Er

Hi Everyone

Thanks so much for the kind thoughts. It's nice to know that you are all thinking about me. :-)

The ER went well today. I was sooo nervous but the procedure was really no big deal. I feel sore and kind of crampy, but not nothing that the advil can't address.

The RE pulled from 5 follicles (one was only 9mm and one was the flat 14 x 8 mm one) but unfortunately they only got 3 eggs. I am just hoping that they are all mature and that at least 2 fertilize.

We are still debating about what to do when we get the call tomorrow, if only one fertilizes. I'm not sure if we'll freeze or not. If its a good emmbie, and my GC has a good uterous, why not just put it in?? I am thinking that freezing it if it isn't good doesn't change anything.

Honey - Thanks for the update. for many healthy embies! I get what you're saying about just putting in the 1 if there is only 1. The only thing I would add is that the cost of ET and the emotional cost of the 2ww (two week wait) is potentially very high. But of course, if it sticks, it sticks. And you do get over it, if you have to. Let's just stay positive that you're going to get multiple healthy embies and lead the way for the rest of us.

Honey-I'm glad the ER went OK for you, it sounds like you're reasonably comfortable. You and your DH will decide what is best for you guys. I say go with your instinct. (probably not helpful!) Whatever you decide, things will work out.

Patilla-I'm like you, I like to look everything up on the Internet, but I've learned to take everything with a grain of salt and have faith in my RE or else every statistic will drive me crazy!

Hang in there, ladies!

Thinking of you you and crossing my finger that all of your embabies stay strong and healthy. It is also nice to know that you are feeling reasonably well post procedure. Relax and take care of yourself.

Patilla, glad I am not the only one with ovaries behaving badly. DH says it is so in my nature to have this happen to me since I always do things contrary to the way I am supposed to - - what a sweetie he is.

Val, what great news to hear things improved so much in just a couple of days. I look forward to hearing more great news from you in the next few days.

AFM, I got pushed back a day on my schedule. I ended up taking one extra day of anti-baby pills, but as of today I begin officially waiting for . Of course the doctor said it would be day after tomorrow, but from all of your wonderful experiences I know not to count on it being textbook at this point. I will see the doctor on Thursday, 25 June and based on the blood and ultrasound results will start stimming that day - - or not. Although I really feel like all will be fine on Thursday. What I am worried about is the shots and not really becasue shots bother me but because I have always been a terrible, terrible bruiser. I just have my fingers crossed that I won't be looking black, blue and purple - - never a pretty sight!!

OMG, I forgot to ask if anyone has seen the Pixar movie Up?

Yesterday was my birthday and DH took me out to see it. The stork short film at the beginning was so cute that it had me laughing out loud. Then the movie started and I was bawling like a baby in the first 10 minutes. Umm, have I ever mentioned how glad I am that I have not been on BCP for years now??? Of course, there was a moment that was so poignant to our specific situation that DH looked at me and I saw his eyes water too - - just that he did not have tears streaming down his face like me!!

Then we got home and I cried about something else on TV. I am so not a big crier - - looking forward to when I am on a more even keel but who know when that will be????

Good Morning all !!

First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIGHTOWL !! We have yet to see UP. One of these days we will get there. And I hope the witch shows up for you soon.

Honey - so glad your ER went well. that your 3 eggs thrive and thrive. I have heard some great stories on these boards of women with 2-3 eggs and they are

KMP - glad u are doing well with the stims. Love that you were able to do your shots in a restaurant. I tried it with my Follistim pen when I was doing my IUI's. and of course, someone knocked on my stall door. So, ever since then - I do my shots at home. But more power to you for keeping on-keeping on.

AFM - I just got home from my US and E2 on my 4th day check-up. The US showed 11 total follies (7 on the left, 4 on the right) They are still small and I know not a guarantee of 11 eggs - but to see progress was a good thing. My lining was about 4.6 which is down from last week - but I did just get over my period. So now with the meds it has time to plump up again.

So, I will call in for my e2 results this afternoon and pray to see an increase. But all in all - I would say this was a great appt.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Nightowl--I know how you feel...I was the same way on the BCP...I watched Bolt...(I am very attached to my dog) and my husband laughed his butt off at me the whole movie, because every time poor Bolt looked sad, I cried...I mean tears streaming!! The good news for me is I have not had that since I stopped the BCP...I have heard that the Lupron can have similar effects, but I have not had that problem, just some bloating and crampy feelings, which could have been because I was having my period at the same time. Feeling okay today!!

Wannabe- for your good appointment!!

