Hi everyone. Is it too late for me to join this group? My husband and I were suppossed to do our 1st IVF in September, but my body didn't react right to the dose of Lupron I was on, so instead of lots of eggs or follicles or whatever they are called we only had 3. Since this is pretty much the only cycle of fresh IVF we could afford we decided to do IUI and if it was negative, try again in November. I just found out today my blood test came back negative, so I am starting BCP today. Is it weird they had me start without getting AF? They say I will bleed with the Norethindrone I will take.

Anyway, it looks like I will be doing the ER around 11/12-14. I'm not looking forward to all the shots again, but I did get pretty good at giving them to myself so hopefully this time is easier.

I'm looking forward to knowing people that will be going through similar things!

If this group is still open I would love to join as well. I'm a professional at miscarriage (when I managed to get pg on my own, that is) so after 4 disappointing IUIs we moved on to IVF in 2008. I'm actually more afraid this time because I feel I got lucky the first time and am pushing that luck heading into a second cycle. I'm also questioning my RE's protocol for me because while he has me on bcp he does not have me do Lupron which is what I seem to find everyone else is on. I am a high responder so maybe that is why? I stimmed so fast last time (went from e2 of 42 to over 300 in just over 48 hours) and think that affected my egg/embryo quality, although of course I can't be certain of that. Today I started bcp and have a raging headache, feel like a royal witch. I wish I could have just gone straight to stims and bypassed this bcp stuff.

Hello Friends-I-Haven't-Yet-Met!

Any chance you'll take another?? As you can see below, I tried for a September IVF, but was overstimulated and cancelled. Now I'm back with a vengeance! Just started BCPs on Sept. 30th, and tentative ER and ET dates are Nov. 11th and Nov. 16th. I'm that they get my meds right this time! Last time I was on Follistim and Menopur. I received my calendar in the mail and it looks like they are keeping everything the same except adding Femara. I'm guessing that is to keep my estrogen under control? If anyone has any experience with Femara, I'd love to hear about it! I wouldn't call myself exactly a newbie - I decided to graduate myself to preteen since I made it through stims

I'm still following my September forum friends as well, and boy have they been a blessing. Laughing and crying with a group of wonderful women has been instrumental in getting through this IF journey. I'm sure the same will hold true with the magnificent group that's forming here! I'm excited to get to know all of you!

TakingChances: would you mind sharing what your protocol was w/IVF#1 and how quickly you stimmed? I'm trying to prepare myself for the meeting w/my RE on the 15th and hoping to convince him I stimmed too fast so he can proceed a bit more cautiously this next time. Thanks!

Hi kpb8 - I don't mind sharing at all! Anything that might help someone! I was on BCPs for two months (dates below). Then started stims on 9/6:
Day 1: 2 Menopur, 150 Follistim
Day 2: 2 Menopur, 150 Follistim
Day 3: 2 Menopur, 150 Follistim
Day 4: morning b/w = 452 estrogen, and follies already 11-15mm; 2 Menopur, 75 Follistim
Day 5: 2 Menopur, 75 Follistim, 1 Ganirelix
Day 6: morning u/s shows that at least 5 follies on left are already 18-20mm

Based on follie size, they said I needed to trigger that night, but that if they proceded with ER, I would likely only have 6 eggs and they may not be mature. They thought they could get much better results out of me, and advised not to do ER. Given DH's severe morphology issues, they thought IUI was worthless. We just tried the old fashioned way that cycle. And despite trying to advise the swimmers to travel left ("To the left!! To the left!"), no luck with a miracle baby.

So....flash forward to this week when I receive my November meds calendar in the mail. I wanted to scream when I saw the same dosages. I'm a very tiny person, and we had been concerned before the last cycle that I might be taking one-size-fits-all dosages. BUT, they did add the Femara, and doc mentioned when I was cancelled that they could add a drug to try to keep me under control (just didn't know it was Femara at the time).

Does that help? I saw in your signature that you stimmed fast in your cycle too. Looks like it paid off though!!! Was your first cycle similar to what I described? Were they worried your eggs would be immature because you stimmed so fast?

Thanks for sharing that. Wow, you stimmed super fast! Did they test your e2 before starting stims? Does Menopur act like Lupron to prevent ovulation? My RE didn't have me on Lupron because he said since I would be a high responder, putting me on Lupron might hyperstim me. However he began me on 300 Gonal-F which I knew was way too high. Nothing was ever said about my eggs not being mature enough but I feel that the fast stim may have contributed to the results. Part me of feels I shouldn't rock the boat since the IVF worked yet at the same time hindsight shows me what could have been done differently.

I would love to join you as well. I am gearing up for my first IVF with Er/ET the middle of November. I am 27 with tubal issues and borderline high FSH. My dh is 31 with no issues, thank god!! This is all new to me and am learning so much right now. Any tips for first timers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ladies-
I hope you don't mind if I join your thread. I was mentally prepared to start IVF after my 3rd IUI just failed, but it looks like we are going to do #4 this month. There is a grant we can apply for for the IVF and we have to submit at least 6 weeks before we start a cycle. I'm sending the application in while doing IUI #4, so we should be ready to initiate a cycle of IVF mid-end of November. Hopefully we won't have to!!!

I hope that by joining here, I can get some good information before starting the cycle.

Jess...it does sound like we will be on the same schedule. Im scheduled to start Lupron on 10/21.

The pharmacy called today and gave me a list of the RX the RE called in....

Yes, I am going to SIRM in Las Vegas (Dr. Sher).
Don't worry about traveling with medication and syringes, you just need a letter from you doctor that you need to take those with you and that's it, I called TSA, they are not on the forbidden items list.

Quick question: is everyone having the HSG done or are some only having a sonohyst? I've been reading that some REs are no longer doing the dye test which would thrill me if I can get out of it!

Hi guys! I am too doing my 3rd IVF cycle starting in November. My ER is early December though so I hope I can be in this group..

We are resting this month until my next period which should be October 27th when I start BCP, and meds.

My first IVF they canceled my transfer because all my eggs were mmature, they tried to mature them and 1 did and got fertlized but the cells didn't divide. 2nd IVF 2 out of 6 eggs were mature, they tried to mature the rest and were able to mature 2 the fertilized 3 and transfered 3 embryos, they were 3dt and moderately fregmented, BFN.

My RE suggested donor eggs since my past IVFs I have been a poor responder, but we want to exhauste all possibilities using my eggs. My protocol changed to the Estrogen Priming Protocol, not sure how this one works..

I really hope 3rd time's the charm!
