thanks gals for the BCP info.. if we actually go through the oct/nov cycle then I will have my trial transfer on 10/05 and my expected AF is around 10/06-08 so I'll start BCP sometime around all of that time.. unless by some great miracle this round of naturally trying does the trick.. not holding my breath.
I am in Oklahoma and I was referred to my RE by my OB/GYN... I just got some info from another girl on this site about another doctor where I live with a higher success rate so I am going to discus that with my DH tonight and we may have to wait longer if we chose to go to another clinic.

I hope we all get our dreams and get quickly

ivf possible newbee

Hi all, my name is annie. i have stage 3 endometriosis. i had a lap on Jan09. i have been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years naturally with no success. i recently did iui with femara. i take my pregnancy test on monday. if this doesnt work, i will move on to ivf. i was wondering, can anyone tell me how long u have to be on birth control. is it that you take birth control and hormone pills at the same time. this is a little confusing for me.

my doctor visit and a new dr.

ANNIEBaby....I always took bcp for a month before IVF and a few days before it finished I started Lupron then 3 days later stop bcp and then you do the other hormone shots. Good luck with your pregnancy test!

So I went to my appointment with my RE on Tuesday. He had no idea what to do with us because of our history of bad embryo quality he recommended OVARIAN DRILLING. He doesnt know if it helps but he thinks I should do it. It totally freaked me out. He doesn;t know what the problem is but he wants me to go through a surgery like this?!? for what?
I also had my free consultation with Dr. Sher from Las Vegas. He read through all my medical records before he called and he told me that my current Dr. using wrong drugs on me. Due to my PCOS and my Hashimoto dieases I need a special protocol not a "one size fits all" approach and I DO NOT NEED SURGERY! So I am going to Vegas baby on oct. 27 and do my next hopefully my succesful cycle with him. I will be on vacation and doing IVF at the same time !

gypsy - glad you don't need surgery, how great to be in Vegas for mixing vacation & IVF! GL!!!

how is everyone doing? We are getting close to November...I start BCP tomorrow and we are scheduled for ET on 11/10, my brother's bday. I'm also off work 11/11 so I'll have 2 solid days of doing nothing. For my IVF, I rested the day of ET,but went to work the next day. This time I'll try taking it easy. I'm nervous but excited. DH is way more excited this time, so that makes me feel better.

Take care everyone!!

anniebaby~not everyone goes on BCP before ivf.

Hello everyone i am going to join you i think...i had a cancelled cycle in August/September. I am the one in the relationship that is NOT supposed to have issues getting pg but for some reason i only produced two eggs both on the Right side So we are trying flare protocol this time and with this my dose of follistim will be double the last time...a little nervous b/c the hot flashes were bad last time can't imagine what it will be like this time.
A little background although most of this can be seen in my signature. DH just turned 30, and was diagnosed with NOA(non obstructive azoospermia) in april of 2009, then we had a biopsy and mTese on June 18th, that day i was told there was some sperm found, not much but some when the results were shared with us the next week, none of the sperm had survived thaw(so we would have to complete a fresh cycle) and we were told that DH has Testicular Cancer. NOT what we were expecting, all tests ahead of time showed no concerns. So now we are fighting a time battle we have been given the go ahead to just monitor DH and attempt IVF, we have been given this chance for only as long as the cancer does not change, we must stop if anything changes so the cancelled cycle really feels like a giant loss for me, what if i don't get another chance?!?!
Sorry that was a long post! Can't wait to get to know you all!

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through! As you can see in my signature my husband had testicular cancer 5 years ago. It must be really hard for you guys right now, I just want you both to know that you are in my prayers.
Have you considered going to dr. Einhorn in Indiana? He is the one who found the cure for it, he treated Lance Armstrong and also my husband.
Good luck to you!

Well DH and I decided to wait for the Christmas cycle so to speak which is NOV/DEC so I am not sure which board I should be on.. We have a change in Insurance at the beginning of 2010 so we are waiting to see if the new insurance will cover more of the procedures and meds as opposed to what our current insurance covers (only meds) ... we would have done the OCT/NOV cycle but we don't find out what the new insurance covers until October 15th and my cycle would have started on October 12th.. it stinks but oh well, we have to do what we have to do. We are trying naturally this cycle and any other cycles that lead up to IVF...
I wish you all the greatest of luck on getting your ...

Hi!

I had accidentally started a new thread as well as this must have been buried in all of the IVF stuff and I just saw it pop up. Sorry! Anyways, I am happy to join you. This is my first cycle of IVF but I am no stranger to IVF with friends, etc.. or IF in general. December will be our 4 year anniversary of TTC so I am hoping to have a before then!

Here is what I wrote on my other thread
"Hello! Not too early I hope for this, but I am planning to start (for the first time) IVF! I am pretty sure AF is about to start & my doc wants me on bcp in Oct, so Nov it is! I feel hopeful and not as bummed as usual about AF. But then again there is the lingering fear what if this doesn't work? Today is a bloodwork day to check for a few things and it's sad but I am excited to start this new journey! I guess because I've seen it work and due to the odds. Anyways, DEFINITELY looking for buddies through this"

I just got a call from the nurse and my bcp were called in. Now all I need to do is schedule a mock transfer and I am as started as I can be.

Wow, there's quite a group going already for November, welcome all the newbies! Is anyone else sick of the bcp yet?! I sure am! I'm so sick of being so darn crabby all the time. Atleast I only have 11 or 12 more to go.

Hi ShellyO! I am not actually taking the bcp yet, but I get to pick my prescription up and starting taking them Day 3. I still have to make sure arrives this cycle, but I think she is on the way. So I am sure I will be on the bcp by Sat. I am dreading the bcp because I have always had problems with them in the past- I get really moody and down. At least I know it's not permanent this time, but I will need to take them 5 weeks or so due to a vacation right before we start.

Jessica- 5 weeks of bcp! yuck. I've never had problems while on them in the past but it seems like the type they prescribe for ivf are super powerful, at least for me. I turn crazy..seriously.
Panera, welcome! You're on number 4 too.. I thought I'd be the only one. Actually, it's my 5th transfer but 4th aspiration. Is your RE changing anything for your protocol this time??

Hi Ladies! I am new here, and getting ready to start my first IVF (with ICSI). As soon as AF comes (this week) I will be starting BCP's. I am very excited to have found this forum to share stories and ask questions of others going through this process! I've had such a hard time focusing at work as we get closer to starting the process. We've been TTC for close to 4 years and I am so ready for this! My DH has low everything so we are going straight to ICSI IVF. Good Luck to Everyone!
