embryo transfer questions

Hello friends

i would like to thank all the members here since you offer a tremendous support ..............

i am now preparing to start my first IVF cycle and i am trying to do shared risk program......now i am 30 and DH is 33 and it is unexpained infertility........

in the shared risk program my RE wants a minimum of 2 embryo or blastocyst to be transfered.....i am too very scared to think about twin pregnancy.....i really really want success in first cycle and want to do all that i would to get BFP but at same time not want ti risk multiple pregnancy.......

so i would like to know at my age 30 what are chances that i will have chances of multiple prgnancy if best 5 day 2 blastocyst is transfered, all members who did 5 day 2 blast transfer had twin pregnancy? please advice me that will make me feel a little better i am really in need of some help support and advice......................

There are several different KINDS of blasts: early standard expanding hatching Also, there are different levels of fragmentation that can be present. And size of the lining is an issue as well. I don't think there is a definitive answer to this question. That said, I'd venture a guess at 20%.

I think you can look up your clinic and see their statistics from 2006 and beyond. The national data (National Summary) says that 44.7% of transfers result in a live birth. 29.3% of those are singleton live births. So if my math is correct and I am interpreting the chart correctly, your chance of a multiple birth is 15.4%.

Have you tried to talk to your RE about your concerns? Is there another program you can try in which you feel more comfortable? Have you thought about selective reduction if needed?

I think twins would be such a blessing, but I understand the concern over being a high-risk pregnancy.

Oftentimes it is impossible to know what will happen since that is kinda how we all ended up here in the first place. You might want to consider multiple scenarios and make a 'game time' decision.

looking at your clinic stats can help too.

I'm 31 and my RE really is adamant about not putting in 2 depending on egg quality because of the risk of triplets and he says that if he puts in 1 i still have a chance of getting twins. I'm nervous about just transferring 1 incase it doesn't work but its their policy. Illinois seems big on avoiding multiple pregnancies.

Its hard to tell but i guess different clinics have different policies. Weigh your Pros and Cons before making the decision.
