at a reallllly small company where my absence is felt in a big way. And my RE is closer to my house -- which is 90 minutes away from my job. So every appointment keeps me out of the office for about half a day. She's totally nice about everything and even says I don't have to take sick leave for appointments. I will probably take official time off for ER and ET, but other than that, I just tell her when I'm going to be in the office and when I'm not and she's fine. That's been one of the few good things about this process. I don't know what I would do if I had to deal with a difficult boss.

OK - off to my diabetes class and my colposcopy. My sweetie DH took off work today so he can go with me to the class and try to really understand better how he can help me with this blood sugar madness. Awwww! He's a keeper!

getting ready for august 2009 cycle

Hi ladies,
I decided to join a forum to find little bit relief during the journey of intertility treatment with people like me. It is so hard to be alone and not to be able to talk with someone when i am going thru this process. Especially when all my close friends are pregnant naturally.
I will start my first cycle of IVF in aug 2009. I don't know so much about the protocols, can someone give me info?
Me : 34
Husband : 29

proud to be a snuggly cat parent

2 clomid cycle

Newbie: You and I are the same age and our hubbies are too! Sounds like you have an ideal situation/location for your work and RE. Good luck with Lupron! I had a rough time from headaches/moodswings last time, but I've heard that it is different for everyone. And you're right, those tiny needles are great. That 1/2 inch HCG shot is the one I dread!

Tanter: Good luck with the colposcopy! What a great DH!

Welcome umut!
I definitely agree that it is great to have a place to "talk" with people, get support, and ask questions. I, too, have no close friends who are going through this and all have gotten pregnant naturally and easily. Resolve peer groups are pretty great for support as well.

Update on the job front: I spoke to my boss. She was VERY understanding and agreed that this project would likely be quite stressful caused by the tight deadlines and the difficult personalities involved. She also said that these factors couldn't be changed so she left it up to me to decide what I wanted to do. This meant I sort of quit. It is still uncertain as to whether or not she'll have other work for me and if she can find funding so I'm possibly unemployed for the summer, which I'm actually looking forward to. I have been contracting at a university, doing IT/business related stuff, and have been very lucky to get to work from home, so u/s appts and labs haven't been a problem in the past. I even went through my first IVF, ER, ET and all without ever having to say anything or miss much work. But with this new project, it was going to be much harder, with all the stress/deadlines happening around the time of ER/ET. I feel relieved and am glad I said something sooner than later. Thanks everyone who chimed in about their work situations. It sounds like most of you have really good situations that allow you to do IVF without more added stress!

to all the new ladies!!!!!!

The job issue has me really stressed out......I have a very high stress job and it can be physically difficult as well. For my last fresh transfer I only took off a week total for ER/ET and 2ww. I wonder if that affected the outcome of a !!!!!!! So, this time I am seriously considering taking off 2 weeks. My job requires alot of bending, pushing, pulling, and repositioning patients in their wheelchairs and beds. Not to mention being on my feet alot. Those are all things I know I shouldn't be doing. I am going to ask my RE about short term disability for those 2 weeks, since I can't meet my job description. My boss knows alot about what I have been through, but I don't go into details with her. She is understanding for the most part. Only a couple other people at work know about my infertility struggles. I feel silly taking that much time off, but I don't know what else to do?? I guess if it keeps me from second guessing myself at the end....and wondering "what if " then it is worth it.

Winniepoo---I noticed that you quilt.....do you crochet as well???

My boss and I are very close so she is aware of everything. I just took myself off of any kind of schedule and work as often and as much as I want for this summer, I am trying to work lots now so that I don't have to work much at all in August.

I had my pre op appt. today, it went well but I am still so stressed about another surgery.

~ That is GREAT about your insurance covering so much of your meds!!! Mine covers a significant amount of mine not sure how much I will have to pay this time since last time I had my deductible to take care of but they do cover 80%.

Room for another?

Hi ladies!

Im a part of the Sept thread as well but we are moving our dates up by a month.

I just got AF today so tomorrow is the baseline and bloodwork.

This will be my 3rd IVF cycle. We tried for 5 years before I got pregnant with my son. Tried everything and was told I had ovarian failure..next month I got pregnant naturally. Now they are telling me I have PCO which is a little different than PCOS and I am "unexplained".

We are choosing to do IVF this year because with the birth of our son and my gall bladder surgery we met our out of pocket max and IVF would be covered completely for us. Since we arent sure really what my issues are we figure its best to try again and see if we can get some frosties.

We are going to ask our RE to let us freeze all our embryos we get from this cycle. Then in Nov cycle again and do a transfer with a fresh embryo and freeze any left overs. Hopefully doing this we wont ever have to do IVF again....fingers crossed with a new protocl we can ge some frosties..usually my embryos are very poor quality and we've never had any to freeze.

a little background..

Hubby and I have been married for 5 years together for 8 years. We have 1 son his name is Bryar. Hubby is an electrician and I work for Cigna insurance. Hobbies for me are making hair clips and headbands, hubby is into fishing and ATV riding. If everything goes right I will be going back to nursing school next fall after a 4 year break Oh and I cloth diaper my son =)

Surgery done- all okay

Surgery went well today. It took a really long time. lots of waiting, OR was behind schedule, etc. but it's over and all's good. not much pain other than minor cramping. Trial transfer is scheduled for the day I learn how to do the Follistim so my schedule will stay the same. Whew!

I'm lucky that when I told my boss, she was very understanding. I didn't give her details but just told her I was going through IVF and would have lots of short doctors appointments. I'm lucky in that my doc is right up the road from work.

A little more about me. DH and I have been married for 7 yrs together for 12+. Our only child so far is a mini dachshund named Liberty. DH is a teacher and I work for a University, managing the research grants area for the Cancer Institute. DH and I are really trying to stay calm through all of this. I'm anxious for all of this to begin but am nervous about the shots. I'm not one who likes needles.

Evan- you will get used to the needles, they are so small, are you doing them in your tummy? just squeeze the skin I found that helps........the trigger shot is the worst....

Wink about me

DH and I have been married for 3.5 years together for just over 6. Our only baby right now is a Cairn Terrier (toto dog from wiz of oz) named Winston. I like to be very crafty. Knitting, sewing, quilting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking...you get the picture. Crazy Harry Potter and Twilight fan (yes i admit it). I also am very involved in my community theatre. I do mostly back stage tech work, but have been known to sneak on stage every now and then as long as it is a musical and I can sing. Our nursery is full of monkeys and is ready and waiting for a little one to take up residence. Oh and I decided to try my hand at a vegetable garden this year, but got a late start and have 1 pepper and some beans growing...not much to show for it, but at least i know i can make stuff grow and will get an earlier start next year.
