Winnie, I had my first sonogram at 7 weeks and we saw the heartbeat but did not hear it. We got to hear at 11 week sonogram. Thx Alyson It was Nlp who was concerned. You are so very right...sometimes age raises the chances and nothing else. I wasn't so luck in my last pregnancy last year. Our chances were 1 and 79 at age 35 and our baby was born with downs. I'm prego with twins now and I still get a little worried, but we shall see. Good luck to you! I know everything will work out for all of us!!!

Alyson- I have read from many sources that most women only have morning sickness until week 13 or 14 once horomones have leveled out, so it makes sense that yours is going away. Isn't it funny how we worry about things the whole way through!? I also cannot wait until our next ultrasound next Friday! I will be over 10 weeks then....I just can't wait until 12 weeks!!!! Less than a month to go!

I did not know that downs syndrome was more common the older the woman is. So, it must have to do with eggs and egg quality then?

Hi all

I am scheduled for the NT screening tomorrow... I can't wait just to have another peek inside!!
It was optional with my OB and I decided to go for it just to be able to see inside there again!

Winnie - we didn't see a heartbeat at our 1st u/s which was 5w4d, we did see it at 6w4d though. You'll be just fine!! That babe is all snuggly in there!!

Diagnosed with anti-m antibody - monitoring baby will be close throughout whole pregnancy. U/S's weekly from 18 weeks.

Whoops! I blame it on pregnant brain!

Babies are a blessing period. I have a girlfriend with a special needs child and her little girl is the light of her life. Even with our greater chances at the older maternal ages (and perhaps other factors) there are much much greater odds that our babies would not have any special needs.

Yes, Everything will work out for all of us! I love your positive thinking!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have read that too. The worry just continues... When I was 6 weeeks I wasn't sick (morning sickness) so I was worrying then too. I am usually not a worrier! I do have that gut feeling that all is well and my DH really is a great support! Talking and sharing about where we are at is always good.

We had genetic counseling before we did the integrated scan and they gave us the odds for many many birth defects. They really stressed the fact that the odds are so on our side.

Like Maarisa posted, Everything will work out for all of us

Well, I just typed up a post and did something wrong and the whole thing went away.

Anyway... I'm glad to see a little activity on the board!

Winnie - I was over 6 weeks before they detected a heartbeat. And even then, I could just see it - we couldn't hear it until a week later. Don't be nervous. You may see it early, but even if you don't - no worries!

Alyson - How nice to hear that your m/s is going away!! I can't wait until I can say the same thing. I am resolved NOT to worry when it goes away! I will just be HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! I'm praying I will feel pretty good once the second trimester starts! Which is what week 13 or so?

Maarisa and Alyson - I'll be 38 at birth and I too am a little concerned about all the tests / scans / etc., I will be asked to take. I know some are optional. I'm afraid it will just make me worry if I get them done. I'm torn about what to do! "Advanced Maternal Age" - don't you just love that title!! LOL!

Well, ladies - good luck with all the tests, scans, heart beat detections, etc! Our little gummy bears are really growing now! I have an ultrasound scheduled for Thursday morning. I wonder if I'm having the down syndrome test done - without even knowing it!!?? My OB didn't mention it - she just said we would be doing an ultrasound. I'll be nearly 12 weeks by then. Whoo Hoo!

Alyson - how cool is it that you say your baby sucking his/her little thumb!!! The last ultrasound I had - I couldn't really make out anything! I'm so excited about the one I'm having this week - I think he or she will look like a realy baby this time!

At 11w and 5 days - will they do a "regular" ultrasound, by the way?

Nervous

Hey ... was just wondering how you guys are feeling.. I have my NT screening tomorrow and am nervous like crazy I keep thinking that something terrible is gonna happen, like they can't see the heartbeat or it stopped growing. I realise I am likely being paranoid, but I cannot help it.

How are you guys feeling?

Newbie, At 11 weeks I had a regular ultrasound at my OBGYN, I went to a different office for the NT/Integrated Scan.

Sloulamp, I always get nervous before an ultrasound, praying that everything is going to look great, and I won't hear any bad news.

Yesterday I called my OB because I was having stretching ligiment pains and he said that at 13 weeks I really have nothing to worry about, stretching is normal, and that after everything that I have been through no wonder I am concerned. That it is "typical". I feel very reassured.

I think I may be starting to feel the baby move, just little flutters!! WoW - Just in awe that a little one is inside of me growing!

Blessing to you ladies

Alyson, I love hearing what's going on with you. I'm a couple days behind you and love to hear what I'll be possibly feeling in a few days. that's awesome that you can feel the baby already. And I'm so jealous you had an u/s at 11 weeks. My OB didn't do an u/s at my appt so I haven't had one since 8 weeks before I was released to OB! Feels like forever!

Thanks Alyson, everything was fine. In fact the baby measured bigger than what I actually am, and was moving around like crazy! At one point it totally turned the oppososite way! It was amazing. I saw the spine, it's little face, arms, hands!! It was a great scan!

I also have the stretching - it kinda hurts, and can be sharp when I stand sometimes, which made me panic too... but my ob said the same totally normal!!

Evan I am the same as you, I like to hear what people who are a little in front of me have to say. I'm 3 days behind you.

Linz - I hope shows up for you soon!

sloulamp - I guess we all do the same thing - look to those ahead of us to see what's in store. I think I'm a little bit behind you. I had an U/S today. And just like you said - my baby was wiggling around like crazy. The nurse was talking to him saying - "Now be still so I can get a good measurement!" LOL! He did roll over a few times and I could see his limbs and his profile. Its still almost unbelievable! By the way, the nurse said she thinks its a boy. The doctor told me - that nurse can usually see it at 12 weeks (which is almost where I am) - and she actually told my doctor the gender of her last 2 kids at 12 weeks. So we think it may be a boy!!!

I get another ultrasound next week on Friday for that NT scan for downs syndrome you ladies have been talking about. I pray everyone is getting good results! I'm determined not to worry even though I'm 38! I just believe all is well!

Hope you all are having a great day!
