December 2009 IVF...

Hi everyone. I will be starting my cycle on November 24th with retrival on or around the 9th, 10th or 11th.

This will be my 1st IVF and I am sooooo scared. We have jumped straight from stims with timed coitis to this! Make my head spin. We found out the beginning of this week that the only way that they see that we have any chance, due to my husbands boys not being able to do the deed (asthenospermia), is to do the IVF with the ICSI.

Any suggestions would be helpful on how to not freak out about the upcoming cycle. Thanks everyone!

Hi mbaggett

I cannot offer much info as this is my first IVF also, but I think we will be pretty close on dates.

I will start my BCPs next week probably, but I am not sure.

You seem much more informed than I am!! I feel so clueless.

I hope you are able to get a in December!!

I am so glad that you replied, I was afraid that I was going to have to start by myself. I should be starting the BCP's next week too. Good luck and keep me posted. I would love to go thru this with ya. You said that this was your first IVF too, what have you done so far, you dont have a siggy for me to read.

I wish you all the babydust and luck I can give you. Hoepfully we will both get our for Christmas. What a great present that would be!!!!!!!

Do you know what meds you will be on yet? We meet with the Dr on the 27th to find all of that out.

Mbaggett-

We can def share storied, experiences through this whole thing!

My story is that ny hubby and I have been TTC sine Aug of 2007. Diagnosis is severe male factor. We were directly referred for IVF.

I do not know my meds yet. We have IVF class next Tuesday. I hope I get some answers because I feel sooo lost. Nobody I know has ever gone through this. Its nice that we will be doing it together.

I didn't build a sig yet since I had so little to put on it (I suppose that could be a good thing). But I was waiting for drug info and dates. I should put one up anyways.

Well better get back to work!! Talk to you soon.

IVF here we come!

Hey everyone! I am 31 and my DH is 33 and we have been trying to conceive for 1 year. He has borderline low spern count and low motility, and I dont produce eggs very well and they have a very hard time determining when I ovulate. Plus my FSH number is rising. Im so glad to have some cycle buddies. It looks as though I will be starting my bc pills in about 2 weeks so i wont be too far behind you ladies This is also my first ifv cycle and am anxious and excited! Im so ready to get started in the process and hopefully get us some by Christmas!!!! I dont know yet what medicines I will be taking - we will get our calendar in a couple of weeks. We tried two iui's that were unsuccessful and b/c our insurance doesnt cover anything associated with infertility we decided to move onto ifv to increase our chances of success and b/c we had already spent enough on iui's that we could have done an ivf cycle. The RE told us that we only had a 10% chance of success with the iui and that we would have a 50% chance of success with ivf. Im so excited to have some gals to share this cycle with! btw - how do you set up signatures on a forum????

So, arrived on Friday and started my BCP on Saturday. Ive been trying to find some things to relax me while waiting to start my cycle so we went out on the boat yeasterday and idled around most of the day up and down the river looking at manatees. It was just what the Dr. ordered....

What are you girls doing to try to stay relaxed? What are you doing differently in your life to prepare for our up coming cycle???????

mbaggett--

Spending time on a boat sounds amazing and relaxing (we actually have one also), but I woke up to SNOW on Saturday!

I suppose I should have been thinking about how I am going to relax myself...but I haven't. I will let you know if I have any ideas. I do have a couple gift certificates for massages so I will probably put those to use.

For now, just waiting for .

Oh, and IVF class is at my RE's office.

Keep us updated on how everything is going!

Hey everyone! I'm so excited to join you - I think my IVF will be in December as well.

DH and I are 34 years old. THis will be our 2nd IVF cycle. My first was back in 2006 - got OHSS pretty bad and couldn't transfer - so we froze 18 embryos. I've done 3 FET's - the 2nd one gave me my daughter, who is now 22 months old. The last FET (May 2009), I got pregnant with identical twins, but miscarried at 9 weeks - absolutely devastated over them! So, we are now going in for our 2nd IVF and hopefully our last one! We are pretty much unexplained infertility...

I am thinking that I will be starting bcp's in about 1-1 1/2 weeks...

One of the best ways that I have found to help keep me relaxed - full-body massages and reflexology - I have done those with every single FET and I have stayed relaxed thru the whole cycle - I would even go get a 1.5 hour massage the night before the transfers and it always helped me to go to sleep without any problems the night before the transfer...

Good luck everyone and once again, I'm excited to join you!

JCVP, I am glad you joined our little December IVF club. LOL. Hopefully this is not a long lived club if you know what I mean.

I am looking forward to many massages! Wishing you much and for all of our this month.

Iowagal- I got my answer about the IVF class. I get to sit down with my husband and the nurse and have a one on one class to talk in detail about what to do and what to expect. I feel better now knowing that they are going to do this with us.

Im so excited to have some buddies to experience this with. I am sure once I get neck deep in this process I will have lots of questions about what is going on. So we gotta keep this thread going strong. I probably wont start my period until 1-2 more weeks – I never really know for sure. Im so ready for it to get here so I can get on bc pills and get this cycle underway. We should have entitled our forum topic – baby by Christmas ha ha. Or im like you other girls – we are all about boating, wakeboarding, and surfing. Although the water temp is pretty cold right now even in Alabama for surfing. We live on the TN river in Alabama. So we for sure don’t have snow yet and I’m thinking that a leisurely boat ride down the river to see the trees changing colors will be my way to relax also.
Have ya’ll decided yet how many embryos you plan to transfer? That seems to be the question I get asked the most. My RE is pretty much against more than two b/c of the risk of multiples.

Thanks Mary for the Welcome! I hope that all of us get our Christmas BFP!!!! That would be the best Christmas present ever!

I am planning on putting back at least 3... Every transfer we have done so far as been at least 3... Now they were frozen embies, but I feel better with doing 3 on the fresh IVF... Hopefully, I will be able to transfer this time and not get OHSS again - that is my worst fear and I will cancel the cycle if my estradiol levels are too high...

Well I got the disappointing news that my IVF for November is being cancelled, and hopefully rescheduled for December. (I am disappointed but it's only moving it back about 3 weeks since I was going to be on a trip anyways.) So I am joining you ladies! This will be my first IVF. And December of 2009 marks exactly 4 years since we started trying on my birthday December 2005. Such a very long time ago.

Our November IVF got cancelled as they located some antiphospholipid antibodies while doing my blood work and I need more blood work that can't be done until November. I am meeting with a Maternal Fetal Specialist on 10/30 to discuss how to cope if I get pregnant from IVF as it may involve heparin shots. I am hoping my case won't be "unexplained" much longer.

In the meantime, I have done our work up, our class to teach us about meds, and I even bought my bcp but I can't take them (the antibodies cause blood clotting so that's a no-no with bcp). I am not sure how this will affect our plan, but i am meeting with my doc tomorrow for our mock transfer. So I am hoping all goes smoothly and we can get on the December plan, with heparin and aspirin.

It makes me feel a little more hopeful IVF coudl work due to my previously unexplained h/s re: m/c. But, it's still nervewracking. I just want to get there and get it started already--- this waiting is the worst part!!!

My best guess this far in advance is that ER/ ET would be midmonth in Dec. Not sure if it would be too early for a Christmas but I would take one for New Years as well.

Wishing everyone !
