PGD Success Stories

Hello,
I'm new to the boards but in the middle of our second ivf cycle. Does anyone have any success stories with pgd? We used ivf w/icsi and pgd on our first try in February which ended in a mc. My husband's family has a gene which we are testing for and have a 50% chance of passing on. He is asymptomatic, however for the first try we decided since we were going forward with ivf to do the pgd as well.
I'd like to hear any stories of success as I've heard both sides to where pgd is beneficial as well as I've read it can compromise embryos etc. So we're on the fence as whether to try it again and fail. Thanks!

Karen

We did PGD with our IVF cycle and I am 3 months pregnant! I highly recommend it. On the day of our transfer I had 9 blasts and the testing showed that only 4 were normal (thats normal, I guess). My RE told us that it was a good thing that we did the testing (although he did NOT recommend it at first given my age and health) because the two embryos he had planned on transferring before he got the results were abnormal ones. If we didn't have the biopsy our cycle would have ended in a BFN or a miscarriage. I was concerned about embryo damage done by the testing, but my RE assured me that that would be highly highly unlikely (less than .9% chance) that any damage would be done if the biopsy was done by an experienced embryologist. I did PGD just to make sure I chose healthy embies. In your situation I wouldn't even think twice!!!! In my opinion, PGD cannot hurt, it can only help!!!!

i am over 8 months pregnant with my first using PGD. we decided to do PGD because we had two miscarriages and i didn't want to go thru that pain again. We had 9 embryos, 4 ame back normal. one didn't make it, and we transfered 1 good, 1 ok, and 1 bad. the best looking of the embryos was the worst one when it came to the testing. it was a very frustrating to wait and see if the embryos were going to be ok, but i am glad that i did it and now i can't wait to meet our little girl!
