3rdtime - We're both PUPO today - how exciting. Last count, we had 10 embryos..... hope there's at least that many, if not more, when we go in in just 2 hours!!! Soooo excited... my babies are coming home.....

Good afternoon...it feels like morning since I didn't sleep much. Well, I can say that my embies were a little better than before in that we didn't have any grade 5s...just 6 grade 3 and 3 grade 4. We tranferred 3 embies (1x8 cells-5% frag, 1x7 cell-0% frag, and 1x7 cell-10% frag). I don't know why I can't seem to make anything beter than a 3, but I'm ok with it for now. I just someone sticks. For now I am PUPO with triplets!! I'm waiting OHSS to rear her head and tell me we made it since my E2 was so high. I'll find out next week if I got any snowbabies out of the 3 remaining grade 3s.

So.. I am a firm believer in waiting a while before telling too many people about being ...especially since IVF is so touch and go. Well...dh's mother has told everyone and then some about my . I have been getting phone calls from cousins, aunts, and friends. I am not happy about this. I understand that this is their first grandchild, but it makes me very uncomfortable. I have told her numerous times that we only wanted immediate family to know meaning (parents and siblings) and then once we make it through the first month we can tell other family members. I am feeling all this pressure now and god forbid if something goes wrong, it will be devastating having to tell all these people. Did this happen to any of you guys? How do I handle this without being mean to dh's mother? I assumed she would have know better, but I guess not. I feel so jinxed now!!! Da*mn it!!!

3rdtime- Congrats on being PUPO with . Hopefully those little embies are snuggling down good for a long rest....9 months that is. Do you have any cramping.

OMG!!! Congratulations!! I was wondering when you had your FET and am glad to see that not only did you have your FET but you are !!!!!!

I go in for BETA tomorrow. I did my FET last month and have actually been POAS-faint positives. I this is it too! Congratulations again.

Oh...and I am sorry about DH's mom spreading the news. I say just relish in the fact that you are pregnant and embrace it!!!! Think it won't even come to that. And if it does, hey, let her make the calls.

Mouse, sorry about the parents blabbing. With my DD we didn't tell ANYONE, not even parents until I was 3 months b/c we wanted to keep it a secret. Since you didn't go spreading the word, I believe you are free of the jinx! Go easy on parents and inlaws, they are just so excited which is cute. I have seen it happen many times on these boards. Getting info early is a priveledge. When you have your next set of kids, you may want to keep the secret a little longer knowing that they will blab!

AFM, I am feeling less down today. I haven't yet spoken to my own RE yet but I did speak to Dr. Braverman (SIRM LI) this morning. I had spoken to him several months ago in a phone consult and I was really impressed with him but he is too far away for me to cycle with. He referred me to my current RE. At the time, he was part of SIRM but as of the end of July, his practice is back on his own. Anyway, after my ER, he emailed me out of the blue to see how I was doing (seriously, how many RE's would do that?). I emailed him this morning to tell him the cycle failed and I feel like I am running out of options. He emailed me right back (like 60 seconds later) with a phone number and offered to speak with me if I'd like. What a guy, no?

We spoke for about 40 minutes and he said that he has seen this before - women over 40 who make a lot of eggs tend to make poor quality ones. (The fact that I had 25 embryos all grade 3 (on a scale of 1 - 3) was what was most disturbing to him. So the trick for me will be to try and make much less eggs. He advised me to do what's called a step down cycle. Skip the BCPs and Lupron and start on natural cycle day 2 and alternate between 225 iu of FSH with 150 iu every other day. This tends to recruite the best follicles and not all of the follicles. I will get much less eggs but they should be better quality. He also advised me to skip the PGD. He said his success rates are much higher when he doesn't do testing, he just puts the best looking ones back in on day 3. He is sure that mosaicism plays a role and embies that test abnormal will actually make healthy babies - which I have heard before.

I am so glad I spoke to him, I just love the way he explains everything and I really like having a plan. I am curious to see what my own Dr. recommends and compare notes between these two great doctors.

My insurance is going to make me do a Chlomid Challenge test before they will pay for another cycle so I am thinking that I will ask my RE to actually do an IUI with the CCT cycle which I imagine I can do in about 30 days. AF showed up this morning (with a vengence) so I am at least glad that I didn't have to wait long for her to show up. Dr. Braverman agreed that that was a good idea and who knows? Maybe that will work and I don't have to put my body through IVF and all the drugs again. It really is quite the ordeal when you think about it...especially with my OHSS.

So, what I can I say but 'onward'. It is so disappointing when this fails. We try and remain so optimistic and even visualize success so that if there is a BFN, it tends to hit really hard. At least that is how I feel. I know G-d has a plan for me and I just hope it includes another baby. Given that I just lost my job (not sure I mentioned that one, but I am out as of the end of August) and I am in the final stages of landing a new one (that I believe I told you all about, final interview with Pres of company on Monday!), it might not have been great timing to actually start off preggers on the very first day but I would have done so gladly given the opportunity!

