I have two questions for the experienced IVFers among us-

1) How many days did you take stim drugs for?

2) How many follicles did you have (approx) prior to transfer?

3) How many eggs fertilized? And how many did you transfer? (If you feel comfortable, you may want to share your age/diagnosis here as I know this can play a role.)

2) How many of you actually have had embryos to freeze? And how many did you freeze?

I am just curious. I have read that only 20% of women have embryos to freeze. I also have heard that it's better to stim slower, over a longer period of time, but the amount of time seems to vary so I wanted to see some real time experience.

1) How many days did you take stim drugs for?1st IVF - 12 Days, 2nd IVF 8 Days. (different protocol for 2nd)

2) How many follicles did you have (approx) prior to transfer? 1st IVF - About 17, 2nd IVF 12.

3) How many eggs fertilized? And how many did you transfer? (If you feel comfortable, you may want to share your age/diagnosis here as I know this can play a role.) 1st IVF - 3, 2nd IVF - 8.

2) How many of you actually have had embryos to freeze? And how many did you freeze? 1st IVF - 0, 2nd IVF - 2 transferred 2 to freeze.

For question 2 even though you have alot of follciles before retrieval not all contain a mature egg. So only expect about 50-75% of your follicles to have mature eggs. Some don't contain any egg, but they won't know until after retrieval. Good Luck!

1) How many days did you take stim drugs for?7. I responded really fast. They had to keep reducing my meds. They do think this may have played a part in embryo quality for me.

2) How many follicles did you have (approx) prior to transfer? about 14 on one ovary. Only have half left ovary and the follicles didn't do so well on that side.

We had 12 eggs, 11 mature, 8 fertilized with ICSI. I am 31, have severe endo, DH has very low morphology. We had poor embryo quailty. They were all beautiful... perfect... but slowed down after day 3 and stopped growing.

2) How many of you actually have had embryos to freeze? And how many did you freeze? Zero. They transfered 2 perfect grade 4AA blasts on day 6. Other 6 didn't make it to freeze. We had a BFN. We are trying one more time with different meds and hoping for better embryo quality.

I took stims for 12days (or maybe a few days longer because my ovaries were slow responding)

50 follicles however only 19 mature eggs

9 eggs fertilized however all slow growers and died off, 1 made it to 6 day blast.

2) How many of you actually have had embryos to freeze? And how many did you freeze?
I had none left

Hi ReadyinKc- I remember you from the November IVF board. I am kind of wondering if I may not be in a similar spot to you once I am done IVF too. I am sorry to hear you only got one embryo. But I hope they were able to learn enough from the experience so your next cycle will bring you a . I am excited to go through the IVF cycle but wondering what other surprises (good or bad) are in store. Good luck with ICSI!

1) How many days did you take stim drugs for? You can see my answer to this in my signature from IVF #1. I also had gotten OHSS during this time and they minimized my drugs down to nothing 2 days prior to my trigger.

2) How many follicles did you have (approx) prior to transfer? They saw like 24 on each side prior to retrieval but they retrieved a total of 16 mature ones.

3) How many eggs fertilized? And how many did you transfer? (If you feel comfortable, you may want to share your age/diagnosis here as I know this can play a role.) All 16 of my eggs fertilized via ICSI. We transferred 2 embryos. I was 2 months away from turning 35. I have no known fertility issues. My hubby has low morphology.

I asked why they didn't make it to freeze and they basically said they wouldn't survive the thaw. They didn't really give me much details beyond that. I thought it was weird that none of my 14 left after transfer made it to freeze. I was also a 5 day transfer so I don't know if that has anything to do with their ability to freeze.

I am 40 and everything is within normal except for my age.

1 made it to freeze on morning of Day 6.
