November 2009 IVF

Hello! Not too early I hope for this, but I am planning to start (for the first time) IVF! I am pretty sure AF is about to start & my doc wants me on bcp in Oct, so Nov it is! I feel hopeful and not as bummed as usual about AF. But then again there is the lingering fear what if this doesn't work? Today is a bloodwork day to check for a few things and it's sad but I am excited to start this new journey! I guess because I've seen it work and due to the odds. Anyways, DEFINITELY looking for buddies through this!

Hi Jessica! I actually am starting today on the stims, but I wanted to wish you lots of and all my best!

Just keep thinking THIS is it! I know the feeling of waht is it does not work? I had a failed IVF over the summer, but I started acupuncture, and that completely took sooo much stress off of me. Just keep coming to these boards, smile, and relax! We are all in this together!

Thanks so much! I do have more hope than I have had in awhile! It's kind of nice. Also, I am excited to start the process and it "gives me something to do" with all these shots and everything. Also, I am hoping we may learn something more about our unexplained IF. Thanks!

Hey Jess,

I am going to be starting my 2nd IVF cycle near the end of October. My ER will be sometime in the first wk of Novemeber. As you can see from my signature, it worked the first time and I got pg w/ triplets, but unfortunately I had to deliver at 19wks. Some time has gone by and although we will never forget them, we are ready to move on and try again.

I hope your cycle goes smoothy and look forward to talking to you. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. It's such an overwhelming process. I was so confused the first time!!

By the way, where r u from?

Daisy, I am so sorry to hear about your triplets. My friend had the same exact thing happen at 17 weeks (although she had them naturally which is shocking.) 19 weeks is far along, it's just awful. It's so scary, it must have been so hard to go back to IVF. I am admire your strength in taking the plunge back into IVF. Will your experience alter any of your plans, i/e how many embryos to transfer?

I feel really ready. I have had two losses of my own, early of course, but still it makes me a little hesitant. I hope IVF will be somewhat of an answer. I am mainly worried about how to remember everything- including acupuncture appointments and continue working full time! I am sure I will need lots of support throughout & will have questions as I am doing things.

I feel pretty good about the meds and how to do them, thankfully my husband is a nurse. That helps. We did our training last week. And our nurse is giving us a calendar with everything laid out. I am just a little anxious about not knowing things and how to function at work mostly not knowing how many days I will stim, etc.. They don't have a set protocol.

I have taken Follistim before with good response.

So the plan for now is starting BCP and Lupron as things gets closer. I will be on BCP for close to 6 weeks as I am going on a vacation right before we start the stim.

Anyways, thanks so much for checking in. I am thinking of you. I hope this cycle brings you at least one healthy baby.

Red face

Hi. I also will be trying IVF for the first time in November I think. I am excited, but nervous about it. All the meds got delivered today. Mainly I am nervous about all the medications involved. I have taken Follistem, Ovidrel and Prometrium in the past.

Welcome bookworm!

We will be first timers together. I am worried about all the timing and planning my life around it.

There are a lot of meds, has your clinic been helpful to you at all about which you take when? That must be a big box of medication is all I can say! I work in research, we have a diabetic cat, and my husband is a nurse so I have some experience with drawing up needles and preparing meds etc... So I am not too nervous, I am kind of excited at this point. Luckily our nurse has this awesome flowsheet of what to take when, I hope you will get something like that to help you out?

I am most worried about the anesthesia, I have to stay! But I am willing to do anything at this point! Good luck to you and stay in touch!

It will be nice having someone to talk to about this. I go to the clinic on the 5th to have all the meds explained and to have my uterus measured. I am worried about the planning and timing too, but so far rearranging my schedule has been pretty easy. I'm not too worried about the anesthesia, I'm actually kinda glad I won't feel it! I did fine giving myself the injections before, and I was just giving one of our cocker spaniel subcutaneous fluids because she had an attack of pancreatitis. We have 3 cocker spaniels. I wish you good luck too!!! Thanks for replying

Hi! I am so glad I found this site! I am also going to be starting my first IVF (with ICSI) cycle in November. AF should be starting this week and then I'll be starting BCP's. I am so excited and nervous, can't believe we're finally doing it! We are doing ICSI due to male factor (everything is low!), my doc has given us 70% chance of getting so I am keeping positive and praying!

I am so excited about this thread and I want to get to know all of u girls!

Jessica, thanks for the kind words. That is so great that your hubby is a nurse. I am also a nurse, so it makes things a little bit easier. I am not afraid of needles and I have a pretty good understanding of what is going on .

Ladies, please don't get overwhelmed by the meds. I know it can be scary, but lay it all out and figure out when you are going to be using what and when. Being organized early on really helped. Don't be afraid to call your re w/ any questions that you have. Your are paying ALOT of money for this and that is their job.

Hello Ladies,

I would like to join in November IVF group.

I had my first IVF on June – everything went well until the day of ER-when my dr.explained that no eggs were retrieved since they were all empty inside (even that b/w and ultrasound showed everything ok).
I was shocked since we could not understand why this happened. This time I changed the clinic and we are going with different protocol (without bcp). I ‘m currently on pills Cyclo Progynova (which are hormones but not bcp ) and I will start with stims on next cycle-end of October.

I wish luck to all of you ….

Count me in for November!!

This is my first IVF, I am so excited!

I am meeting with the Fertility Ctr tomorrow afternoon. She is going to map out the dates and times I need to do everything! I should be starting BCPs mid-week next week.
I am not worried about the medications. I have injected Gonal F several times on myself, and my DH has helped with trigger shots.
Actually I am not worried about much yet.

I am so excited! Good luck everyone!

Can't wait to talk more through the process!

Glad you joined us!

Daisy2006- I remember speaking to you elsewhere on the boards, I am so hopeful for you!

KimKlein- Sounds like you are really feeling hopeful, me too! We may do 1/2 ICSI, 1/2 IVF just because we have a h/x of unexplained IF.

Yesterday I made a google calendar to keep track of everything. Once AF starts, I will start bcp on Day 3. Then, I start Acupuncture next week. I scheduled a mock transfer for 10/14, had some blood work done yesterday, and hubby is getting final tests done. Still waiting on AF, but not expecting her. I am actually excited to get started, I feel like it gives me something to take charge of. I hope that doesn't sound too Type A!

Well- reared her ugly head today along with a . I am kind of more bummed and less filled with hope than I have been the past few days. I hope that passes. I really want IVF to work and I am fully committed to it. I have such a mix of hope and fear. All of the research points to it being in my favor but I feel like I am always in the that smaller percentage group to the general population. (having unexplained and having more than one m/c for example, or having to watch all my friends try one month for a . Ack! These things are always more bothersome the day of for me!!!!!!!!)Of course, I know I am not the only one, and that's what is so great about this site. I just mean in my day to day life where I feel like the minority!

Anyways, I pick up my bcp today and start them Sat. and my hubby is having a more thorough SA tomorrow. I am sort of looking forward to all the work IVF is just so I can feeling like I am doing something. I find myself more preoccupied with this than ever though, anyone else having the same issue? How do I think about other things when doing something this involved? Ack!