Now, I just need to focus on shedding the 10 lbs I have gained since starting this cycle so I am in tip top shape for my IUI and can start off my pregnancy feeling really good. You all remain in my hearts. Talk to you soon.

AFM: I had my Day 8 stims check, my Dr did it which was soooo much better then having an ultrasound technician. He was very detailed about everything he saw which was nice for a change. I had approx 10 follies on one ovary and around 15 on the other! He feels that I am responding really well. He said my E2 level went from 500 yesterday to over 1000 today and he decreased mo gonalf dose from 187.50 to 150u. It’s so weird to me, last cycle I was on 150u to start for 4 days then on 187.50 for the rest, its like I am responding too well this time but last cycle i started slow then again responded too well. He didn’t say that I am responding too well so I am just reading into it way too much. He said everything looked beautiful except he could see my blocked tube and potentially some fluid going in it. If its hydo fluid it’s poisonous to the embryos. He feels that if the cycle is not successful it’s in my best interest to have a LAP done and remove the bad tube....
Hopefully it wont come down to that, but that’s plan B for me.

mouse, that stinks that your MIL has told so many people. that would make me uncomfortable as well. I would relish in the fact that you had a first great beta, will have a second great beta tomorrow and you'll have nothing to worry about.

jom-did you have any recurrant loss bloodwork done? My RE also says my issue is probably poor quality eggs and he is not thinking anything will show up on recurrant loss testing, but hopefully it will just rule things out. I keep thinking that me and DH have not used protection for years, so have my eggs been bad all along? maybe something will show on these tests. Hopefully it is minor though and just reguires baby aspirin. How ironic if it turns out to be that simple...what center is SIRM LI? This Dr. Braveman sounds amazing, you are so lucky you have him to consult with. sorry to hear about your job, but good luck on final interview. the disappointments of IVF do totally suck. I do try to stay positive but each time I fail, it is harder to stay positive for the next cycle.
jp-those are great numbers!!!is there anything that can be done now to prevent the fluid from going into the blocked tube? I'm not familiar with this so sorry if it is a dumb question.

I have decided to also stick it out with my Dr since he seems to know my situation and he is supposed to be good.
There is nothing that can be done about the tube either clean it or remove it. My Dr is worred about cleaning it and insurance not covering IVF if I have i then have 2 fully functioning tubes. But might be best to just remove it, depending on how damaged it is...Unfortunate part if there is no way to find out what caosed the blockage, i had a kidney stone a few yrs ago and had an infection as a result of it and then i had a miscariage last yr so i am convinced its one or the other.

south-not sure what cycle plan is. got and now it is over, doing blood test next week and then i guess it takes 2 weeks for results. I'd like to start everything after my next . So for me that is 2 -3 weeks of BCP and then 1 week before I stop bcp I start lupron and then wait for AF and usually start stims on like cycle day 3 or 4. my beta on fri was down to 2 so I think I'll get 1st week of sept so I think I'd probably start stims 1st week of oct? who knows though. this last cycle started 3 weeks earlier than I thought it would because came early. I'm going to try OPK though and attack my husband when I see the pink line. LOL. I'm never real good with opk b/c the line never seems to be darker so if anyone has any opk suggestions as to specific brand or when to pee (1st morning urine? 2nd morning urine?) I'd love them. maybe I'll be the success story who gets a on her own after 2 failed cycles

Justone - I used the OPK and always used FMU. I will try them again. I love to hear those stories hopefully we can start a thread I am hoping to do and IUI and then it will be the OPK road till possibly DEC/JAN. I need to get my act together. DH promised that if this cycle was a then we could tell our family what we are going through . It has been so tough not having anyone know. When is DH back?

I'm here. I've just been crazy busy. we are in the middle of a complete backyard demo and remodel. Today I had to go to the rockery twice because the contractors misunderstood the kind of brick I wanted to outline the slate patio. Grrrrrrr. Then we had to go to the pond supply store to get the pond liner and pond lighting. And now I have to drive out to Palo Alto to buy more progesterone before they close and then dinner with my husband's best friend. I am exhausted! I wish I could curl up under the covers and not get out of bed until tomorrow. *sigh*

JOM- After reading your post, I am so confident this RE is the right one for you. I have never heard of a step down approach, little alone a doctor that spends that much time on a Saturday to talk to his patients. You're not currently his patient right? It makes complete sense to me. If you have an issue with the quality not quantity, then a slower cycle with more careful attention at picking the right follies, sounds much better for you. It's also easier not having to mess with the bcp or lupron. I didn't do lupron or bcp in my first cycle and it went very good for me. You sound like you are back on track and ready to go. When will you start your next cycle. I am so excited for you!!

2Lines- YOu sound like you need a day of rest and relaxtion. I was crazy like that with that dumb bbq I had 2 days before my transfer. HOpefully tomorrow you'll be able to take it easy. I had to order more progesterone too. Mine was delivered this morning. Is your pharmacy close?
