Question Question for all past people with IVF Success stories

I'm current in day 2 of the 2 week wait. I am curious, for those for you who've had IVF success in the past, WHAT WAS YOUR PLAN AFTER TRANSFER.

How many days did you do bed rest?
When did you resume normal activities such as work, cooking, running errands and cleaning?

This is my last try...I've don't strict bed rest both times for 10 days, I know very extreme. I've received but miscarried very early both times. This time I'm thinking of just staying in bed for a few days then lying low. I know there is no proof the bed rest works but for those of you who've had sucesss I'm wondering what exactly you did after transfer and before your BETA's.

I'm sorry to hear about your mc's, I can't even imagine how devastating that must be. I had my ET on a Thursday, took Friday off work, and took it easy that weekend. By Monday I was back to work. On Thursday I didn't do much - rode the 90 minutes home from the office and then went to my acupuncturist that afternoon (drove myself). I was pretty pooped, so I laid on the couch most of that day. Starting Friday and for most of the weekend I just hung out at the house, though I did go grocery shopping at one point and didn't really follow bedrest per se. Mostly read or watched movies on the couch, but we have a trilevel house so I was up and down steps the whole time, plus we have 2 dogs that needed to be let out and in and out and in... I don't cook much, but I know I was up getting myself meals when DH was at work Thursday afternoon through Saturday. I went back to work on Monday (I'm a pediatrician and have weekends off anyway) I remember reading a few posts that cited decreased success with strict bedrest because of the decreased pelvic blood flow. My RE's office didn't even recommend limiting myself to as much as I did - they just said no bd and no marathon running. Good luck!

Hi Rachel - I'm sorry the last two tries didn't have favorable outcomes

After ET, I took it easy for about 3 days. I chilled out in the recliner in the living room, and only got up to use the bathroom and get something to eat/drink. I didn't really do any cooking, just survived on things I could cook quickly or reheat in the microwave. When my butt & legs started to fall asleep from sitting too long, I would get up and walk up and down the hallway a few times to get the blood flowing again. By the end of the 3rd day, I was going crazy from sitting still for so long, so I got up and moved around the house more, but didn't do anything strenuous.

that this cycle works better for you.

Sorry to hear about your losses - i know how hard it is. I hope this time is a success for you.
As for me, the two times I got pregnant and successfully carried I did almost no bedrest. I am a doctor and was still in my training during both times and I did the transfer, rested that day and was right back to work at a pretty physically/mentally demanding job the next day including working for 28 hours at a time the day after transfer. The times where I did more bedrest were not successful. i don't think it had anything to do with bedrest, i just think if it's going to happen, it will happen no matter how much or how little you do. For me, I enjoyed going back right away because it took away some of the mental stress which might actually be worse than being physically active.
