jp - 'I am past the disappointed stage and just frustrated and wishing I could know why?' <-- I personally don't think I'll ever get past the disappointed stage - cuz it just sucks some serious butt!! And, made even more frustrating when they don't know why it didnt work. You know, if I didnt have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all hehehe <-- Though that's changing this time - I can feel a big coming my way, and I'm going to cry like a lil school girl when I finally see it! LOL

2lines - OMG - congrats on losing the 40 pounds - you ROCK!!! You should be sooo proud of yourself <-- Can you tell that I'm a Personal Trainer? LOL But seriously.. that's sooo awesome!! And yes, you and DH have a wonderful time and enjoy wearing all those NON frumpy clothes - do share pix when you get back.

3rdtimesthecharm - Good for you for thinking so positively!! I firmly believe that this cycle will be THE ONE for all of us here - people will talk about us for a long time - the one group that every single one of us got our long awaited Go team go!

Samantha - Yup, they dont put us to sleep here and that's terrifying, especially knowing what it was like last time - OMG - there will be no sleep the night be4 that procedure. Praying that they gimme some really fancy drugs so I dont feel it this time

Also, Samantha, sounds like our protocols are pretty similar too, I too am starting Suprefact on CD 21, with no BCP's then about a week later - stimming. It's getting close now.... 13 sleeps until it all begins <-- Not that I'm counting LOL

2lines - OMG I'm so excited for you - I've been to Hawaii too - YEARS ago, when I was 16. We too went to a luau and ate pig that was cooked in a pit in the ground.. and purple potatoes and watched a flame throwing dude, who had to stop half way through, as he almost lost his 'loin cloth' hehehe Would have been more entertaining should he have lost it tho, I must admit hehe And OMG, you dabble in photography too - so do I!! I love it, and I couldnt agree with you more about not feeling up to it lately <-- I just took mine out last night to take some pix of the flowers my DH got me for my BDay! When taking pix - it can get you away from everything - you go into your own little world..... which is sure nice at times.

's are coming - 's are coming!!! I can't freakin wait!! hehe

Happy Saturday everyone!!!
PS - Any of you have tattoos? I got a tattoo last year on my BDay to symbolize our fight with IF - I got the word 'Believe' written in fancy script on my wrist and funky lotus flowers up my left calf - lotus flowers are thought to symbolize .... 'coming out on top' I guess would be the best way to describe it. They start growing on the bottom of a dirty pond, and rise to the top to bloom, beautifully. So they symbolize our fight with IF, our struggles - only to rise to the top and overcome it. <-- Anyways, the reason I asked, is also because I'm going to get more today (warning, if you dont have tattoos, they're addicting) I have a huge koi fish on my right shoulder (from shoulder to elbow) symbolizing 'strength and courage to get through lifes difficulties' and now I'm gettng more added on today - getting some cherry blossoms and more lotus flowers to add to it. Green seems to be the most popular color symbolizing fertility - so you can bet your butt that there will be some green added as well

Thank you to everyone for your supportive posts and welcomes. I know many of you have been through m/c too and understand all too well how difficult it is.

2lines - Have a great time in Kauai. I've been there several times for both vacation and for work. (Yes, I know it's terrible to have a job where you have to go to Hawaii occassionally on business.) If you have time be sure to have a piece of Hula Pie at Duke's. After losing all of that weight, you deserve a splurge on vacation. It's right next to the Marriott Hotel in Lihue. Have a great time and enjoy your vacay!

third - I read something once that said that the time to stop going through fertility treatments is when continuing becomes harder than stopping. So if you know you would always regret not giving it another try, I think you are doing the right thing by moving forward with another cycle. I pray that this will be the time that is successful for you. I'm with you that if we go through another cycle, it will be our last one even if it doesn't work.

South - GL on the new protocol. I hope it makes the difference for you this time. I had three embies transferred last time and at least initially it resulted in one that stuck. I hope you'll have three great looking ones to put in there this time. Sometimes I feel like only other couples going through secondary infertility understand how hard it is. So many of our friends and relatives, who have kids around our son's age, have second children by now.

JP - I'm sorry about your last cycle not working and that you didn't get a good answer as to why. Unfortunately, I think sometimes there is just not a way to know.

Bella - I don't have any tats, but I think anything that helps you keep a positive focus during this difficult process is a great idea. GL to you on your cycle. I'm jealous that you are so close to being able to start.

