Need help..should I do IVF?
I am 28, my husband 31. We got pregnant on our first try in August of last year. We misscarried at 9 weeks- we saw the heartbeat. My ob said she was unaware of the cause of the misscarriage. Since then we have been trying with no luck. August-Oct we used clomid with 2 natural cycles and one with IUI. ALL NO LUCK. It has been over a year and I have been to an infertility clinic. They say I may have endo but can't be sure unless they do a lapo. My insurance doesnt cover this and it is very expensive so instead of spending the money on the lapo we are thinking of IVF. The clinic said I would be a great canidate. I dont think I have endo because I have no symptoms but who knows. Also my husbands sperm is PERFECT! Has anyone ever heard of getting pregnant the first time then nothing?? Also do you think IVF is a good option? Thanks so much

Personally I would not do IVF at age 28 unless there was a specific indication for it, like tubal factor, for example. It costs a lot of money and most 28 year olds still have lots of fertile years ahead to try other means.

I would proceed with IVF. If I had been trying for a year, with no specific indication for IVF, I would still try it. Sometimes, the IVF itself can be diagnostic. I was 32 and had no specific reason given for not being able to get pregnant. After a year, I went ahead with IVF. I found out during the cycle that I was a poor responder to treatment. I would not have known this without the cycle b/c my FSH had not tested extremely high on several occasions. I think the earlier you start IVF the better. If I had waited any longer, I likely would not have been able to conceive b/c of my particular problem.
