Er 7/2 Et 7/5

Hi All,
I just found this site. I am currently on my first cycle of IVF. My husband had a vasectomy after having two children with two baby mamas...one is now his ex wife and the other was literally a one night stand...both with condoms!! So....hopeful for SUPERSPERM!! He never wanted another, but now that both of my SD (age 10 and 13) are living with us (we've been married 5 years), he has reconsidered. I think as my reward for putting up with the psycho **'s!! (BTW, he is no longer the party animal of the past!!) It is the same self pay price for the reversal vs. IVF/ICSI, so we opted for the IVF/ICSI. I have one furbaby, 9 years old, a Jack Russell/Beagle mix, Zacch.

My husband has had his sperm aspiration, so we have good, frozen sperm....in fact, they were so eager to come out that the syringe was literally pushed back in the doctor's hand when he stuck it in!!

I had some difficulty with my mock transfer...two separate hour long occasions of trying to pass the catheter through my cervix, and culminating in having to be sedated and have my cervix dilated!! And my estrogen was too high to start the Lupron initially, so I am back almost 2 weeks from my original dates, but I started finally on Friday...so!! I know I don't have any thing to "complain" about, as this is my first cycle, and we are "boringly" healthy, per my RE!! But it is SOOOOO hard to wait!!

Cologirl-I have basically had "spotting" the entire time I've been on BC...and it is getting worse since starting the Lupron. My nurse said that is normal.

All-do you worry that the embryos will just fall back out after they put them in??? (I know...I know, but I worry about it anyway!!)

Not sure how you get all the info at the bottom, but my ER is 7/2 and my ET should be 7/5.

KMP - best of luck with the suppression check - your doctor has a 6:30 Appt, that is was tooooo early!!!

I know it's so hard to see a new baby, I have had a number of friends and colleagues who have had babies in the last few weeks. It's been tough but I think the thought of it is harder than the reality!!!

Great to hear from you all that Menopur seems like a good option for a good amount of nice follies

AFM - first scan tomorrow at 8am. Hoping I'll get some good news from the US/BW. First couple of injections has gave me a bit of a headache, a bit moody and tired. Nothing out of the norm for me then!!

First IVF on same cycle

Hi Ladies!
This is my IVF and first post to the website. 33 yrs old with "unexplained infertility". I've doing Lupron injections for 2 weeks, my suppression check is scheduled for June 15th, too. Looks like we're on the same schedule.

Question: Has anyone experienced spotting with Lupron? I was done with my period, then a few days later, I'm bleeding. I'll see my doctors tomorrow during the suppression check, so I can ask but I thought I would throw the question out there.

I'm glad I found this site. I think it will be nice to check in with others going through the same thing at the same time.

Good luck to you all!
Holly

patilla! If you want to create a signature at the bottom of your posts, there is a link in the top left nav bar called "User CP" (cp=control panel). Under Settings & Options on the left, there's a link to "Edit Signature." Sorry to hear about your mock transfer...My actual ET last round was really painful. Turns out I have a curve in my cervix and a retroverted uterus, but both seem to be open. I can't imagine being on that table for an hour each time. Hopefully the dilation works for you. Good luck on your cycle!

BTW - my DH was scared when we were doing the IUIs that the sperm would fall out...After the IUI, he'd make me lay down in the car with a pillow under my bum! I did read somewhere about a study where women who had their IVFs were made to jump up and down after the procedure to see if there was any difference in pregnancy rates with the group who didn't jump. Results showed no significant differences in preg rates between the groups. So I think once those little embabies are in there, they want to make a home and they won't come out.

Feel free to add your dates to our IVF calendar: junjul_ivf: June 2009

Cologirl - I had a tiny bit of spotting almost a week ago...RE nurse said it was normal as long as it looked like spotting. If you are feeling worried though, I would call RE or the nurse. (I get worried often, so they are used to me calling them...I'm lucky that they are so nice about it ) How is your acupuncture going?

Val - tell me about the early appt! It's the 1st one of the day. It works out though, since I won't hit traffic on the way to work.

Trish117, Mak27, Nak1208, and NightOwl...hope you guys are doing well!

Just saw the new post... Holly! Good luck on your suppression check tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

honeybear, patilla and hollyd. Definitely put your info on kmp0430's calendar. It is so great seeing where everybody is in their cycle. If everyone could update with their specific results (how large the follicles are and how many, if any changes are made to meds, how many eggs retrieved, etc), it would be really fun to track everyone in their details.

kmp0430 and wanabeamomma - good luck with your suppression checks tomorrow. On to stims!

Valthegal - I was on FSHs menopur and gonal-f last time and was exhausted. I am on them again this time and am equally as tired. I just tell myself it's because my body is producing so may healthy eggs.

Last time (my first IVF), I kept visualizing having healthy twins. It was actually really hard for me to picture, so I felt like a visualizing failure. It seemed so far away. So I read somewhere to visualize in smaller bits what's right in front of you. So with the bcp and lupron I pictured my ovaries being beautifully suppressed. Now with the stims I started today, I'm visualizing my many healthy eggs gathering in their follicles (as you can see, I am not a doctor). That makes it more fun for me to visualize and more real, and maybe it's even making a difference. Can't hurt!

Hi Everyone and to all the new names and faces!

I had to check in this morning to see how you are all doing and where everyone is at. Wow, I checked the calendar and saw that kmp, wannabe, and Holly all have suppression checks and also that mrembo is taking her last BCP. What a busy, busy day we have!!! Things are inching closer everyday. Good luck to everyone with appointments today. I have one for tomorrow and to be honest I am not to sure what all will be covered - - of course the paperwork says blood work and US and call back in the afternoon. I am assuming that they will finally educate me about the injections. I am getting worried about this.