AFM - We have been busy running various errands this weekend. Somehow it seems strange to go about our day to day activities as if I was never pregnant, but what else can you do? I don't know yet what my RE will have to suggest when we meet in two weeks. I do know that we have to change something after going through two almost identical cycles with the same outcome. She believes that the ultrasounds indicated that both babies stopped growing because of some type of problem with the fetus itself, not my ability to carry successfully to term. They did try to do testing after my first D&C, but the baby was too far gone to determine anything. We're hoping that this time the lab is able to complete the testing, which may give us more answers about what went wrong.

Hi Ladies,
I'm an oldie on the January Due Date thread (from a few years ago) but we are getting ready to start IVF #3 for our second IVF baby. Can I join you all here? I am excited to be with other experienced IVFers!!!

I've been on bcps since May (off and on according to RE's orders) to hopefully fend off a chronic cyst which I just had removed in Jan of this year. I start Lupron on July 6th and my suppression check is July 16th. If all looks quiet on the cyst front, I get to go ahead with stims. Retrieval will be sometime the end of July and transfer (we do day three) the first week in August. Getting nervous AND excited! Meds are here so now just counting down the days.

Sorry for the recent losses to you April/May gals. I can only imagine how difficult those must have been after all you went through.

Here's to lots of s coming up!!!

Hello Ladies!

I'd love to join you if you don't mind. I am embarking on my second IVF cycle after a failed cycle in March. We too are fortunate to have full insurance coverage but we are thinking about when to call it quits. I turn 41 in two weeks and DH just turned 52...at some point, we know we have to face that maybe this just isn't meant to be. I am praying that this is the magic cycle, if not, we might try one more time but that would be it for us either way. The funny thing is, we started trying last May and said we'd give it a year and see what happens...no heroics, just nature. Well, 2 m/c's later we felt like we had to pull out all the stops. The first m/c was the worst (and I would have been due this week). We had several weeks to really get excited and start planning. After the second m/c (which was really just a chemical) we decided to do IVF with PGD. We were terrified of another m/c or worse, a bad amnio result. Seems my AMA is making it hard for there to be a normal embryo. I switched REs after my first cycle and I am doing the EPP protocol in the hopes of having some healthy embies. I am already on Lupron and just took my last BCP but I don't start stimming until July 9th. It is nice to go through this with more experienced gals.

Good luck to everyone and baby dust to all!

Maggie - I hope your cyst is tiny Best of luck!

Justonemore - I know a few of us feel the same way but we won't need another cycle because this will be the one

Bella-- I don't have any tatoos, but I always wanted to get one on my ankle. One of my girlfriends is getting married and during her bridal tea we had a henna artist come and do henna tatoos. I got a really pretty ankelt dne that makes me want to get a tatoo even more. My mother in law saw it that night and flipped out thinking it was real LOL!!! My husband is Chinese, so his mother is very conservative. I think if I get one, it will be something small. I loved hearing the story behind all of your tatoos. They sound beautiful!

SouthhamptonS-- DH scooped out a whole bunch of the Royal Jelly and put it into a small tupperware container. Then we quadruple wrapped it in plastic and stuck it in the checked baggage. Hopefully it gets there without exploding LOL. Thanks for the tip! The lady at the Vitamin Shoppe had no idea what I was talking about so I just walked around aimlessly until I found the right section!

AFM-- I leave this afternoon on my trip. I'm going to sneak my laptop in my carry-on when DH isn't looking so I can catch up on you ladies a couple times during my trip. Shhhhhh. Don't tell ;-).

So I am totally driving myself crazy and I thought I would vent on here...I just had my 1st ivf cycle. 12 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized and by Day 3 we were only left with 4 embryos, 2 were 7 cell grade B and the other 2 remaining were not good enough quality to transfer. So if I have good eggs which I was told they were mature and DH has great sperm how could we have had such poor embryos and will that always be the case? I am extremely upset about this and hoping that my Dr can provider me some answers on Wed. Now I just fear that I will never have a good quality embryos and if ivf will ever work…

JP - I'm sorry you are stressed . I have had 5 IVF cycles and they have all been different. My quality has been different each time. You will get . Write down your concerns and talk to your RE and see if they can answer any of your questions. I will be honest with you as many times as I have been through this it is still nerve wracking. The time from ER to ET seems like forever. Are you doing or taking anything else? Such as Roya Jelly or Acupuncture. The only thing I have not tried was Royal Jelly and I am trying it this time. This will be our cycle I listen to ANJI IVF cd's they are helpful. Vent as much as you want. It's healthy!

