Eileen- did you transfer 3 blasts? This is our last try and my husband and I are going back and forth between 2-3 to transfer. Just curious if they were 3 day or 5 day transfers......

We transferred 3 back. The reason because my RE suggested it because he thought 1 would not make it...it was a 4 celled embryo. I think even if it was a higher celled embryo, I still would have transferred all 3. We figured we could make up for some lost time on all the TTC!!! Personal decision for everyone. I wish you lots and lots of !!!Eileen ![]() |

[quote=rachelannsauer]Missy- Good luck on your first round! I hope and pray it's your one and only! I had hot flashes really bad back in the day with Clomid but so far with these shots, I've been lucky to avoid those. [font=Tahoma][size=2]Are you giving yourself the shots or is your husband giving them to you? I do my own subcutaneous shots but the Intramuscular I have my husband do, I haven't gotten up the courage to try those on my own yet.
Yep, I've been doing ok giving myself the Lupron/Stim shots in the tummy. I'm definitely going to have the dh do the progesterone shots, I'm pretty sure I can't bring myself to do it! I had hot flashes on Lupron but I have been getting headaches. I go in tomorrow and Friday and for bw/us and I'm hoping everything is moving along! This process seems to take so long!

Update
Hi ladies!
So much happens in a few days! I've been working a lot this week and haven't had a chance to check in. missy: how are you doing on your stims? Good for you that you are doing the shots yourself. I only had to do one shot myself (my husband coudn't make it home in time) I freaked myself out so much, and once I gave myself the shot it was so simple, I was standing in the bathroom laughing at myself for being such a wimp. Any side effects so far? I agree with you. This is taking forever!! Let us know how your u/s goes today! Eileen: Looks like its getting closer to stim time for you too. I'm glad to hear that you are finding this cycle less stressful. I'm not in that boat yet. I'm pretty stressed, but I think its all the unknowns. Being on this board and hearing from other, experienced people like you is definitely helpful! Taylor and Janet: Welcome! How are you doing with stims? Rachel: How did today's u/s go? Glad to hear your RE is watching closely. What were your first signs of OHSS? What should we be on the lookout for? AFM: Well, today is stim day #5. My bloodwork from yesterday came back at 430. My nurse said that was good, but a little high so she lowered my gonal-f dose to 37.5 but I'm continuing the menopur and lupron at the same levels. Tomorrow I have u/s and b/w, so I'm excited to see what's going on. Just wondering for those of you that are ahead of me or have been through this before: What's "normal" for stim day #5? I'm definitely feeling bloated and a tired. I'm not sure if I'm just overly sensitive, bc I've always had such mild periods my whole life that the idea of "cramps" are a little foreign to me, but I'm just feeling uncomfortable. It's like a dull "ache" throughout my abdomen and it seems like there are periodic "twinges." Bending down and moving around at work today was definitely noticably sensitive. Trying not to be overly neurotic, but I'm a little worried. Any advice? ![]() Thanks, Lisa Good luck to all in the next few days. Keep us updated!!

Hey Lisa……Thanks for the update. Your office is being very conservative, I think the chances of you developing OHSS are very low. I’ve read that most RE’s look to your E2 levels to be around 600-800 on day 6 of stims. I think you’re right on track. Mine rise very quickly, my RE told me yesterday that if they don’t call to stay at 75Foll/75meno/5lupron. They didn’t call so when I go back tomorrow I’m going to ask what my E2 level was on Wednesday. That would have been 5 days after I started stimming. I’ll let you know- just so you have something to compare it to. My E2’s have a tendancy to rise very quickly. I definitely have the twinges and cramps like you. This may be TMI but I can already tell that I have a lot of action in my ovaries b/c when I pee I can feel them moving. If you don’t know what I mean, you will soon enough, it’s a strange feeling. My tummy is swollen and I’m in all my “fat” pants now. Lol…..
Have you had an ultrasound yet? I have about 8-10 follies on the right and 6-8 on the left. I’m just hoping for less than 21 eggs retrieved. In regards to the OHSS- I never felt symptoms until after ER. I think that is normal. (besides feeling bloated but everyone OHSS or not feels bloated). The first indication could be your E2 levels- if they are really high that can be a good indicator that you may develop it. However, it doesn’t happen to everyone with high E2. My first round back in 11/08, I felt very bloated and swollen in my lower abdomen. The morning I was supposed to transfer 5 days post retrieval, I was violently throwing up to the point I couldn’t stop. I went in to the RE, and they decided not to transfer and freeze. I had to get fluids in my system via IV and anti-nausea medication so I could stop throwing up. NOT FUN! We retirieved 24 Eggs the first time. The 2nd time I was still very bloated but I loaded up on protein and Gatorade and stated in bed all 5 days prior to transfer, if I wouldn’t have done that, I have no doubt I would have gotten sick again and would have had to freeze. For all the ladies: Are you planning on taking any time off work in between the retrieval and transfer? My RE is very strict and requires at least 5 days of best rest after the transfer. I’m pretty much in bed from the ER-5 days post ET. AFM- So far so good. Some updates are above. Go back to RE tomorrow and every day until retrieval. I wish these days at work would speed up. I have too much on my mind and the days are crawling by! I hope everyone is hanging in there!