Please share what medicines you are taking this cycle. Apparently I am doing an antagonist cycle with Follistim/Repronex/Ganirelix. My insurance's wholesaler did not have the Menopur so the doctor said the Repronex was fine. As far as a I can tell these are the same thing (HMGs) except for the name. Does that sound right to you?

I have been trying not to obsess and part of that is not checking in here every little while to read. I am sure that will get a lot harder this week. I spent the first part of last week working on getting my meds ordered and paid for by my insurance and happy to say it all resolved. We had to make a few adjustments but we ended up not having to pay for medicines. After that was over I really, really tried not to think about this, but...

I have not felt too good this week. I will not be taking lupron at all - - the only suprpression I will be doing is the 21 days of BCP, but in addition to those I have been taking folic acid, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, a prenatal, an Omega-3 supplement, my regular thyroid medication, and an allergy medication (I only get allergies in June/July - - UGH) at different times of the day!! Well something in this concoction makes my stomach feel sour. Are any of you taking dexamethasone??? I had a hard time finding out what this was for becasue I have not seen the doctor since he prescribed it. What I have read though is that it significantly reduces the chance of the IVF procedure being cancelled. Hmm?! Also the BCP have made my breasts tender which they rarely are but I don't know how much they have helped with supressing my ovaries. I always have pretty intense ovulation pain on my right ovary and I had that pain right around the time of my typical ovulation. I don't really think it could have been anything else since I have been having this pain for a few years now.

Be sure to let us know how your supression checks went today!

Good morning all -

Still at the RE - had my US and BW then waiting for the meeting with my IVF nurse. GOD Bless my DH and his laptop.

A little concerned as still no AF and this morning they only counted 7 antral follicles. Is it so few bc I have been suppressing. Did I suppress too well ????

Last check, I had 14 right before BCP and Lupron and the month before that I had 18.

What does this mean? The nurse who took my blood said its nothing to worry about and that its quality over quantity. She said if I had 1-2 then that would be a possible concern - but 7 is a nice number.

Ok - not even stimming yet - and the anxiety is on overdrive. Will def be using those meditation tapes tonight.

So, I guess I just need to meet with the nurse to get my instructions and then wait for my call this afternoon to see if we can start stimming.

Hope KMP and Holly - that your suppression checks went well.

Have a great day all !!

Sending positive thoughts your way! Chances are that things will work out just fine. Have a good day and try not to worry too much.

On a side note, it is cool that your RE has wireless. I wonder if mine does? We just got a netbook a few weeks ago and it is the perfect on-the-go size!

Hello,
Back from my suppression check! Everything looked good, so I'm hoping I can start stims tonight. My lining was 4.1, and they saw 10 antral follicles (although the u/s tech does the count quickly, so the number could change once the nurse calls .). Wannabe, I was hoping for more antral follicles too, but remember that it's not the only predictor of what your counts will be later, and it's definitely not a predictor of egg quality.

I am only taking Lupron/Gonal-f. But Gonal-f and Follistim are the same, and Lupron and Ganirelix are the same. I think Repronex is similar to Menopur in that it has trace amounts of LH. I can't help you with the dexamethasone...but someone i was cycling with last round took a steroid because she was doing assisted hatching, so the body wouldn't reject the embryo.

All right, off to a meeting. The nurse will be calling in the afternoon with my bw results...I'll be sure to post when I get them.

Wannabe & Holly - good luck with your results!

Update ....

So, I am finally at work.

I met with my IVF nurse and she said 7 antral follicles has nothing to do with suppression. But that its an average number and no reason not to proceed. We just need to keep our fingers crossed that the stims do their job and I respond. And I could produce more than 7 eggs. Just need to wait. Am still not thrilled but feel better about the number. She said 2-3 would be something of concern. But 7 is a nice average number.

We need my Estrogen today to be less than 90. My lining was about 5.

We also need to wait to start stims until I start some type of a period. Even brown staining is ok. But we can't start until I do.

Then after 3 days we go back. She showed me how to mix the meds and everything.

I forgot to ask about being allowed to exercise and if and when we can have sex, so when I talk to them again I will ask.

So, I will call the phone-tree (their messaging system) later to make sure my blood work was ok and then PRAY PRAY PRAY for my period. I will post an update when I have one.

KMP - glad that your appt went so well. And glad u get to start stimming.

I will be doing 5 units of Lupron, and 150 of Menopur and 150 of Follistim.

This will be our first IVF, so I have been reading a lot about what should happen. I am doing 21 days of "anti-baby pills" (I am in another country and everyone in the RE's office refers to them as anti-baby pills and DH and I thought it both cute and ironic - - so we will probably call them that for the rest of our days) and will be finished with them on June 19.

Then on June 20 I will have a birthday and I have this dreaded feeling/silly notion that the passing of the day will cause a rapid drop in my fertility by the next day. Aaargh! I am so tired of hearing about age and fertility. My maternal grandmother had my mother at 44 - - in fact she had two children after 40. My paternal great-grandmother had her last at 48 and so did DH's grandma. I just have to keep reminding myself about this in the next weeks. Heck, I am not even going to be 40 yet, so there has to be a glimmer of hope. LOL

Anyhow, I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing this journery with you. Wishing all of us tons of

ETA: I added myself to the calendar. Thanks for setting that up KMP. It sure helps visualize where everyone is.

"anti-baby pills"...that is just too cute. Sounds much better than BCP. Lots of other ladies on the board have had success and they are 40+ so dont stress about that too much...i know its easier said than done!

I'm kinda in the same boat as you in regards with our IF being vasectomy issues. My DH had his reversed after 11 yrs but it wasnt a sucess but we were lucky enough to get plenty of sperm via a TESE operation and theyre now sitting on ice ... your right, the wait is soooo hard but we will get there
