Maribeth!

Shilo and Maribeth - add your dates to our calendar: junjul_ivf: June 2009 - it's a good way to keep track of what's going on in everyone's cycle. The link is also in my signature (June/July IVF Calendar).

Wannabe - that's exciting news!!

Holly - congrats on getting to stim!

Honey - hang in there...I gained weight last time around, just from all the meds and growing follicles/lining. I gained about 4 lbs last time. Your follicles grow 2-3mm every day, so a little weight gain is to be expected.

AFM - I am still bummed about waiting until Fri to start stimming. I looked at my last IVF cycle, and I started stims on a Friday, and my 3dt was a total nightmare. My clinic has a rotating cycle for which REs are 'on duty' to do ERs/ETs, so I'm scared I might get the same RE as last time. I have to call my RE and do some detective work tomorrow to see who is 'on.' Maybe they will let me start stims a day early if it's the same RE as last time. It's worth a shot.

G'Night!

KMP - thaks for the warm welcome and the suggestion to update the calendar! Sorry your cycle is being delayed.

KMP, hollyd, mabellina - it looks like we might all be celebrating the 4th the same way! Let's !

Today was Day 5 of Lupron and I have really noticed the pants getting tighter though I haven't weighed myself - BT as well, but this is the first day of any real symptoms.

Good luck and good night ladies!

Holly, wannabe and kmp - - sounds like everyone's appointment went well. We are one step closer everyday!!!

wannabe, I am sure that will arrive soon but I so understand the frustrations of waiting and waiting and. . .

KMP, boy, that is sure a bummer about too many people already being scheduled for your time!! I would be a little disappointed by a delay for that reason.

You ladies are making me uncomfortable already just thinking about bloat and tight pants. I don't have enough stretchy pants to make it through that many days! hAHa!!

This is what I found about the dexamehtasone. It is an article from the Oxford Journals. Basically they did a study of women undergoing IVF and one group received a low-dose of dexamethasone and one group received a placebo. Basically, they concluded that the group on low dose dexamethasone co-treatment had a reduced "incidence of poor ovarian response." Dexamethasone may also "increase clinical pregnancy rates and should be considered for inclusion in stimulation regimes to optimize ovarian response."

I thought it was interesting and figured some of you may want to know why some REs prescribe this medication.

I will check in later after my appointment this afternoon.

LOL!! One day those babies may look back and truly wonder how mom and dad celebrated the 4th of July weekend in 2009. They may just figure that all the fireworks were at home.

Don't weigh yourselves girls...don't we all have enough to be stressing about without that???!!!

I find it interesting to read everyone's comments and see how different RE's are handling this...for example, having to wait for to start stimming vs. my RE who says I may or may not get another when I stop the BCP...of course as much as I have been "breakthrough" bleeding in the past two weeks, I would think my uterus would be dry and empty...

to the newest joiners...I think it will be neat also to go through this together and when we ALL get we can all celebrate together!!

My husband is a little nuts...I mentioned that he really doesn't even want another kid...well, now that we have started, he is so excited...um...he is talking to my ovaries...and I mean directly against my stomach....I am writing a book when this is over!!

Ovulation Control Pills? Yeah, right!

Hi, again!

Anyone remember yesterday when I said that I did not think the anti-baby pills were working because I had my typical ovulation pain in the right ovary? Well, guess what? I am not suppressed at all. Today's US indicates I ovulated and have the cyst to prove it. If it does not go away by next appointment and is making hormones then we will have to sit out another month. Boy, I was so religious about taking those darn things at the same time everyday too.

I am not going to panic yet. On my clomid cycles I never had any cysts that stuck around after my period anyway so . My doctor just smiled and said I was looking to make things hard on him. He is such a sweet guy.

Hi Guys, sorry to be on a downer but looking for a bit of support today!

Went Mon for US/BW, RE was concerned that E2 levels were a little low, as is my lining. So had another US today and no real improvement!

I have another US/BW tomorrow morning but if there is no real improvement then he may cancel this cycle.

Have any of you had this before?? I am so dissapointed, I just feel like such a failure at the minute.

Then I heard that as my company has merged recently, my role doesn't exist anymore. So I have to apply for some other jobs, but with no real guarantee of anything at the end of it.