Thanks Samantha. I hope you are right. That’s interesting that all of your cycles have been different, I hope the same is with me. I was told I had a great cycle but the more I am dwelling on it I am trying to dissect everything to find out what could have gone wrong. I was only on gonalf & lupron for stims and my Dr had me on a low dose since this was my first time taking hormonal medication. I am only taking multi vitamins well not I am taking the prenatal that my Dr prescribed. Any suggestions? I hope I can get some answers when I meet with my Dr until then it just feels like. I am thinking of starting acupuncture, I actually emailed the place tonight to get some information, website says they specialize in ivf! I defiantly don’t plan on ever giving up so hopefully I will one day experience success!

Good morning ladies.

I have two questions for you all that I thought I'd post for discussion:

1) To anyone with AMA (advanced maternal age) and/or past m/c, has your RE ever recommended trying donor eggs? I know using your own is of course the ideal, but was curious if anyone's RE had ever brought this up as an option to improve your chances for success.

2) What is the most annoying thing that someone's said to you about not having children (or not having a second child)? Here's mine, which I heard last week from a friend, who I know was trying to be supportive. She asked if we had considered adoption and I told her that adoption, like fertility treatments, is also a long and expensive process. So she offers the following opinion on adoption: "Adoption doesn't have to be a long process. My neighbor adopted a child from Russia. She told us that she was going there to adopt and then before we knew it she brought home a child. We couldn't believe how quick it all was." And I'm thinking that first of all, that has nothing to do with my husband and I wanting another biological child and second, I can tell that you have no idea what the actual process your neighbor went through was. Oh well, I know she meant well...

Ladies, ladies - Oh pooh, it's Monday! hehehe Oh well, not much we can do about them - they seem to keep coming every week... LOL

jdw - Dont be jelaous, you're time will come in no time - it'll be here before you know it and now you ladies will be here for me as I go through it - listening to me freak out from the meds/tests/procedures... <-- How do we do it - I do wonder that many times a day!

MaggieMay75 - Welcome - sounds like we'lll be very close in our schedules - I'll be starting Suprefact on the 10th and then a suppression check about a week - 10 days later.

JustOneMore - Welcome to you too - WOW, you're even closer to starting this process - how exciting for you! <-- You can lead the way - get a BFP and the rest of us will follow...

SouthhamptonS - Yeah - I count in sleeps - dont know why - people laugh at me all the time LOL

JP - thats what I've heard as well, that every cycle can have different results for eggs/embryos - I wish you luck with your Dr on Wednesday - do let us know what he says.

jdw - The most annoying thing anyone has said to me - seriously - you want me to limit it to just one thing? How bout a couple: Just yesterday and friend of mine (who took an entire 2 weeks to conceive twins - no kidding) was telling me that I just need to relax, it'll happen when I'm stress free as it took her Mom quitting her job and relaxing, then she got pregnant <-- OK, is that supposed to make me feel better - that it took her Mom a couple years? And, I'm sorry, but I was pretty relaxed the entire first year we were trying - why didnt it happen then!? Grrrr, I just smiled, bit my tongue and nodded my head. Or how about: 'Adopt, then you'll find out your pregnant' Or the best one yet 'If it's meant to be, it'll happen' <-- F'n Excuse me? Do you mean to say that the crack whore down the street was 'meant' to have abbies, and I wasn't? <-- See, my blood pressure is going up just thinking about those..... ignorant people.

Thats exactly why we join these groups and look for people how have been through it - cuz we know we wont stress eachother out with stupid comments!!

to all!!

hi,

i start my second ivf cycle with lupron on 7/13. we did an antgagonist cycle our first one. i stimmed for just 8 days which is leading the doc to believe we'll get better quality with ivf #2 and lupron.

i started bcp this past saturday. pre-lurpon ultrasound 7/9, then lupron 7/13.

Cagirl-I was also a part of June IVF, sorry we had to meet again this way. Hopefull next time will be on a forum. Thats great that you are starting another cycle!!!
How long before you got your period after stopping the progesterone?
Today I was able to stop the vaginal supplements which was sooo nice, even though they were only 3x a day I swear it felt more like 10x a day I had to do them.
I am still tort to take one month off or not too...I am worried about going into another cycle and if its not successful blaming myself for not taking a break. Just cant win!