Holly-I am staying off of the Internet today...but of course I will have enough to stress about without it...even if I have to make it up!!

Honey-glad to hear that you are doing well after your ER. I would not like to be in your shoes to make that decision, but I think I would be feeling the same way that you are...healthy embie/healthy uterus...why not!! for a healthy embie!!

So far so good

Hi Ladies,
I had my day 6 us/bw today. 7 follicles over 1 cm and Estradiol of 324. RE was happy with results and will stay on same medication (225 Gonal F/5 Lupron). Another uw/bw tomorrow morning!

Here's a tip for you guys that you may already know. She said one of the best things we can do to counter side effects like bloating and dizziness is to drink WATER, WATER, WATER. She said staying hydrated is one of the most important things we can do. (Especially now that it's summer, I'm in Atlanta and is was 97 yesterday).

Something we already know, but a good reminder to keep drinking water!

Go pour a glass of water right now!
Holly

Nightowl - I bruised a bunch last time but not at all this time. I got the tip that you use the alcohol pad and put pressure on the spot where you gave the shot for 10 seconds after each shot. It works!

Holly - Thaks for the reminder about water. I don't think I had enough water after ET last time. I still think about that. Water, water, water.

Have ay of you guys gained a bit of weight so far? Is it just me????

I gained 4-5 pounds...and I already weigh way too much!! I did weigh myself this morning for the first time, because I start the Gonal-F this evening and they said a symptom of OHSS is weight gain, so I thought I would monitor it a little....not that I need the added stress of weighing myself every day!! I have been on the Lupron for 9 days, and that gain is since I started that...I was feeling bloaty, and today am peeing a lot, so maybe some of that will go away!! Hopefully.

Honey - congrats on your ER!! Glad that the procedure went smoothly and you're not in a lot of pain. We are all that your embies divide and grow!!

NightOwl - Happy Birthday!! I had a similar experience when I watched Marley and Me with DH and SIL...started crying like 20 minutes in and didn't stop until the end. And afterwards I just curled up in bed. Poor DH didn't know how to console me. I'm not a cryer either normally. Unfortunately, I can't make any predictions about how Lupron will be for you, since it's treating me so differently this time around. But for my 1st IVF, I didn't have any issues with it. So hopefully it'll be a breeze for you!

Wannabe - great progress! Sounds like your follies are responding well.

Holly - thanks for the hydration tip! It's also good to start the protein routine once you get closer to ER/ET.

Mom43 - I have only done 2 days of stims so far, so no weight gain yet. But your follies grow anywhere between 1-3mm per day, so I know it'll hit soon. Last time, I didn't get any bloating until my 5th day of stims, and then it all came on at once. Just remember that it's a good sign that the follies are doing well and growing!

Have a good Father's Day everyone!

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I'll add my dates to calendar today.

All of you seem to know your levels and counts. Do you ask or does your doctor tell you? I went today for my 1st monitoring appointment after being on the Follistim and Menopur for 3 days and he just made the comment that my ovaries are not what he wants them to be, but said he can work with it. While he was looking around the told the nurse 5. I don't know what that means - I should have asked. I will when I go back on Wednesday for my next check.

Holly - So glad ur appt went well. Thanks so much for the water tip. It would be a good idea for me too - was 100 degrees here in Florida today. TOO HOT !!

I had my day 4 check today - even though I have only done 3 days of shots. They saw 11 follies, all small and my E2 went up to 82.7. My RE is keeping me on the same protocol and I go back Tuesday morning for another check. Seeing how well you are doing, and our numbers were pretty close - I feel very good about where I stand. My RE is pretty conservative and keeping me on a pretty low-moderate dose. So I trust him completely.

So, congrats on a great report today !!

Shots

Who is giving their shots in their legs vs. the belly? I am doing leg, because anything with my belly makes me queasy...I had a bb ring when I was thinner, and the first time I cleaned it, I almost passed out. But with these shots, even though they DON'T hurt at all, for some reason it is getting more and more difficult for me to stick the daggone needle in my leg, and I am experiencing some serious anxiety about starting the Gonal F tonight when I get home from work. AAAAHHHHH!!!! I am generally described by friends and family as "calm", but I don't think they know how I feel on the interior, and tonight I feel very overwhelmed!! I am sure I will do fine, but my coping skills are seriously going down the tubes here!! Fortunately, I still have my sense of humor, or I might need a pill!! Okay...leaving work in T minus 40 minutes...(I work only on weekends, so that is a GOOD thing!! My "work week" is OVER!!) Good night, Gals!! Thanks for reading my vent!
