Hey girls! I am also joining the group, my first cycle didn't work, so I am planning on enjoying my summer and then start again.
I start my birth control pills as soon as I get my period and have to be in them until my second IVF. Good luck to all and

I think I start BCPs after my next AF, too, which should be around the 22nd or 23rd of June.
But we haven't had our consultation yet with the IVF-guru to hammer out all the details. I'm still in mega-testing phase! Yesterday I had to get blood drawn to test for infectious diseases and rubella, and tomorrow I go to get my blood sugar tested, get a Pap smear, and have my sono-HSG and mock embryo transfer -- all in the same day!!! Next week, DH is going to get his swimmies analyzed for the gazillionth time, and then on the 15th we sit down with the IVF-guru to go over all our results from all this testing, talk about protocols and, most importantly, money. Everything, so far, is looking pretty good. I had 12 antral follies at my Day 3 u/s and my LH, FSH and Estradiol were all really good. But my RE is worried about my blood sugars, so everyone keep their for me that this test on Thursday is acceptable to him. Otherwise, he'll make me take meds to try to lower my sugars before we start -- and then I'll have to wait some more! I can't stand all the waiting!! And I'll have to join another CB group. Waaaaaah! This is my first time too, so please forgive me if I seem completely nuts! to all of us!!

wow, its so exciting to see all the people excited for August! Yay! and
to everybody!Christeena, good question. I guess the answer is different for everybody, but overall, the FET is MUCH less involoved than an IVF. I will do the HCG trigger shot, to get the timing right and progesterone support afterwards, but other than that, nothing. And not very many appts. either. Just a few ultrasounds, to make sure its an ovulatory cycle, and then the thaw and transfer. But on the FET threads, there are people who are on other things too. My IF is unexplained, so they arent addressing any known issue with medications. (kinda wish they knew what was going on..) Well, Im feeling really good about all you Ladies in Aug! I think its going to be a successful month! I remember during my IVF that in the news it said that more IVFs that take place in the summertime work than in the winter, by a few pecerntage points. I have always wondered why. but whatever the reason, Aug is Definatley summer! and.. Im getting impatient already! These months of waiting are going to be hard. Its enough to make me want to move it up a month. Only problem is, I really dont want to do a transfer, and rest two days, on the fourth of July weekend. I love fireworks. and parades. |

good luck with the blood sugar! Ill be hoping for you! I remember all the infectious disease testing. It was such a punch in the wallet! we paid our entire IVF out of pocket. Here's to hoping you stay in the Aug group! The waiting is the hardest part. Seriously. |

are you doing a FET? Saw those 6 snowbabies, and couldnt help but ask. If so, do you know what protocal you'll be? Youre lucky to have 6. We only got to freeze three. Two are day five, and one day 6. They are like, A-/B+ quality. Im really hoping for the best. I know that it only takes one, but wow, this is really nerveracking already! |

Sweetpea -- Thanks for the good wishes. I will keep my fingers, legs, toes and everything crossed, because you are so right about the waiting. In a sense, we've been waiting all our lives for this, y'know? I want to start the process right now!!
You're lucky you get to do an FET. Seems like it is so much less intrusive/invasive. And I think I saw somewhere, while I was lurking around on a bunch of different threads, where someone said FETs have a slightly better chance than fresh cycles?? I dunno. I could be making that up. Poptita - I am curious because this is all so new to me. You had so many eggs fertilized; how is it that you only ended up transferring one and only freezing 6? Were the others not of the best quality? I'm just wondering because my RE has already said that he thinks he'd only want to transfer one embaby (if we ever get to that point!) and I think he should do two, if we've got 'em. He also said he'd like it if we didn't end up with ANY to freeze, which made me confused. So that's why I'm wondering what your doc said. P.S. I hate my stinkin' blood sugar issues. First, they prevent me from being able to eat all the wonderful foods I love the most (I'm a chocolate-fiend!) and now they could prevent me from having a little baby. ![]() AND - I'm not even overweight! And no one in my family has these problems. It's just me! ![]() ![]() ![]() OK -- thanks for letting me vent! :-)

We're paying out of pocket, too! Every last dime. Yesterday was the anniversary of me and DH's first date and he (very sweetly) took me out to dinner to one of my favorite Thai restaurants. I had water instead of the deee-licious Thai iced teas, because the tea costs $2.50 and water is free. And we skipped the wonderful spring rolls b/c they're $4.95. It made me sad that we are having to skimp on things like $2 iced teas and spring rolls, because this process is going to cost us so much money. But everyone says it will be worth it in the end, right? I want a child so much, but I tell you, right now, it's hard to see past all the $$$ and the dr's visits and the getting poked with needles and anxiety and fertility-pill-popping and stress. Those of you with children already, please, please tell me that you really do forget about all this stuff once you are holding that precious little one in your arms!!

Yes, we're using our snowbabies... we have 4 day 5, and 2 day 6. The embryologist said they are really good, but I don't remember if he mentioned the grading. We're planning on putting 2 back next cycle... we'll see.

Hey there ladies !!
TANTER : you are NOT NUTS girl. Every emotion you are going through is so normal. In fact, buckle up because you haven't even begun to ride this crazy up & down ride! Just try to stay grounded and don't be afraid to ask your RE tons of questions. I was so shell shocked my first go around,, i STILL have some questions and this time Im going to find out everything. GOOD LUCK getting your blood sugar in check! I know the waiting sucks, but we have to keep our eye on the prize. SWEETPEA : Thanks for explaining FET! It must be hard to have unexplained IF. This waiting is driving me nuts too, but I totally agree with you about skipping this June/July cycle and doing August. July 4th is FUN and we have to keep on living and not get 100% consumed with babymaking. I don't know if it makes anyone feel better, but me & DH are also OUT OF POCKET with IVF. His insurance covered $2500 for the first go around (not meds) but nothing for a second try and I just have to give this one more shot. There goes my 401k! who cares about retirement money anyway, I want to live NOW and at least try for a baby. This is my last chance. Im older than most of you, but i still have a slim chance so here goes!!!

Christeena-yeah. The out of pocket blues. I think the 401k is an excellent place to start
Im all for living in the present. You know, I think 40 is a lucky age to conceive. Ill be pulling for you! Tanter-yes. You totally forget about it. Wanting a baby is so obsessive. When you finally have one (for me at least), its like everything just melts away, and you're in love. ..and then the baby clothes habit starts... And yes, we order water too. And I was so happy to read you love thai. Its our favorite too, and we have been going without the appetizers for a long time Such sad losses. actually what I really miss is the tom kha gai. oh well. This is so worth it! my clinic's FET success rates are lower than the fresh rates, but I have heard of clinics where the numbers are the same, or for a few, higher. Too bad thats not me. Popotita-I think you're smart putting two back. I'm doing the same. I was just on one of the current IVF threads, and saw you. Im sorry it didnt work out this last time. Have you been to the FET boards? Reading their success stories has been great for me. Especially the stories of people for whom IVF did not work, but who found success w FETs. |

Hello ladies! Wondering if I can join you all? I was scheduled for a June IVF and totally freaked out and got nervous and decided to switch to August. I feel like I need this time to process what I will be putting my body through and I also wanted to begin accupuncture and more exercise. This is extremely scary for me, not because of the shots but because of the financial commitment. I am trying to learn how to just relax and allow myself to get excited.
pgflorida- My RE actually does the same thing yours does with the scheduled cycling every other month. I really wish I could cycle in July because we start back to school in August but oh well!
