Cool Going on 2nd transfer in Aug

Bella2 I have similar story to yours too. My husband and I just found out today that our 1st IVF attempt did not stick. We did get 13 eggs out of retrieval 9 fertilized and 6 made it to day 5 blastocyst. I chose to do a fresh transfer which they did 2 and froze the rest of the 4 eggs. My doc advised me I had an almost 20% decreased chance of a fresh transfer than frozen (50% versus 69.8% ) for my age group 30-35, I am only 30 years old. I have mild fertility problems which is the fact I have low ovarian reserve however, my egg quality seems to be excellent. I was really bummed today to get that call. So, I am going to do a frozen transfer in Aug. it seems that is the way to go and my body has a chance to have a period and refresh itself after all these meds.
After all I am reading, it seems that a lot more women have success on the 2nd try?? How long did you stay on bedrest? I did about 4 solid days, but I am thinking I should of stayed put for 9??

I finally got in touch with the clinic and I have a schedule!!! It's always so much easier to prepare yourself for all of this once you have a timeline. I'll go for my baseline on the 21st (that means I have a few more weeks of those awful BCPs that turn me into Dr. Jekyll)...they are estimating ER on 5 Aug (so it will probably be the 6th) and a 3dt on the 8th (so I'm planning for the 9th). I usually end up stimming a little longer...but who knows, since they are upping my doses this time (all the nurse said was more Menopur, but that the docs would discuss that with me at the baseline).

Now I am more at peace and I can focus on enjoying my 4th of July weekend with DH. We are going into NYC tomorrow, so that should be fun (but crowded).

ajobzn: ...sorry that your first try did not work out. They say that a FET can lead to success because your body is not put through as much stress...I know that I preferred my FET cycle because it was easier (although it would have been even more preferable if it worked). As far as bedrest goes, my clinic says to do it the day of ET...I have been doing the day of ET and the following day and then taking it easy for the remainder of the 2ww; they believe that some moving around it good for you...though it hasn't worked thus far. GL with your cycle. I am that we all get our BFPs this time around!!!

JustOneMore - Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time - especially with the d@mn weight gain <-- nothing worse than going through all this AND getting fat - nothing like getting kicked while you're down - d@mn drugs! Make sure you're drinking plenty of water - even slightly dehydrated, and it'll slow your metabolism down. By the time you feel thirsty, it's too late, you're dehydrated!!

ajobzn - Soooo sorry you got that call - the worst call ever!! You'd think they'd come up with a better way of telling us!? I find there's nothing worse than hearing a stranger on the other end of a phone, tell you that after all you just went through, it didn't work. In fact, since I was the one who called for our IUI's, I told my DH I just couldn't do it again, and made him answer the phone for our IVF - I just couldn't stand hearing it again.... not that it was any easier when he answered the phone.... but... you know!? I'm not sure how they could make it better for us - Oh wait, I know, to NEVER have to get that call - to have IVF work each n every time - then I'd be more than willing to take that call!! hehehe
I'm hoping you're right and everyone seems tohave it work on the 2nd go around, as this is our 2nd - go embabies go!!
As for bedrest, I went home after my ET and stayed on the couch, only getting up to pee. The next day I was pretty lazy - I got up once or twice, to pee or check my email. The 3rd day, I rested most of the day, til late afternoon, then went and did some shopping and me and my DH took my daughter driving<-- I have a 16 year old daughter from a previous relationship (had her when I was 17) and havent been pregnant since. But this time around, I think I might rest a bit more - but for no longer than 3 days - even that and I was bored silly and hating laying down - that, and I hear it's good to get up and walk around - get some blood moving.

3rdtimesthecharm - YAY - you have your schedule - soo jealous of you right now! hehehe I'm hoping to have mine within the next week - and if I had to guess - I'll be about the same as you, as I start the Suprefact on the 10th (for about a week-10 days) then I'll start stimming shortly after that. Ohhhh exciting/terrifying/nerve wracking/thrilling!!

Does anyone know how to do up a chart in here? I'd love to see one - one that has: our names, our ages, which # IVF this is and our approximate schedules on it..... kinda keep track of everyone!?

