Prometrium Capsules help

This is my first time using this. In the past I've used PIO along with progesterone/estrogen suppository.

My new RE perscribed me these tiny capsules that looks like jelly beans. I take them am and pm. There's no instructions, so I'm worried. Do I gave to do them at the same times each day for consistent levels? Does it keep AF away like PIO? How long does it take to absorb before continuing my daily activities? I feel like it might fall out. Any info would help. Thanks.

Dear Judy, I used at the beginning 4 per day: one for breakfast, 1 for lunch, 2 for dinner. It was around the same time of the day (+/- 1 hour).

It works the same way as PIO, but you won't have to pinch yourself and have the bumps. On the negative side, they tend to leak (what you don't need), so I recommend using a pantyliner.

Hugs and kisses!

wondering the same thing

Judy-Wow, you read my mind. I just got mine in the mail today, looked at them and thought "how the heck do I use these things". Dumb question but do you just insert them with your finger? I am happy to not have to do the PIO but I'm not looking forward to the leakage. I'll take that though over bumps and not being able to sit.

i just use my finger...make sure you wash your hands well first(and after lol) wear a panty liner that you may have to change quite often ...they did give me an kinda applicator to use but it was awkward and had to many crevices to wash and such so finger it is as far as you can go...you will have leakage but the capsule itself should not fall out....good luck

I have been using the prometrium 2x per day. My doc just said every 12 hours. So I have just been taking them at 7am and 7pm to keep it easy. I have had a little leakage so I do wear a panty liner but it really has not been alot. Just to your best to get it as high as you possibly can. That is my best advice. Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses. I just bought two boxes of panty liners. LOL.

Maribeth: It came with an applicator, kinda like a tampon where you just push up to release.

I've been inserting the capsule while standing since I use the applicator. Is there a better way to do this? I'm having trouble inserting while laying down.