Hi there! OK if I join this thread? The Oct IVF thread is super long, and I gave up trying to get caught up with everyone's posts. This is my 2nd round with stims...the first time we planned for IVF, but was tranferred to IUI due to slow response. IUI didn't work - we didn't think it would b/c of my endo, but we also didn't want to not do anything and waste the meds (they are not cheap!).
I started Gonal-f at 375 and Menopur at 75 on 9/21. I have an u/s and b/w tomorrow morning, and ER tentatively scheduled for 10/3. I also start Ganirelix tomorrow, which I did not take the first time. Anyone know of any side effects I should expect? Our 7 month old puppy just got neutered today and he's walking around all lethargic and groggy. Let's hope these new meds don't give me any weird side effects, otherwise my husband is in for a LONG weekend! Good luck to all! ~Lynn

Hello ladies. Was just wondering if I can join in with you guys. This is going to be my first IVF so im so excited. Just a little about me, Ive been married for 3yrs and we've been ttc for 2yrs. I did 4 iuis. We conceived with the 3rd one but I fell down the stairs at 6 weeks and miscarried. This has been a tough ride for me and I'm praying my stop is coming soon. Goodluck to all you ladies who are on this rollercaoster of ttc. I have another appt. tomorrow to check my follies. So just a quick question. What should my E2 be in the range on cd8. I never really asked these questions but I think I'm going to ask because my re called me and lowered my dose when I got home from my last appt. So I'm currious as to why he did that. Any suggestions.

Hi Lynn! I agree with you, the October board is tough. I try and stay in there, but it seems like there are just so many people that it gets overwhelming. Let us know how your ultrasound went. I am taking the Menopur and Gonal-f, but not the Ganirelix, so I don't know of any side effects for it. Sorry. How are you doing on the menopur and gonal-f? I'll be so happy when I get to stop the menopur. I may be a baby, but it stings and I hate it!! Poor puppy! Hope the three of you have a nice, relaxing weekend!!

Hi missmarie. Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about the tough road you have had ttc. I wish you the best of luck on this cycle. Please keep us updated so we can keep you in our prayers! I'm new to this. This is my first IVF cycle. I'm not sure what "normal" E2 levels should be. My stim day 8 check is tomorrow and I'll let you know what my numbers are so you can compare. Best wishes!

Hi Rachel, Thanks for all the info. You are definitely helping me though all of this! It sounds like you've had a terrible time in the past. I'm so sorry! I hope all goes well for you this time. It sounds like it is! I agree, I wish things would speed up. On one hand, it feels like time is going so slow, and on the other, I feel like this whole process is happening so fast and by the time I digest all the new information I get, I get hit with new information to start all over. Ahh... the stress! When are they estimating your retreival? It sounds like they are watching you very closely to make sure all goes well. Keep us updated on your results from your bw and ultrasound. AFM: I'm definitely into "fat" pants stage. In fact, I'm now home and intend to stay home all weekend, with the exception of doctor's visits. I know what you mean about "feeling my ovaries" It's not all that enjoyable, but at least I know it's working! My RE visit yesterday came with good and bad news. My E2 was at 832, which they said was a good place to be and kept me on my med protocol with no changes. My ultrasound showed lots and lots of follies. (over 15 on the right and 10 on the left) I think about 10 of them were over 11. I wish now I'd gotten that information, but its a lot to take in in the moment. So that was all the good. The not so good news was that the RE noticed fluid on the lining. He said that the lining itself was thickening up to a good level, but that if the fluid doesn't go away I may need to freeze instead of doing the ET. I was a little shocked by this news. I'm really just hoping that the fluid goes away. The doctor told me to "stop drinking water, gatorade and fruit juices only" This has been pretty hard for me. I love my water. Nothing else seems to quench my thirst. Seems a little strange too. The biggest news: they moved up my ER! It will be Monday. I'm a little surprised by this. I have an appointment tomorrow and take my last stims tomorrow morning and will hear all the directions for egg retrieval. Getting nervous............ I think I'll take off as much time as works allows! Best of wishes to everyone! Hope everyone is doing well with their meds.