Well, I guess I should head to work now - man, cant wait for the day I get to go on mat leave!

Happy Friday everyone!

Hooray on getting your schedule! I really like to see it in black and white...makes the whole thing seem much more real, doesn't it? Have fun in NYC, that is where I am from. If you have some time, check out the Bodies exhibit downtown. Have you heard of it? It is an exhibit of actual bodies -- I went a few months ago. I thought I would be freaked out but it just felt like they were statues. It was so amazing to see the insides of our bodies and the networks of our circulatory and muscular systems but the most incredible part was a whole room devoted to women and reproduction. I had no idea how tiny our ovaries are and seeing them in a body was so wild. You can also see fetuses at every stage of development. I have seen sonograms before but seeing them in real life, what they look like, will just blow your mind. This may sound really gross to some but I was amazed to see it. Now when my IVF is successful, I will know exactly what is happening in my womb. (Ahhhhh. I can't wait!!)

Have a great vaca!!

Hmmmm, good one - I might wanna wait to add my name to that list, as I'm .... not sure where I belong!? For now I guess I can put myself at the BCP stage, even though I'm not on them!? In 6 sleeps I can put myself under the 'lupron' stage... oh well, for now, I'm under the BCP heading... LOL
Can I also put my name under 'Neeeds a hug'? <-- I found out yesterday that a girl I work with had random drunk sex, got pregnant and then went on to kill it...... Hard to take when you yourslf are working so hard for that very same thing that she threw away.... by the time this 2nd IVF works for my DH and I - we've then spent a MINIMUM of $20,000 trying to get pregnant.... boo for a$$holes who use abortions as a form of BC!!

Anyways, now that I've vented, I'll say - HAPPY Saturday to all!!!

Shawna, that def deserves a hug. I am sure each of us have had our share of idiot-dealing. After my second m/c, one of closest friends said "maybe it just wasn't meant to be" and suggested we give up and close up shop. The pursuit of baby is hard enough but sometimes the insensitivities of others or the its-just-not-fair-you-got-knocked-up-by-accident folks just push us to the limit.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies,

Hope I can join your thread. We are just recovering from our first (failed) IVF and are rolling right into another cycle. Got the on June 24th. We met with our dr. last Weds. and he encouraged us to start right up again, so that is what we are going with. I will be on the same meds so not much will change this cycle, except I am going to throw in acupuncture this time. I hope at the very least it helps with the stress level. I am afraid to get too excited or feel too positive this time around, although I am trying. I am currently back on the bcp's and will get my schedule on the 8th - woohoo!

Hope you all have a happy 4th of July!!

Deb- my Dr also recommended I go into another cycle as long as I feel ready which had made me nervious since I keep on reading on here how Dr's recommend a few months off between cycles, maybe it depends on the individual's condition, but here i am starting another cycle. So excited but yet so scared at the same time!!! I am also starting acupuncture this week, I hope it helps.

Hi Ladies! So not sure if anyone on here has tubal issues but wanted to get your opinions on my situation. I had an HSG in April showed one blocked tube and another one potentially blocked. I have been told my Dr and the Dr at the IVF place that my tube wasn’t horribly blocked and the blockage was far from the uterus so might not affect IVF cycle. My Dr cant tell if I have fluid or not, he says it looks like adhesions/scar tissue but not 100% sure. I haven’t had a LAP done. So basically the thing is I cant seem to get a straight answer from him if I need a LAP or not, he says its up to me, he also is supportive that i try another 1-2 cycles then have a LAP done and remove tubes if fluid filled. DH seems to thing my tubes must not be as bad which is why Dr is not pushing I have a LAP done but if i want to he will do surgery right away. DH swears Dr's like surgery make good $$$ and my Dr always says he loves to do surgery. So i am basically tort. I really like my Dr, he is very straight forward, he basically felt that it can take a few cycles and that’s that...Everything else is fine with me and DH. I rather not have the surgery done if I don’t have to so basically tort on what to do since my Dr is not for or against the surgery...Praying that this cycle works and I never have to think about it again….