I could just go and climb under a rock!! My poor family are all so concerned and I hate making everyone worry about me.

Oh no! I'm so sorry...I can't believe the BCPs didn't work! It's a good thing your RE is so nice...it must be great to have your RE doing your ultrasounds. I don't get much contact with my RE in the early part of the cycle. I have to rely on her nurse, which is sometimes frustrating (although she's really nice).

I hope your cyst goes away quickly!

Patilla - that is too cute! You should definitely write a book about your experiences.

AFM - talked to RE's nurse...she said that if my ET is on Thurs 7/2, my RE is 'on duty' that day. But she's not 'on' on the 4th (would-be 5dt). So if I go the same way as last cycle (8 days of stims), then they might do a 3dt either way so that my RE can do it. Geez, I don't know why they have to delay me for 4 whole days. It's causing me much angst. I'm wondering who got to the top of the list over me to start stims yesterday. I just left another message for the nurse asking if they are delaying my cycle 4 days, why can't they do a few more/less days to increase the chances that I get my RE on ET day? What a pain this whole thing is. Or maybe I'm just overreacting because the hormones are getting to me. I had this awful dream last night that I was giving myself PIO shots, but the progesterone wasn't going in, so I had to keep poking myself with needles and ended up with a bloody mess all over my thighs.

Sorry, don't mean to bring anyone down...just having a bad morning.

Hey there Val - its so true that when it rains it pours. But I def believe that the powers that be do not give us more than we can handle at any given time.

I am sorry that you are slowly responding to your meds. I am new to all this, but can't they adjust the meds you are on to see if there is an improvment. Why just stop???

I am sorry to hear about your job too. I am sure that you will land something and all will be ok. This added stress can't be good for you right now - so please try to take good care of yourself.

Sending you !!!

Thanks Wannabeamomma.

I don't get it either. He saw yesterday that I wasn't responding very well and he didn't ask me to increase my dose? Honestly I don't get it!

Hope you can start stimming soon and get a better result then me! I'm sure you will, I seem to be a bit of a rarity from what I can gather.

Thanks for your support

So, my RE nurse just called to check on me to see if I started my period and well, um...NO !!

She said if I get it today or tomorrow, even just some brown spotting, I can start my stims that night.

But if I don't have it by Thursday then maybe my RE will bring me back in to see what is what.

I am getting scared.

My lining was good. My E2 was good.

Back when I was on the pill, I had perfect 28 day cycles. Today is CD 28 for me. So I would expect my period late today or tomorrow. But she told me that the pill is supposed to alter that a bit and that I should have gotten it soon after stopping the pill. But its not like a new super-pill. Its still a regular BCP that I started on day 2 of my period.

I have no idea what my body is trying to do to me.

for my period.

OK, I'm definitely over my pity party. Val, did the RE have any answers as to why your E2 might be so low? I really really hope it goes up and you don't have to cancel. Don't feel like a failure...it's definitely not your fault. I agree with wannabe...there must be something they can do to make E2 increase.

I'm really sorry about your job and the additional stress At least they have open positions in your company that you can apply for. I'm sure the job situation will work out. Try not to get too down about it. A few yrs back, I lost my job a week after we closed on our house. It was super-stressful, but I ended up with a better job in a much better work environment, so things just have a way of working out.

What is it about today?? Something's definitely out of wack...

VAL - sorry about your Dr. talking about cancelling your cycle. I also don't understand why they don't just increase the meds. Sorry about your job situation. It is hard to deal with those kinds of things with all the IVF craziness taking place.

I had my day 7 ultrasound today. The Dr. only say 4 follies, two that were about 20 mm, one that was 11 mm and one that was only 7mm. She also saw some other small ones that were to small to measure. I go in two days from now for my day 9 utrasound and then we'll know if that 7mm one grew or shrank.

I am really disappointed. She made it sound like most likely they will only be able to retrieve 3 eggs. She can't give me any more medication as I am on the highest doses of everything. She says we'll have to wait and see what happens, but if only 1 fertilizes, then she may recommend freezing that one and doing another stim and ER cycle to try and get more eggs. Uggh.

I am just praying and hoping that the little follie grows and that they can retrieve at least 4 eggs. I also found out that she will be out of town next week, so a Dr. I have never met is going to be doing my ER. That kind of freaks me out a bit.
