I am traveling today and just came back to find out that AF had arrived. I am crushed needless to say and not sure where to go from here. HAve any of you out there been in this spot and what did you do from here?

This is the first time we ever made it to Transfer but what could be wrong here? I dont know enough about DE but worried that my RE might push this as a next step.

Are there any diagnostic tests I should be doing to understand why implantation did not take place?

I feel like such a failure right now.

I'm so sorry I had similar problems with both stim response and embryos not implanting. My RE brought up DE but we decided to move onto adoption. I do know that DE cycles have higher success rates. My RE could tell my egg quality was poor from the number of follicles containing fluid filled cysts at retrieval. I had 22 eggs on scan and only had 7 collected. Don't give up hope and ask your doctor if he/she thinks it is an egg quality issue. My RE was certain of this considering my DH had high normal counts and 6/7 eggs fertilized. My embryos also appeared "perfect" but he says "perfect" embryos sometimes don't implant because they are not so perfect in reality.

I hate to be such a downer when so many of us come to this forum for hope but I feel like I have no where else to turn. My husband seems to not be as upset as I am that my period has arrived. I am literally crushed and feel like a failure. All sorts of crazy things run through my mind like but most of all I feel like a failure as a woman. Everyone around me has kids (incluing my husband) and they have no idea how isolating this feels. I literally want to to call in sick from work but I cannot and am going to have to make the best of the day.

What would anyone recommned as a next step? Are there tests that can be done to check why this happened? We did not have any eggs to freeze.

I just wanted to give you a hug and let you know that you are not alone. There are knowledgable ladies in this group and I am hoping someone comes a long and offers you some input. I can relate to you on an emotional level though. I know what it is like to feel like you are in this alone because everyone around you has children. We are not any less of a woman though. Failing an IVF cycle is so devastating.

Where are you in VA? What clinic are you going to? Maybe get a second opinion... different protocol might work?

I think we(on this board) have all felt like you are feeling. It hurts...really bad... you just have to pick yourself up and keep trying...

I wanted to say thank you to all of you wonderful women who responded to me as it really made me feel as if there are others who know what this feels like.

I am in VA and am at Shady Grove Fertility. I have heard about something called Estrogen Priming Protocol. No idea if Shady Grove does this.

so sorry you are feeling this pain!! I wish we never had or have to deal with IF.

P.S Get a second opinion, a fresh couple of eyes sometimes does the trick, not every RE believes in the same protocols out there.

I am also a poor responder. I had 2 cycles cancelled before I made it to transfer then I only got 3 good eggs so don't feel like a failure becasue you are trying. Just don't give up hope.

yamensleh - Question - I see you did HPT right before your BETA and they wer negative? I did my first HPT this morning and it was negative. My BETA is tomorrow. What kind did you use? Is there hope fore me still? I am crushed right now.

I am so sorry to hear that your AF showed up. I was looking around for you because of a different board you had made and was wondering what your result had been. I am going in tomorrow for my Beta but I'm not holding much hope for a positive. I have taken a HPT every day since 6dp3dt and every one has been negative. I keep that its just too low to show up, but I feel in the back of my mind that its just how its going to be. I too get these feelings of being a failure. The worst thing about finding out that you're not pregnant is telling the people who knew you were going through this. We also did not have any eggs make it to freezing stage. If I do get a negative tomorrow I am going to immediately set up a consultation with my RE to find out what is going on. I would suggest that you do that, or go to a different facility to get a 2nd opinion and find out other options. I have thought about suggesting DE, but I don't know what the cost of that would be. My insurance only pays so much money and I'm scared that I'm already reaching my limit.

What do you think you would like to do next? Do you think you could handle another IVF cycle?
